Ballista was the only answer but didn't wounded him. Game was lost by Isengard turn 1 when the shaman lost his might for nothing, the leader captain died with 2 might and a lot of Uruk-hai died. Unfortunately really bad play hero play from the Isengard Player
Great video as ever! I think the ballista should have definitely shot the troops closing in on the defended objective instead of Gil Galad, had that worked gil galad would keep chopping and there may have been more VPs for the uruks. That was a massacre. I think that The battle was already decided in the deployment phase, with the 2 heroes being so exposed at the mercy of a roll-off The next battle will be interesting . Dunland has the hedge, but 3 chariots can butcher through the lines.
Yeah the game was basically finished turn 1 with so many mistakes from the Uruk Hai Player. You were lucky to avoid the two other best players who are on the other side of the tournament, but that's how competition goes sometimes.... :) Notice than when you kill a banner with a charge from cavalry, the banner cannot be given to another soldier, because of being prone. Same thing with a death from an Istari Blast, be killed by a Hurl directly or indirectly, or being killed by a Monstrous charge. Look for it in the erratas
@@ar-mando1240 Are you sure about the cavalry tho? The rule states that a prone model cannot TAKE a banner, but doesn't say anything about PASSING it if you are prone. So if a cavalry model charges a model with a banner that is in base contact with a friend (not engaged by the cavalry model) and the banner bearer dies I think the banner can be passed. If you have found a rule stating differently would you mind pointing me there? (I still agree with sorcerous blast and hurl since in that case also the other model is prone)
@@carlopulcini9585 it's on the designer's commentary notes to MESBG rules manual, page 5: "Can models pass on a banner in any other situation than being slain or fleeing the board, (e.g, being knocked prone) ?? @@ar-mando1240 "it's the model with the banner that cannot die being prone if he wants to pass it to another model" this is the part I don't find in the rules. From my understanding, it is the RECEIVING model that cannot be prone, but it says nothing about PASSING it if you are prone. Wouldn't you agree?
The problem comes from avoiding being anywhere near Gil galad with any hero's, blood and glory with Lord of the west and +1 to wound is intimidating, especially mounted. Plus isengard doesn't have any big hero's in this LL making him even more intimidating

Excellent game! I’ve watched a number of videos on this channel and noticed that the Isengard players don’t field trolls. I just started with the Assault on Helms Deep legendary legion and picked up pikes, warriors, demo teams, berserkers, ballistae, crossbows, and multiple trolls. Why are the trolls so rarely seen? Also, thoughts on arming them with spears vs swords?
Unfortunately, Isengard trolls are really bad ^^ their huge base makes them very hard to manoeuver plus they don't have might or fate. A good mounted hero can one shot the poor troll with a heroic strike :/ (also Isengard trolls are way too expensive. Imagine you can have 11 uruks with shield or pike for the same amount of points)

Any thoughts on whether they should be split up and added to different warbands or putting them all into one? Are the swords better than shields?
