Sometimes people sell perfectly fine freezers on Facebook marketplace sometimes for dirt cheap. Other places too aren't a bad deal if you catch a good sale. I got a standing freezer for only a couple hundred dollars from The Brick around 3 years ago. It really is such a good thing to have for stocking staples like bread, proteins, or any homemade goods like stock, sauces, etc.

I prep things like this for my fiance all the time. I don't individually vacuum seal mine like he does, but they reheat relatively well in the microwave. I tend to microwave mine to thaw out the burrito and then pan sear it to get a bit of texture on the tortilla.

I've made some using chipotle chicken with rice and beans, others with taco meat and cheese, and then some breakfast ones using typical ingredients such as egg, hash browns, bacon, etc. It just depends on what you like, can afford, and what's available in your area. It's easier to watch what you eat and is normally cheaper than buying takeout constantly.

At the moment I have lasagna, enchiladas, carnita meat, breakfast sandwiches, garlic and herb marinated chicken, and a handful of different sauces to make anything from gumbo to alfredo within an hour or so.
I've been retired since 2012. With COVID I decided to cook meals in large quantities. Not much more work. I buy at COSTCO whole primal cuts of meat, I bake my bread, make soup a gallon at a time, pastrami, meat loaf. All portioned, vacuum packed, and frozen. I bought a chamber vacuum sealer and an Ankarsrum mixer. I use my freezer inventory list as a fine restaurant menu. I cook pork chops on the barbecue 20 at a time, packed with sauce made with smoked paprika and frozen, we have barbecue even in the depth of winter.
or if you don’t have the money/space for a vacuum sealer, a sink full of water and a ziplock bag will do the job pretty effectively. Maybe not quite as well, but it’ll definitely get the job done especially for items that don’t have air incorporated in them.

Another life tip that goes aloing with this. You can geta chest freezer in your basement and it uses virtually no energy to run thus paying for itself. Doesn't lose coldness when opened either (making it openable for power outages, grilling time!). You can store your excess frozen things in the chest freezer and just restock upstairs every so often to save freezer space.

I have done this when I was in college but without the vacuum seal. It was very efficient and convenient. But i remember i had to eat with some good hot sauce because they tasted bland after reheating. Will definitely do it again if i become divorced.
best part of vac sealing is you can just drop stuff in a pot of water at a low boil for 30 mins and reheat it without having to worry about it becoming a rubber doggy chew toy like most microwaves will do to it. i make tons of things and portion out to vac seal bags to only have to cook like once a month. then just drop in pot of semi-boiling water while i do other things for 30 mins then come back and enjoy with minimal effort.
@@h.s.6269 vac seal bags are literally designed for that method of cooking look up sous vide cooking. it is actually how many restaurants get perfect cooks on steaks and many other things. though have to pat it dry and sear it after cooking. great when you can't grill over charcoal. i actually use my sous vide set up to cook mashed potatoes cube them up skin on, and add cream cheese, butter, heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt/pepper then cook at 195 F for 2 hours. then just put on some pot holder gloves and mash in bag. portion it out, and freeze.

You can do this but do bear in mind that nutrients in frozen food still do degrade over time. While freezing is an excellent method for food preservation it doesn't stop all chemical reactions. Water soluble vitamins in particular can break down. Ofcourse degradation is influenced by multiple factors, storage, food type, packaging. And vacuum sealing is an excellent method of packaging. So while you can keep some foods up to 2 years in the freezer.. I find it best to consume them within 3 months. 6months max. At 6 months I can taste the lower quality and I didnt want to finish the rest of the batch I prepared. So fresh frozen good up to 3-6 months max. Just thought id share.
I do the same thing but chicken burritos for work using chicken thighs. Takes about 30 minutes of my time and makes 16-24 burritos. I don’t vacuum seal them but I put them in freezer bags and just pull one out the night before

I use the biggest stainless steel bowl you can get. I make a delicious chicken and broccoli alfredo with homemade alfredo. Lets just say we never have leftovers.

Came here to say this, as someone that uses a vac sealer for things that need it, like ground beef. This is excessive and expensive, those rolls of plastic are about $10 a piece unless you buy a ton, it ups the cost of the burritos.

I do the same thing but I skip the Tortilla as thats usually 100 Calories and a bunch of Carbs. Just buy tupperware and make a ton of eggs, seasoned Potatoes and bacon add vegetables like bell peppers and onions. Split it into a bunch of bowls and freeze. Thaw it overnight and its ready to go the next morning. Reheats at work in the microwave no problem.
As long as you don’t fill your freezers with random stuff. You will be fine for space. Leave a good amount of space for meal prep. And the rest of the space leave ingredients to make the meal prep or meats that your storing.

I eat for protein shakes a day that are made of whole milk, whole milk Greek yogurt, organic jaggery, and Celtic Sea salt. I use half a tub of the yogurt for each one, they contain about 40 g of protein a piece, and they cost between $2 and $2.25. that's what you do if you really want to save money and you need to have about 150 g of protein or so per day. I'm a laborer and often deliver furniture, I exercise, and I donate plasma, hence the need for so much protein. It becomes expensive. That's how you really save money on whatever the hell you want to call it

I wish i could afford a vacuum sealer atm, because this is downright genius. I think ill try this with regular Zip-Locs first though, and just press out as much air as possible. I do the same thing but I skip the Tortilla as thats usually 100 Calories and a bunch of Carbs. Just buy tupperware and make a ton of eggs, seasoned Potatoes and bacon add vegetables like bell peppers and onions. Split it into a bunch of bowls and freeze.
Thaw it overnight and its ready to go the next morning. Reheats at work in the microwave no problem.

This is so weird, I watched this short a few days ago and I used this recipe to make some breakfast burritos for my bf and I (btw we loved it!), but I forgot to save the video into my “cooking playlist” and I just searched up “BREAKFAST BURRITOS” and “barefoodtim” in the TH-cam search bar but this video doesn’t show up at all. I had to find this video by clicking on a video of someone doing a green screen react to it.

I eat for protein shakes a day that are made of whole milk, whole milk Greek yogurt, organic jaggery, and Celtic Sea salt. I use half a tub of the yogurt for each one, they contain about 40 g of protein a piece, and they cost between $2 and $2.25. that's what you do if you really want to save money and you need to have about 150 g of protein or so per day. I'm a laborer and often deliver furniture, I exercise, and I donate plasma, hence the need for so much protein. It becomes expensive. That's how you really save money on whatever the hell you want to call it

I did this in college and wrapped them in paper towels and froze them in bulk. The paper towels keep them moist.

I wish i could afford a vacuum sealer atm, because this is downright genius. I think ill try this with regular Zip-Locs first though, and just press out as much air as possible. If that doesnt work then ill buy a Vacuum Sealer, because i could eat Breakfast Burritos ever day for a year without getting sick and tired of them...especially if they can be made for under 2$ per Burrito.
If I had a car, I'd satiate my cravings with sonics, weinerschnitzel, taco bell, popeyes, and more. Where I live, there ain't none of that.
