Valid & logical point of view. But I think Hyliion knew a lot more about the intricacies of acquiring Libertine vs developing their own piston than any of us. Ultimately, I trust that they made the right decision even though it is hard with everything that has happened in the past. Only time will tell.
Perhaps they knew something about Libertine's systems that was unworkable, or that Libertine was unable/unwilling to fix it. It's also possible that Libertine was unwilling to combine join Hyliion for some reason. It's not really only Hyliion that needs to agree to it... but both sides.
