What I love about the Istanbul & Christmas in Spice World tour was there were no backup dancers. Just them performing with no other distractions on stage. But my favorite concert though was their Wembley concert even without Geri in it. I think it was the best one.

@@donmonteiro6830... Wembley was huge, no doubt, but in my opinion (not just me though..) even Wembley lacked something that is present here at Istanbul. Maybe the fact it was their very first true concert, their excitation, their huge motivation at the time, that fantastic (and incredibly frantic, and super-stressing) span they were living in late 1997, whatever it was... there was something magical at Istanbul, but was absent at Wembley.
Wembley was the last in an impressive string of 97 concerts through Europe and North America within almost 7 months. Many things had changed (or, were changing) for the girls in that year 1998 and if you watch carefully, you'll be able seeing that.

Melanie B is very underrated, and is not valued as much as she should be, often even attacked and placed as the villain of the story, which is not quite so. I feel like they overestimate Mel C and Emma, they're not all that... I say this because, we only remember Mel C and Emma for their highs, we only remember Victoria and Geri for their deep voices, Melanie B was the best dancer in the group, she had attitude, and if you want to hear her bass listen to 2 th album (do it, viva forever, etc), if you want to hear Melanie B's high notes listen to the 3rd album (wekeend love min 3:06 for example), and on the 1st album where melanie b has more solos and raps. by far she is the most complete of the group
she never left the group, she was always willing to keep going, unlike geri and victoria, mel c didn't want to come back in 2016, and emma wasn't there from the start. really she does not receive the value

100% I'm with U she always was the portrayed as the villain but they all had their bad and good times in the group... I personally think because of the nickname she got 'Scary' and esp. because they were mostly adored by young fans that name might ruin her popularity back than and not to mention the only part black in the group and that sucks. Because she is one of the best voices their( I prefer her voice on the others) the best dancer and she was the best looking one!!

Such a great group performance, they had great chemistry. Such a shame, the father and son duo didn’t sign these five since they discovered them first. It’s hard to find a group like this (back then). Even Posh Spice was dancing, that just shows great teamwork.

Nontenefrega Ancorameno Okay, first of all, every single Spice Girl was just as important as the rest, whether they don’t have a “good voice” or aren’t that “good at dancing”, they all brought something individually.
Secondly I don’t understand how you can call her invisible when one of the greatest footballers of the 90s, chose HER out of all the Spice Girls to be his wife, saw her in the Say You’ll Be There Video, and said SHE stood out from the rest, and there’s you saying she’s “invisible”.
So what if she never sang much on the first song? She wasn’t available during the recording of the session, and if you actually acknowledged yourself about the Spice Girls properly, you’d know she sang the lead on Say You’ll Be There, along with many more solo parts of their other songs.
Thirdly, she couldn’t sing? Really? Out of the hundreds that auditioned, Victoria was actually one of the first who managed to gain a spot because her voice had been vocally trained for lower harmonies and opera-style. This made her a perfect fit for the Spice Girls, as she was needed for that deep tone in the background, above all the sweet-pop sound.
“Looked quite out of place?” Listen, Victoria Beckham is a fashion designer and successful model, so if there’s anything she knows about, it’s about how to adapt and look IN place of anything. Victoria has always given her respect towards the Spice Girls and proclaimed that she’ll always be one, but just because she’s moved on with her life, doesn’t mean to say she never liked being there in the first place.

I believe this concert, if we consider: their first full concert, no stage dancers to fill the choreography, high emotive pressure etc. was a triumph and, proportionally, even better than Wembley of 11 months later. Wembley of course was huge, but Istanbul was somehow 'magical', difficult to tell by words. And the five queens, absolutely great.
Geri (just my opinion) maybe gets some discomfort at being on stage through 15 - 16 songs with small amount of lines to sing, often just the chorus, plus being somehow at disadvantage in moving and dancing vs. the others. Emma sort of an angel; Victoria posh at top levels; the two Mels absolutely energetic and perfect. GODDESS Mel C in particular, what a fantastic toned body w/ abdominals in evidence... 110% dedication, motivation and enthusiasm... a special sexyness in my opinion.

I LOVED this special!!! I watched it repeatedly. After it premiered, it was always on ABC Family, now Freeform. Spice Girls are one of, if not my all time favorite girl groups. They gave young girls and women confidence and inspiration. They're still the reigning champs on my playlists. This was definitely one of the best times in Pop music for my generation.

Crazy to think that Mel c was almost booted from the group for telling Victoria to f off during a drunken night out. Who the hell would've hit those high notes? Her voice was so different compared to the others. There would be no spice girls without her.
