    I want to note two things. One, Not all parts on eBay are cheap or bad. Obviously name brand parts are sold on eBay, But past that, there are cheap parts that work as well if not better than expensive versions. Bad expensive brands. Good cheap brands. I’ve learned a lot of this after working in the parts industry. Would anyone want to see a video on this? Where and when to buy cheap parts. What parts are the same. Different. Etc? How it all works?

    Taylor, I hope you realise that you are going to have to remove the drive belt and spin the pump to prime the oil system BEFORE you start the engine. It is going to take some time to fill all those lines, cooler , filter and engine oil passages!

    Wouldn’t it be better if the oil filter is upside down? So when you change the oil the oil doesn’t go every where and so the oil goes all the way through the filter

    • @lilbatman636
      @lilbatman636 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It shouldn't matter, there will be plenty of oil pressure with the dry sump system. Also majority of the oil will come out through the pan. But I see where there could be a concern.

    • @sirbow2
      @sirbow2 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@lilbatman636 youre saying it will back drain through the cooler and pump? that doesnt seem likely. The best location, imo would have been on the outside of the frame rail infront of the wheel. Itd be better if the filter housing had the fittings on the side.

    • @lb9gta307
      @lb9gta307 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It'll work fine. Lot's of cartrage oil filters are mounted like that. As for changing the filter, he just needs to put some cardboard under it to direct the oil into a drain pan.

  • @Z32orDIe

    Your oil feed and return line on your oil cooler itself are backwards it can cause air to cavitate in your oil cooler which will reduce the volume of oil that comes in contact with a cooler which reduces the efficiency at which the oil cooler can cool the oil. Typically you want the inlet to be on the bottom and the outlet to be on the top that way as any air gets sucked into your line and through the oil cooler and it will go into the bottom naturally rise to the top as are does and then get pulled out through the top line. If you have the feed into the top and then out of the bottom when the air gets pulled through the line into the oil cooler air will want to rise naturally it doesn't want to sink so the air bubbles are going to get trapped in the top of the oil cooler while the heavier oil sinks to the bottom and gets sucked out through your outlet line. If you reverse your current Inlet and Outlet lines that will allow the oil to go into the bottom with the air and then come out of the top with the air. Your current setup lets the oil in and out but traps the air

    I hope you are taking oil drain back in to account with that remote filter location.
    In wet sump systems, getting the proper anti-drainback valve oil filter is critical to retaining some oil in the filter for cold starts.
    With the upside down position, make sure it's right.
    It would suck to run a fancy dry sump to keep it oiled while drifting but have cold starts fuck up the engine.
    Also, as stated previously, that upside down placement will probably make oil filter changes very messy.

  • @Volcomkrew2
    @Volcomkrew2 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hey Taylor just and idea with the filter. Lofs of people have mentioned putting it im the trunk which i agree with, but instead of running lines all the way to the front; what is stopping you from putting the filter between the sump tank and the engine using the sump line? Same idea as putting in an inline fuel filter.

  • @matthewhall9530
    @matthewhall9530 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’d put some shielding around the line from the filter to to oil port on the block just to be safe. Plus the cooler won’t do much if the line after it goes right past the header and gets heated back up.

    Your normally supposed to run into the bottom of the cooler then out of the top so you don't get air bubbles trapped in the cooler but it should be fine with the high flow rate you have.

  • @boardbysled

  • @BeastZ06

    Why Teflon vs standard braided hose for oil lines? Maybe I missed it earlier. For some reason, I thought it was a good idea to be able to gravity drain from the dry sump tank to the pump inlet? Same for the tank vent can.

  • @Serxne_
    @Serxne_ 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I agree with a lot of the others posting. Changing the filter might become a messy ordeal, even if it drains down. You'll still have residual oil from the filter hitting your bay. Perhaps a drain chute would be best on the bottom side of the oil filter between the housing and the bay that would drain toward the front end of the car (Keep the dripping oil away from the headers will increase their longevity, after all). Overall, you did an excellent job in this video, Taylor. Keep up the hard work. The drone shots were great, albeit, cutting in and out of them made the intro feel disconnected. Maybe in the future do a majority of the intro walk from the house to the pool door, then do the drone shot from the pool door to when you open the garage door as one shot.
