Mrs. Malini, my congratulations for these wonderful videos you made, and the tribute to my special homeland!!! Crete!!! I come from Moires, Heraklion, Crete, in Messara!!! Thank you very much, be well always!!! Christos '75.
Thanks, Malini, for bringing tears to my eyes seeing all these so familiar places, but especially " The Oropaidion" in Lassithi where I grew up, and where I still own " a large garden in its plateau". From Atlanta Ga. USA, my sincere thanks to you. So beautiful!
Crete - the loveliest people I have ever met (with Mali coming a not too distant second). It can't be overemphasised how lovely the people of Crete are. Very special place.
Hi Malini, I like you, love Crete. I had such a great time touring the island in a hire vehicle. Snow covered mountain ranges and warm Mediterranean waters, great people and delicious food. Thanks for renewing some great memories of so many familiar locations for me. 💖
Was Lucky to have thw opportunity to live there in 87-90, about 2-3 years. I was many times in the lassithi village as well. Some of the best years of my life
These travel videos by Malini are done beautifully ! With a quality that’s hard to define. BTW the videographer has a Fine appreciation of our host, and I thank him for that .
Love to katerina , 🙏 this is a great explore ,enjoy the old school traditional thinking ,great minds think alike. Would like to visit this beutifull place and see it first hand ,
My mother's Parents came from Greece and I dearly love my Greek ancestry. My Grandparents were from Sparta and Athens. During my Marine Corps days back in 1973, I was ship bound to the Mediterranean and briefly stopped at Crete. I was in heaven! Thanks so much for this interesting and informative adventure. You made my week!
I love watching all your videos. You give a real sense of what it's like to be there.... Also, you are so pretty to watch too! Nice for an old man like me. 😊
Your videos are truly of exceptional quality. Your delivery is excellent (like, professional quality), you're conversational and natural, and it's nice to see a TH-camr video who doesn't make you cringe when they interact with the locals. You can tell you're really interested and genuinely engaged. Even your Greek usage is far better than most. Congratulations, I hope you get many more followers.
Thank you for such a lovely comment 🙏🙏 I’m glad you enjoy the videos and yes we love to travel and immerse ourselves in the local culture, learning about different cultures and traditions, I’m glad to know that you think that comes across in the videos!! Thank you 😁😊
I was thinking precisely the same. Malini is a genuine traveller who interacts with the natives of the beautiful places where she travels. Unlike many presenters who are just 'tourists' who travel to a destination, look down on others, and utter the memorized script.
Our wonderful host is as beautiful as the Cretan scenery! Blessings and peace for the New Year from Plymouth Michigan. By the way our grand mother was nona not yiayia.
Really enjoy the locations you choose to present. Most travel shows tell the same stories about the same famous locations. Keep finding obscure, beautiful places!
Your video making reminded me that video we watch in childhood, ( discovery documentary about the places ) in the ear of vlogging, you came up with these reminiscing perspectives.
Crete was one of the cradles of civilization. Modern day Crete cannot be compared to the glory of ancient Crete. Even today archaeologists do not know who the creators were of ancient Crete or the land of the Minoans, but they have left behind amazing frescoes of how the Cretan world look like 5000 years ago. The images of women clothed in grand clothes, multistoried buildings, awesome sculptures, the frescoes of the bull grappling sport, boxing match, a fisherman returning with his catch and numerous others. The whole thing is mind blowing. What is unbelievable is that the Cretans were dark complexioned and handsome. The women were very beautiful. After Arthur Evans discovered Crete, someone vandalized the frescoes and tried to paint the figures white to show that the Cretans were Europeans. which they were not. Greek mythology combines a lot of Cretan culture, especially the story of the Minotaur and the labyrinth. The people of the four greatest civilizations of the world, the Indus, the Sumerian, the Cretan and the Egyptian were all dark complexioned. Of the four the Indus was the oldest and the greatest, followed by Sumer, Crete and Egypt. But Crete was the most colorful. I wish the anchor would have shown the magic frescoes of Crete.
This is a load of bullshit. Cretans were not dark complexioned, they were tanned and you can see it from the different color of women (they are painted white} because they were staying inside the house. Also, leaving out the Greco Roman civilization from the greatest civilizations while you live in a republic, your country takes part in the Oympic Games, you use the Latin alphabet and you have science filled with Greek and Latin words is a little funny. And the last thing, no one vandalized the frescoes, they were reconstructed by Evans himself, something that was not continued in later excavations.
@@sonofnothing2714 Thank you for the comments. Europe contributed almost nothing to the world in c, 3000 BCE. They were barbarians. Later they became exploiters and slave traders. The Alphabets do not come from Latin but from the Sumerian language. Cretans were dark complexioned and there can be no doubt about it. Local people never get tanned. It is only those who are outsiders get tanned and they are too few. As for Evans, the less said the better. The white paintings are not Europeans. They were waiting to be painted. Europe has had nothing to do with the cradles of civilization.
Also there is history for many years of blond blue eyed cretans in a southern part. Many are dark some fair like most cultures.even some 100 per scandinavians can be dark brown eyed. It doesnt matter
@@janeslater8004 When India was invaded by the Indo-Aryans, who were of European stock - white skinned, golden haired and blue eyed people were reported in Afghanistan according to Sumerian literature. Today India is rolling in various shades of brown color. The Indo-Aryan religion and culture is there, but there are no signs of the Indo-Aryans. They got mixed up.
I like travel videos in general, but this channel is by far the best i had seen. I hope you keep up the good work, the subscribers will eventually come.
Top documentary, Malini! Wonderful photography and a charming natural-communicator presenter, called Malini!!:-))) So much better than the boring rubbish that comes out of many famous traditional tv channels.
I thought ( "oregano" = marjoram) and (" wild comino" =cumin = sage) in English " were Spanish words ?? But they are Greek words, We in honduras 🇭🇳 we use those condiments every day!!😁💯💯👍
A lot of vegetables came from the Americas and those from the Mediterranean came from the Spanish. They were exported to Europe by the Spanish such as potatoes and oregano by the Spanish to the Americas. However, this history was suppressed due to the Anglo-Saxon American rewriting of history against Spanish and Native Americans. Also many Europeans today are not aware due to historical white supremacist bias against the people of the Americas and the Spanish empire, which initiated trade between New and Old world and also prevented the Islamic takeover of much of Europe. We in China are appreciative of what came from the Americas .
Oreganos viene de las palabras griegas oros (montaña) y ganos (alegría). Pues orégano significa "alegría de las montañas". El kymino es palabra de origen semítico.
I watched this with my elderly mother-in-law who is grew up in Heraklion but left 50 years ago. She said your video "made her night."
