- This video how to make Mickey caramel apples at home. Instructions below:
1. Add around 30 oz of caramel (roughly 3 cups) to a 4 cup Pyrex measuring cup
2. Microwave at 100% for 30 seconds. Stir. Repeat 6 -7 times. You may dip the apple when temperate is between 160* and 190* F.
3. Consider adding about 5 oz white melting chocolate (this helps the caramel set up and not slide off). Stir.
4. Microwave at 100% for 30 seconds. Stir. Repeat as necessary. Bring temperate back up to around 180*-190* F.
5. Quickly dip and twist in caramel. Shake. Scrape bottom on side of measuring cup. Set on parchment or freezer paper. Not wax paper, this will stick!
6. Set in fridge to set for 10 minutes.
Dips around 8-10 medium apples with some excess caramel. We make a log of caramel on freezer paper to eat the excess.
7. Cut off 1/3 of marshmallows. Add Mickey ears.
8. Add approximately 1 tablespoon of coconut oil for every cup of chocolate pieces.
9. Trim caramel skirt with scissors.
10. Add 24 oz of melting chocolate (around 3 cups) to a 4 cup Pyrex dish. Add 3 TBS of Coconut oil (1 TBS per cup) to melting chocolate.
11. Microwave at 100% for 30 seconds. Stir. Repeat 3 times. Temperature will be around 112* F.
12. Dip apples completely covering ears.
13. Rotate, shake, scrape bottom.
14. Set in fridge to set for 10 minutes.
There will be excess chocolate. Dip strawberries, pretzels, nut clusters, bananas or coat your caramel. You can also paint your chocolate on food.
15. Trim chocolate skirt.
16. Add 2 cups of white melting wafers to a small Pyrex dish. Add 2 TBS of Coconut oil to melting chocolate.
17. Microwave at 100% for 30 seconds. Repeat 1 to 2 times. Temperature will be around 112* F.
18. Dip apples half way.
19. Place yellow M&M, Skittle, or jelly bean buttons and sprinkle red sanding sugar onto the wet white chocolate.
20. Let cool to room temperature on parchment or freezer paper.
21. Now you are ready to share, eat, and enjoy!
