- After the pure excitement of upgrading my 5040UB with the Epson 6050UB, imagine my disappointment when I had to replace the unit - multiple times.
Epson's customer service is excellent and reminded me of AppleCare's back in the early 2000s.
Epson is a great company. I bought a 5010ub in June 2012. I had no problems till Sept. 2017. Then it would not power on. So I wanted to ask Epson where I could get it fixed. The 2 year warranty of course had run out. I used the customer card that came with pj in box to call them just find a place to get it repaired. When I called and told them my problem and wanted to find a the place to get it repaired the CSR said hold on I will be right back. When he came back he said we will send you a refurbished 5010 on a WARRANTY EXCEPTION meaning no warranty. And they did, it blew me away how great was that.
That’s an awesome example of commitment to their customers! The customer service was exceptional and I haven’t had any issues on this new replacement. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Appreciate your thoughts. I went with the Benq HT5550 instead of the Epson. I too would prefer a native 4k projector but the jump in price is quite large. I look forward to your next video.
Thanks!!
I believe it will be a few more years before 4K projectors are in my personal price range.
Am about to bay 5040ub for e bay and am worried about the power issues with this model it's popular issues?
What your advice?
I'd skip it and look for a good deal on a 5050. Since Epson just released its replacement, you should be able to find a good deal.
Good video but how close to the screen can you start seen the pixel?
3 feet.
if you do a upgrade like a 4k native projector which one would you go for?
Probably the new JVC models, unless Epson makes an entry to the market.
I Had a epson pro 6010 and it came with 2 bulbs. The projector died after 4 years and i was still on the first bulb. Warranty was past and epson told me it was not repairable. Found a second 6010 and it too died after 2 years.
Now with what your saying i am afraid to buy epson
I need to make a video with the information I’ve learned since releasing this one. I’ll say this; I think the electronics industry as a whole expects upgrades before equipment fails.
