you should be tightening up your suspension under load i.e on the ground, if you tighten while in the air you typically get binding which sounds like what your describing with the heavy steering...
Why aren’t all the social media marketing wizards from big companies falling over themselves to sponsor this channel? Tires, wheels, seats, parts, Swamp Cooler, Milwaukee tools.....
Those companies respond to what their customers ask for. If you think someone should sponsor Taylor, let them know. If enough people let them know they might do something. Also, Email is usually better than a contact us form, so if it's an option I'd use that.
It would be cool if you could run a nitrous bottle heater on the oil tank that had an auto cutoff when the oil temp got to XX degrees. Would make warming it up a lot faster.
Heh it’s a beautiful day in Utah sunny and 65*! It’s not often I can say that! It’s either misery level cold or mind blowing heat! Hell yeah your finally doing real caster adjustments! A man who gives himself a haircut has a fool for a client lol!
Love ur show man just subscribed. You seem like a good guy, you’re definitely a good driver, I respect that. That being said, the rear bumper on ur Miata kills the car man. The car is so rad and the second I see that bumper I’m like nah, that things gotta go. Great channel though bro!!!
I fucking felt that oil pressure talk lmao. I rebuilt the LS that I swapped into my cressida and I'm always watching my oil pressure gauge. Low on oil pressure, high on freedom
Not sure what front suspension you got, but I have over tightened ball joints before and had the same issue with self steer. It just would not return back. May be something to look at brother
Pretty sure that dude doesn't drift his miata so he shouldn't notice as much, but it still would be a good idea to ask him. Edit: They also probably have very different suspension setups. Taylor has an angle kit, his friend probably doesn't.
you should make some V band plates welded to flanges and use them to cap the ends of piping youll use with V bands. clamps and holds flanges true , while also capping , and making a place to use for purge lines. , and you can drill and tap the plate to make a back purge rig, part of why youre blowing through is lack of gas coverage , and also you in a few instances welded with the thinner material higher than the flange . so heat rises and would melt the thinner material before you got the flange hot enough . looking good though man , def sounds better.
@Taylor whats your opinion on locking eccentric cams for miatas? i learned about them a while back and a set of them was relatively cheap. i installed them a while back when i did my alignment. the install was hard because my old control arm bushings are all worn out. Do you see them as a necessary or usable miata mod?
Could the weight of the engine have anything to do with your steering? Are you saying it just feels heavy, or do you feel like it is binding? Could you need an upgraded steering rack of some kind? Also, what about a resonator that is longer? Going down in diameter will certainly affect the noise, but what about trying one that is longer, allowing the gases to remain in resonance longer, but not affecting the flow too much. I don't know much about sound waves and the effects of resonator length, chamber diameter, chamber porting, and pipe size.
If you back purge in the future it will make it not just higher quality, but also easier on you. Stainless when backpurged flows easier and is more consistent. Other that that keep up the good work!
Concentrate on your heat control and keep your filler wire under the gas shield, while maintaining a tight arc, try running lower amps for that .065”? Wall exhaust tubing. Something like 55-60amps is MORE than enough. I personally do less than that, if I’m not in the mood to be pedaling. You can try something as low as 45-50 and it should help, .035” wire is perfect for that size tubing. Especially when the part becomes heat soaked. Weld looks a little too hot but still pretty good! Also a Furick #12 fupa cup will do wonders for welding anything you can imagine. Also look into pedal pulsing, and doing strict fusion on exhaust tubing. It’s a lot stronger than you think.
Sounds great, yeah some rasp but hey its a short resonator. You know watching video it 'almost' wants to self steer you'd see it move ever so far like it was wanting to but sort of stalled doing it then you had to correct. I'd look at your geometries hell these days even a go pro looking at suspension look for a angle that's binding it or something. Just something I noticed. Hope you get it solved its a sick little car.
Ps: Glad to see you got Matt on speed dial, give the brother a link in your info box next time, guy has stupid low subs for what he's done in the LS community.
If your steering shaft is still touching the header like you mentioned I’d bet it’s effecting the steering a lot more than you’d think. Especially when the motor moves
I don't know much about dry sumps, but I'd think your Miata stays running cooler, because theirs a oil cooler and the oil is stored so far from the engine there's not as much heat soaking. I'm sure the bigger rad fans help a bunch also.
People who have never driven a miata don’t understand how much fun they are! People who have never driven an ls miata don’t understand how much more fun u can have in a miata 😝 Answer is always miata!!!

Good point for sure, pretty difficult to properly do it on the ground with a low car, but on the other hand you could always have it lifted on blocks.
Lower the Car on the Lift and Build blocks to set the car on. A lot of people do this with home alignments

they're busy sponsoring Tom's Turbo Garage!

His channel is quite small in the big scheme of things
It would be cool if you could run a nitrous bottle heater on the oil tank that had an auto cutoff when the oil temp got to XX degrees. Would make warming it up a lot faster.
Sounds mean as hell, great job man. Can’t wait to see the new wheels. Your car is sick, I love it.👍
Whoooooohoooohoooo!!!! That is a perfect tone with them crispy revs to boot... Stoked for the progress 💪🏼😎
Adding positive caster actually increases straight line stability and provides self steering.
Andrew Grierson was looking for this comment, I figure he got it mixed with camber, as high negative camber will lose straight line stability.
Love the voice over you did for the resonator!
Miata, welds, and hair cut on point. Props
try the rule off 3 for stainless when u have issues. 33% on time 33%background and 33 pulses per second. iitll really help on thin stuff
Heh it’s a beautiful day in Utah sunny and 65*! It’s not often I can say that! It’s either misery level cold or mind blowing heat! Hell yeah your finally doing real caster adjustments!

I had no idea I wanted a Miata......Then Taylor Ray appeared in my feed! This is why I tune in! Thanks Taylor!
I fucking felt that oil pressure talk lmao.
I rebuilt the LS that I swapped into my cressida and I'm always watching my oil pressure gauge.
Low on oil pressure, high on freedom
U should add that resinator closer to start to lose that sound. Idling sound so good!
I think it has a weird sound because the exhaust is pointed down so the sound is bouncing off the ground don't get me wrong I like pie cuts
Sounds so good with that new resonator. Hell yeah
its time for a true dyno tune
Didn’t back purge the stainless
Not sure what front suspension you got, but I have over tightened ball joints before and had the same issue with self steer. It just would not return back. May be something to look at brother
Steve your friend has the 5.3 LS Swapped miata right? i wonder if it would be good to ask him if his car has any problem with self steering
Pretty sure that dude doesn't drift his miata so he shouldn't notice as much, but it still would be a good idea to ask him.
Edit: They also probably have very different suspension setups. Taylor has an angle kit, his friend probably doesn't.
Add caster, he had issues w the same thang . Unless it’s too much self steer then take some caster away.
What type of tig welder do you have

Does your alignment machine thing work better than toe plate. Like accuracy wise

Do you see them as a necessary or usable miata mod?
such a big difference between the two resonators ! Love the new sound, keep the good work !
New exhaust sounds sick!
Awesome, mean sound! I love it! All the best, Rob
Sounds perfect!
Hell yeah brother! More Miata content!
I love owning my dream Miata vicariously through you lol!!!
the knuckle is binding in your steering column
Dig these uploads 🤙🏻 keep me coming
What’s the link to that resonator? Sounds great!
Try Black Widow neighbor hater or race venom muffler, they sound fantastic!
Whenever im about to do something to my 5.3 swap I always watch if taylor already did it first and if it worked or not. Works perfectly 😂

What was the old setup on the exhaust, question is prior to watching vid?
You should make a few hangers for the z's exhaust now that it's down
18:23
Taylor: "Still not too drone-y at all"
Me: Rewind, because I can't hear over the drone.
ya, id say them all running played in the bears head for sure but its not the primal factor.
Thanks to Cleetus (Garrett Mitchell) mistake that I found your channel :)
Taylor *wears seat time > mods shirt* *builds sick LS Miata with all the mods u can imagine* 😅
Damn that sounds so damn good. Never realised how much a smaller resonator changes the sound
Lucky you with your good weather, it snowed for me yesterday.
That body kit is missing a duck bill
Who makes the 3.5" resenator, Taylor?
You should bring back the underglow...would look awesome under that kit...👌
Green?
I’m so excited to hear the Miata in person😍
Shouldn't resonators function better the further up the system they are placed?
Yeah, and there's usually a muffler placed where his resonator is right now.
When you adjust the alignment front and rear independent of each other. How do you check/adjust the Thrust Angle?
James Smith i usually make a perfect square around my car.
Hey Taylor I put that same resonator on my 99 Silverado with not cats and sounds great
In order to focus on the weld pull the camera away and zoom in with the lens and adjust accordingly
If you back purge in the future it will make it not just higher quality, but also easier on you. Stainless when backpurged flows easier and is more consistent. Other that that keep up the good work!
Taylor you gave yourself that McNasty’s hairstyle goodjob :)
Dude it’s wild that a Miata sounds like a 5.0 mustang
Very nice sound! I think Sandy would approve it too ;-)

New resonator sounds amazing!
Where can you purchase similar alignment tools?
google diy alignment
Not saying it sounds like a drift car... but it sounds like a drift car. I love it! Has a very distinct sounds and is awesome!
Dude that smaller resonator sounds amazing
sounds so good! Approved
Taylor pls do us all a favor and add motorcycle content to your channel ❤️👍🏾
He used to do mad pitbike wheelies.
Sounds great, yeah some rasp but hey its a short resonator. My guess y it sounds like that is it's a single exhaust out it sounds better with 2 but won't look as good
sounds very nice, and how heavy are those front wheels? try some lighter wheels or something maybe that'd help?
Where do you guys go to drift at those organized events and legal drift tracks. I live in Ocala and I just want to know, Thanks
A magnapack would sound on it!
Turns out my rack was bad btw lol. Adding caster made it go the rest of the way. Time to depower! Also, get equal length headers. Will fix that rasp.
Take it to fasterproms get Jeremy to make some power
The Miata is a beast, also clean that damn crusty ass console it makes my ocd that I don't have buzz.
What brand is that resonator
That's sounds soooo good!!!
Man I know it costs some dough but I’d love to see you rip the burn yard with Hert and the boys at Hoonigan.
It costs money to do the yard? How much?
Nazty604 Nah man at least not that I know of, I just meant cause it’s a cross country trip.
Looks exactly like the cheap chinese resonator i used on my turbo cherokee.
Brother, what is that ECU box? Who makes it and do you love it? Seems like such a great idea really want to check it out for my build. Thanks.
If your steering shaft is still touching the header like you mentioned I’d bet it’s effecting the steering a lot more than you’d think. Especially when the motor moves
A friends pro am car was barely touching and wouldn’t self steer and would completely lock up on transfers every once in a while
Still wondering why the exhuast isn't coming out of the fenders
What a novel idea, using a glove to protect you hand from tools!
Scott Frank just not power saws lol
I don't know much about dry sumps, but I'd think your Miata stays running cooler, because theirs a oil cooler and the oil is stored so far from the engine there's not as much heat soaking. I'm sure the bigger rad fans help a bunch also.
That and because of the sheer volume of oil that is in the system now. Takes alot more heat to get 8-10qts of oil hot than 4-5
It sounds so good 😭
What alignment tool is that? Where did you get it?
Sounds why better with the new resonator 👍🏼🤘🏼😎
Let’s go Taylor!!
Dam sound likes a race car
im glad you back on that style of explaining.
im just little bit angry that you dont show how much clearance you showed.
I started cutting my own hair now, honestly like it better
Should talk to cleedus tuner Jermey he is awesome
People who have never driven a miata don’t understand how much fun they are! People who have never driven an ls miata don’t understand how much more fun u can have in a miata 😝
Answer is always miata!!!
Almost as fun as an MR2
What Rear Upper Control arms do you run bud? ?!
These are some random brand. I’m going to get some destroy or die ones soon!
Taylor Ray ever heard of circuit motor sports? I was looking at theirs but can’t find anyone that’s run them or knows of them..
You going to Cleetus and Cars Taylor?
Sounds great
That music sounds familiar like from rocket league when he moved the subie :T
I like engine sounds over exhaust thatsjust me lol love ur channel
im telling you put a flowmaster where you keep putting the resonators.. maybe like a super 10 or somthing
Need more Sandy content.
Sounds like a demented wildabeast on WOT good lord! Should have done a nice electric exhaust cutout setup
this music makes me feel like im watching a cleetus video
Righttt I was just thinking the Sam thing lol
I was hoping you'd make a louder exhaust for drift events! It sounds really aggressive now!
What happened to your cool intros! 😂
Where are you going drifting this weekend I’d like to come, I’m in the Tampa Bay Area too.
Someone send Taylor some lint rollers!
Sean trust me they have😂
