Big shoutout to David st 15:05. Reminding his opponent that the great beast pivots before moving and 8" away isnt safe. I've played a few guys that would not give thst heads up and try to get a "gotcha" moment there. It's a small moment of sportsmanship but definitely something you love to see.
@@ArchangelTyrael warbeast don't move like other models. They pivot, choosing a direction, then trample in that direction. Since the beast has an oval base, it means that once the beast pivots at the beginning of movement, it would "gain" an extra inch
So true. What a cool guy move. I have probably sacrificed games by informing my opponent of mistakes such as this. Although it hurts at the time, it is always worth it. Gotchas make the game less fun for everyone!
Always better to win because of tactics or dice luck with both players understanding what is happening, rather than getting gotchas because the other person didn't realise something.
It feels good being a part of the 30% that predicted the beautifully painted Elves and Men would bite the dust in this one. I didn't know you could morgul blade after a duel roll. For some reason, I always thought you had to declare it first (like attacking with a 2 hander), but you taught me something today.
@@kyleg5950 dont think so. very clearly worded. and i reckon it works fine as a one use item. would suck very much if ten points was wasted just cause you lost a fight. gets wasted often enough as it is😆 still have to roll to wound with it and get by fate rolls so not OP. its a magic sword, i reckon he can turn it on when he wants
Thanks for the comment! Good job on the predictions! The wording for the Morgul blade is: "Once per game, this model's controlling player may declare they are using their Morgul blade during the Fight phase before rolling To Wound."
Another amazing batrep - I really like the format. The visuals are amazing and very descriptive of what is actually occurring in the game. Keep up the great work and keen to see more of the series.
What a match!! Wow, so many epic turning points to keep you on the edge of the seat through out. Well played both players. That's what you call a battle! :D ^^
Hey Jacob (or the video editor?) great job on these. One suggestion -- if you're making the effort to call it on the screen when a hero calls a heroic action, could have a might tracker that goes with it (for the army and model). Shouldn't be too much extra work to count down on it
Elendil is obviously there to make sure he can meet the great beast, otherwise it gives it far too much room to manoeuvre without anything to stop it, as well as giving up Tyler’s objectives. Additionally, the good side won a few priorities early on which meant he couldn’t react to the beast as it moved.
I love the bat reps. I really enjoy the style and the quality etc. One thing though - I have to often listen to them and lower volumes, and honestly miss half the dialogue because the audio volume rangers voice to voice. I'm sure you're thinking about it - but lav mics on players would make a huge difference.
Thanks mate! I need to track down the comment that suggested it! It will be going out late may. The current date that I am targeting is the 30th. I am about 80% of the way through painting it and then we have a heap of battle reports to play
Awesome bat rep! Keep up the good work Jacob! Buying the stls for durak deep today for my son’s birthday! Also where did Tyler get that amazing mounted elendil model!?
instead of using transfix use a blackdart at the horse, killing the horse makes them roll the thrown rider test, making them most likely fall on the ground and they will be unable to use heroics/ make strikes or use special rules such as shielding, much better than allowing them to use their will. ( first fight with gilgalad + at 20:00 with elendil vs the great beast)
So somehow 3 for 3 in my fb predictions. Though this one was very much a table decider. This really was a game of combat pieces with the great beast doing great thug duty. The army that had good tools won.
Why Elendil or Gil-galad didnt had 4 dice in charge, and how come nowone tested courage to charge either of them? I'm new to mebsg, but they do seem to have terror/terrify... Love this channel!
Thanks for the comment, you only get the additional attack when charging infantry models while you are a cavalry. This meant that there were times that they got the additional attacks and other times where they did not. With the terror tests all of them were rolled. This video is condensing a 2 hours game down into 35 minutes so we can't show everything
Great battle report! Thanks really amazing. A question: why is the great beast taking multiple courage tests for suffering 3 wounds from Elendil? Doesn't the rule about the courage tests say that multiple tests from the same rule do not stack in the same turn (unless explicitly stated, like for survival instinct)? This is a long discussion I am having with my friends but I don't see any FAQs clarifying it.
@@ajcolasante well... the exact sentence is "every time...". I am not a native speaker but I reckon I could say "every time a model wants to charge a terror-causing model they must make a terror check" but that would still mean one per turn, no?
@@carlopulcini9585 Even if it would not, Terror is a special rule and Special Rules as well as "Abilitys" can only force a single courage test per turn each. While Stampede! is just a "regular rule" and therefore probably doesn't fall under this rule that only requires a single passed courage test to then pass all of them for that turn. At least I think Stampede is not what "Ability" means.
Yes he does, David failed a few of them. Because the Mordor army outnumbered the last alliance all the warriors got +1 Courage. Often times we cut some rolls and explanations to keep the battle as concise as possible
Unfortunately Elendil was not used to his full potential. He should have been in there with Gil-Galad mixing it up. His free heroic combat is insane value in any matchup.
The challenge was playing the scenario. If it had just been 'To the Death' then I totally agree but if Elendil hadn't held his ground the orcs could ahve easily marched up and got the objectives. Then even if the high kings killed everything it wouldn't matter

Great Batrep guys, even better that I'm starting with Mordor as my first army for MESBG.
What a close match!! This series is amazing, seeing top lvl players duke it out in cinematic glory
Love the colours on the Elves, and the Great beast ballista conversion is incredible! bonus points for the moving turret

The models looking great! Where are the elven infantry miniatures from?
Believe they're the Davale Bloody Elves.
A fun video of the three guys who destroyed me at the end of my day at Blitz the other month!

the only way to loose gil galad here is to yolo him into the whole mordor army all by himself while elendil chills for no reason until turn 5.

18:20 correct me if I'm wrong but don't you have to chose to use the morgul blade befor knowing who wins the Fight?
Thanks for the comment. This one is all good, the Morgul Blade is declared before rolling to wound. Page 114 of the Armies of Lord of the Rings
Oh man this was the best so far

I have hope for the Hat Man! But I have a feeling the powerhouses of Elendil and Gil-Galad might win it out

So rolling a 1 is "most likely"? most likely not. Elendils horse also gets the 2 resist rolls.
There's a Sulôkil (I think that's it's name) model!
I haven't played any SBG since 2011 😢
Great stuff! Did Elendil get the Will back when he rolled the 6 on resist? He didnt split between Fortify Spirit and resist dice.
the trees are cool terrain. where are they from?
Spoilers!
Really glad the orcs won that, loving seeing slightly left field/different forces doing well on the table top
