I was late to the channel and have basically binge watched every episode! Absolutely amazing job by you and your Dad . When there is so much negative stuff on the Internet it's lovely to see you both working away, and loving every minute of it. It's an amazing transformation so far, can't wait for the next episodes!

I find watching this skilled work absolutely compelling. Love old minis.
My favourite part (with the possible exception of the cant rails) is, if I’m honest, the beer fridge.
Dad off to the fridge straight away for straight away for some Old Speckled Hen, LOL. Can be got down here in NZ if you look and not a bad drop too. I know it was brewed in Abington where the MG was made (before China), hence the octagon logo. An English mate of ours by the name of Sparkes had his 70th recently and another mate who brews his own did a special brew for him, complete with octagon logo and the words "Old Sparkled Cock". Having owned 2 Minis a MK3 1000 and a 1275GT I am really enjoying your build

Another better than factory finish job lads. Gee those two piece head linings are easier than the spars and glue required for our Aussie minis! Bit jealous of that to be honest.

Excellent work gentlemen. Getting the strength back in to the shell is very important . There is no chance of dehydration setting in with your dad in control of the fridge.

My Dad needed an operation so had to have a bid of down time before the op, and now recovering from it, he’s doing well though. I’ve been super busy with my work, and then after escaping it for the last two+ year I caught a really bad case of Covid, just about over it now though. I bet you which you never asked haha!
We’ll hopefully back with more updates soon though, look forward sharing to some more progress on the Mini and other projects.

Loving watching these, how is the build going and do you have a video on a mk1 bonnet conversion? I’ve heard a van one may work?
Great progress gents. Are you taking out the c pillar strengthening plates / seatbelt mounts as not sure they were fitted to the mk1?
I’ll have to leave them in as it will be required for the age of the car.

Superb work as always chaps(both on the mini..and the drinks selection!!) with the fitting of the headlining you are so close to having a shell that would fool 95% of the public that it wasn't a genuine MK1...but any thoughts about the rear seat panel not having the factory rotisary hole ,I know it's more work but could you switch it for the one in the MK2 shell?, it would then be correct even with the boot open? sorry, just a thought!
Hi thank you 😁👍 we’re actually about to take a look at fitting the rear seat panel in this morning, hopefully have that in in the next episode 😁👍
@@upbuild4397 looks like you have everything covered!! The only other difference I can think of is the front subframe mountings/crossmember/front panel differences, any thoughts there?
We’ll probably leave the subframe but we need to decide if we’re going to change the tunnel where the gear shift comes through, to accept the remote shift.
@@upbuild4397 forgot the tunnel! Not that straight forward as the floor is higher at the front so the seat cross member has a different profile, I'm sure it can be done, I've built mine is with a solid mounted front panel on a rubber mount car, you need solid rear mounts or things start flexing, all the best, you are nearly there!

I totally enjoy watching you guys go about this restoration / conversion and have followed it from day 1. I was tickled to see the sun barely over the yard arm and dad open the fridge to grab a coldie! I do have a question on the passenger side cant rail, above the B pillar. Is it my eyes, or does the profile actually dip, in contrast to the driver's side rail, in the same place?
There was a bit of tension in the panels when I took them out of the other shell so it’s created a little bit of a dip but it appears to be more noticeable on the camera than in reality. I’ve looked at quite a few pictures of mk1 headlinings and noticed this in them.

Just found your channel because of your Sand blaster video you did what size compressor do you use? Litres of tank and CFM'S was thinking of buying one mum loves your vids too as she had a mini back in the 60s great vids keep um coming.

This is the compressor we used in the video th-cam.com/video/tOaiwNxbAcw/w-d-xo.html i think it was about a 7cfm.
It worked well but just not for very long, we needed to stop every 2-3 minutes to allow the air compressor to build pressure. If you’re patient and don’t mind wait for the compressor to keeps up it works great.
We’ve since bought a new upright 18.5cfm 150lt Clarke compressor www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clarke-ve18c150-18cfm-industrial-vertical-elec-2/ , which can run continuously with the 2.5mm nozzle.

Great time-consuming work, I know you have tried to explain it in a few videos but not understood what is the benefit of changing these cant rails?
Hi.
The mk1 Cant rail is different, so finish’s off the area above the door and the rear quarter window. Without it there would be a gap above the door and window.
