I do think her career would have been more interesting if she hadn’t sung it. It seemed to eclipse everything she had done before it, and everything she did after didn’t match it. Even David Foster told her not to sing it.

I like the song, no it’s not my favorite Céline Dion song, that would be “To Love You More” with the violins. But I think some of the backlash was due in part to the fact that there are some people that just don’t like anything once it becomes popular, it’s “too mainstream“ and they just have to bash it.

People nowadays have no reason to hate it. Being alive in 1997, this song was shoved down everyone's throat. And around that time Celine was everywhere at the same time. It was the explosion of her anglophone career around the time when JJ Goldman's pen just finished cementing her stranglehold on francophone pop charts. So basically, it's the relentlessness of the song and the ubiquity of the artist.
Anyone who didn't have to go through that time should really have nothing to say against the song. It's a perfectly serviceable pop song by a very competent artist.

You lost me when all you could call her is “confident “. She’s a wonderful, very musically musicianship, I can’t think of a better word, artist full of artistry and great improvisation skills as well as emotive ability. Not to mention incredible range and power , Versatility, and agility. All of that just means competent, then I guess everybody should crave to be competent!

Although, not my favorite Celine Dion song, I really enjoy it! Celine Dion’s albums are usually criticized which is something I recently discovered. The lyrics aren’t that deep, and can even be cookie cutter, but they’re not bad--plus I think her vocal skills are what makes the songs enjoyable! I also feel like critics in the west were sometimes flat out bogus to her for no reason. My family is Nigerian, so when I went Nigeria in 2007 I was surprised to how popular she is there! I swear I heard “I’m Alive” in a Nigerian movie 💀💀💀💀. She’s definitely one of my favorites along with Mariah, Whitney, Barbara, etc!

I think I was in 1st grade when this "My Heart Will Go On" peaked in popularity. I remember riding in the car with my family and we all got increasingly annoyed as three different radio stations were playing it at the exact same time. If you weren't around in 1998, it's hard to comprehend just how inescapable this song was. That said, 24 years later it's one of my favorites of all time. There's a reason it got overplayed, it's GOOD.

it’s simple. people love to hate on popular things just so they can be called different and unique. this song stood the test of time and is still relevant despite everything. it’s a good song, and Céline singing it makes it 100x better. now i admit it’s mellow at first but one you get to the climax (that epic key change!), Céline’s emotions just take over and you cant help but be moved by that voice and delivery.

her concert earning are now worth 1-billion US-dollar, considering how she is now losing her voice - its fair to say that people actually love her and will happily pay for her concert no matter what. As far as I'm concerned people just want to say negative things about her and her music because she prefer to stay as a cheesy singer/ballader. She prefer to laugh at people who openly mock her & Rene. As for My Heart Will Go On - I'm kinda confused as I had never heard people actually angry or annoyed at it. It actually made people tear up. She's one of those singer's who people prefer to shut up and just sit and listen to even at concert. When I look for critics, its mostly American's and British's who're annoyed that she don't do the show-girl trope and Maxim - really? A men's magazine? Pretty sure its obvious they won't like it. Bet they will like it if the music vid is her in bunny suit and dry humping the boat 😂😂😂

MHWGO was such big hit that it was overplayed, and when you're as big as somebody as Céline, you're always prone to all of this negatives. 20+ years later, it's remembered as a timeless classic and not even those critics can deny that.

The song was just played everywhere. it was part of the plan to get the song out there everywhere anywhere and guess what it works today to its just on youtube and radios. Why do you think radio stations play the top ten songs every other hours. This was also considered the last great movie song because the movie was made and Cameron did not want a song, the songwriter came up with the chords and lyrics, and Celine Dion only sang it ONCE in a demo and thats the recording we hear. Vary rarely do we ever see something like come all togeather with a movie predicted to be a box office failure.
Her French songs showcase more of her flexibility in her range and genres. But in the US she reigned during the time of souring ballads, and most american fans don't know her anyway else. Her Ballads are the reason why shes consdiered one of the vocal trinity

So other people shades her because of these reasons: (The reasons of haters does not make sense) Now people doesn't like her because she married a old man twice divorced many people called her "money hunger singer" because of Rene (because Rene created her fame but the truth is it's on Celine) but that does not explain it, Celine truly found love in Rene because of their journey, their journey was all wonderful and iconic love is love there's nothing that they can do to what Celine felt for Rene, Rene is sweet to Celine at all times so that's how Celine realized it and fell inlove with Rene, for the people who's currently hating her you are not Celine you do not know what she felt about their relationship it was wonderful I should say. And second is her singing style like her mouth movements or her accents while singing or the R-ish accent while singing, well specifically those haters does not know what music truly is music comes from art it's still considered as a music if its raspy different accent or different singing style (singing style is always accepted in muscics history and people cannot accept Celine's voice? LMAO) they do not know the meaning of music I should say Celine may have a accent in live performance or either studio songs her songs will go on and still Iconic singing style does not matter in music industry, I watched a interview of a shady person she said she hates the accent and also she hates that the song is annoying, if she was annoyed about the music then get out of music history remember that Celine became an famous artist or singer because of her powerful vocals the same as Mariah and Whitney that's why she's one of the vocal trinity (and more, people hated her for being dramatic while singing duh in music history when you sing you must put yourself in that state of emotion, you may notive her live performances where sometimes she looks sad and happy when happy songs arrives, singing with emotion is the key for her to do that performance to success) and other haters cannot accept that althought shady peoples won't accept her but in society that's quite the normal one but people doesn't learn lessons (still) they cannot accept Celine became a famous and well known in the whole world everywhere she deserves her fame and she's living in her best life and one thing too people thought Celine was demonic? LOL I cannot get rid of that in my mind, she isn't demonic that's the trend she was using (ofcourse people would use it so shecan be hatred) but as I remember I met her in France she was super kind and none demonic as it looks like she's like an angel she even let me take a 15 picture LOL that's quite many but that's how kind she is and when fans say "she is very kind" god servant feelers sorrounds them saying "she's Demonic" LOL, and lsat but not least most haters body shames her for being "too thin" Celine likes being thin at 90's you can see she's thin but not until 2017-2019 they told her she was a bit too thin although that's true but remember she's struggling due to her lost of her ones who she really loves especially her mother passed away in 2020, haters are hating her because she's not that good at singing but the reason is she's graving and cannot accept that fact Celine said "If you like taking photos of me you can take it, but if you don't then don't, I won't force you if you hate me" Celine is already at success but critics doesn't accept her looks this days until 2022 she arrived healthy and ready to perform but still she cancels the tour for her own good now folk haters Celine takes care of herself cause she knows how to take care of herself as a mother and she has a family that who she really loves and does not want to lose them again, remember when Celine said "It's not sad when they pass away because they are up there now with god, but thing I was really sad for is to see them suffer" Celine was always in success and people cannot let her get off of that situation no matter what they do fans will always protect her because she's lovable and one of the most gracious singer/stars (as a fan I'm here to always protect her no matter what happens but society doesn't changed well seems normal, but it's ok because I did one of my job here) We love you Celine! Yes, many of her songs might be deamed too commercial ("Let's Talk About Love" being the biggest offender and IMO, her worst major album) but the beauty and clarity of her voice and the wonder of her unique vocal stylings still thrill me after all these years (her soft, breathy vocals at the intro of MHWGO, building up to a crescendo still move me)...and yes, I am Canadian so happy to state that I'm pretty biased when it comes to our Celine :)

@@rnbmatters8224 dolly's version is superior. But the bodyguard version is meh. Whitney has much better ballads than that

@@takemyhand1988 it definitely did. #1 on the country charts twice with dolly for the original and when she rerecorded in the 80’s then #1 on hot 100 with whitney. Nothing whitney sang in the early/mid 90’s was meh. She’s from the church, with an anointing, a feeling in the music. Celine could never as much as she tries now with her fake growls. Came from the church!

Lots of blame is placed on critics but I have to hold the comedians accountable. They say things in jest for laughter and people take it as fact and run with it. It reminds me of Beyonce single ladies. Awesome song but the parodies depending on the way you looked at it dimmed the message while making the choreography and costume the standouts.
