One correction : Umar ibn Khattab (R) never hated Khalid ibn waleed (R). He was reminding the people that victory comes from Allah. We are merely humans and we must be humble and praise Allah for what we have achieved.

When I would eat something unhealthy it would race hard.
One night it was racing hard and a tall figure in white appeared and was praying towards the picture of Jesus in my room, he said something like “please don’t let him die from a heart attack”, then soon after he disappeared and I heard the audible voice of God tell me some stuff then that voice stopped then I felt my body being lifted and life being pumped back into my heart and I was healed thank God, Jesus is God and He is very loving and a miracle worker.

@@One1ye19 There was a case where a woman was being tried for a crime that was punishable by a very large sum of money or long imprisonment, she begged the judge to have mercy for she sincerely regretted what she had done but she was a widow with no money and with little children to feed so she could not pay the fine or go to jail. The judge said no, because he needed to serve the law and ensure justice. Therefore, he passed the sentence as required. However, then he took out his own check book and wrote the check for that woman for the the sum of the fine and gave it to her out of his own pocket. (true story by the way).
God declared "I am just (no wrong can go unpunished by God's law and He will ensure that) and I am merciful (I will show you mercy)". Therefore, God had to stay true to his word. This is the dilemma. E.g., how do you punish some pedophile who married a 6 year old child and penetrated her when she was a prepubescent 9 years old girl still playing with dolls and on swings, and, at the same time you show him mercy and forgive this misguided man.
God, does not break his own laws, so the only way to solve this dilemma and ensure that divine justice is carried out, is for someone else who is totally innocent to accept the punishment for the guilty of anything and everything imaginable. Therefore, God himself came to us in a form of a man and accepted his own punishment prescribed by his own laws to us and in place of us, in order to ensure all the wrongs are punished according to his law and justice is done. Therefore, God now can truly grant mercy and full forgiveness to all who truly in their hearts sincerely regret and repent (commit to making restitution and strive to never do wrong again) for what wrong they have done.
God does not assign anyone to be punished, there are simply God's (universal order) Laws, and if people do not obey them, they will suffer consequences. To make an analogy, these are like gravity, if you jump off a 1,000 meter high cliff naked, you will hit the bottom hard and die, remember, it is not the fall that kills you. It is the sudden stop at the end. It is simply the law of gravity, you have free will to jump or not. Once you have jumped off, it does not matter if you know what is going to happen or you are completely clueless that what you have done is certain death, there is no way of going back, at at this stage, then only a miracle of God can save you before you hit that rock bottom.

Have you lied (even once in your entire life), looked with lust (sexual desire), dishonoured parents, stolen anything, had hatred towards someone, had premarital sex, adultery etc If you answered yes to any one of the above then you are a sinner like the rest of us.
So, I ask you again, why should God let a sinner into Heaven?
Sinners don’t go to heaven they go to hell, But we are blessed to have Jesus (God incarnate) die on the Cross and rise from the dead. If you Repent (forsake your sinful, unholy ways and live righteous instead) & Believe in Jesus as God, you will be seen as a Saint and welcomed into Heaven.

An Arab somewhere in the desert, kicked out of his city and in a war with his own people, promising his companions the treasures of the strongest empire on earth back then. And his promise was fullfilled within a lifetime. It's hard to wrap your head around this, really.

    Great stuff! 2 corrections:
    1. Omar did not take off Khalid as the commander of the army because he thought he had political ambitions! He demoted him because he didn't want people to idolize him thinking that victory was because of him, and not because of God's support. This is because people started saying that as long as Khalid's the commander, we are absolutely winning, and that to Omar was something ungodly because people were placing their confidence not in God, but in Khalid. Dr. Roy went on to say that when Omar met the Roman bishop, he was dressed in rags saying he was a simple man who is satisfied with a simple meal. How could a man like that fear that someone else would take the leadership away from him? In fact, when the first caliph died, Omar was so reluctant to be the 2nd caliph that the people literally had to beg him because he thought it was too big of a responsibility to assume and he feared he might do something unjust that can upset God. He was extremely nit-picky about what he said and he kept having second doubts continuously asking himself: "Did I do what pleases God? Did I say the right thing?"
    2. When Khalid was on his deathbed, he said: "..it was my wish to die in the field of battle, and now I die in this bed, just as a camel would die" he said a camel, not a cow.
Other than that, this was a magnificent lecture and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Upon being asked he said I wanted to die as a martyr and get the pleasure of my lord, but i will not be able to do it, because i am a sword of Allah, and the sword of Allah can never break. He knew he will not die on the battle ground.
Omar and khalid had quite understanding and love and friendship for each other, a sense of brotherhood(for both being a servant of God).

Great lecture and absolutely amazing delivery. Though, I was surprised when the professor claimed that Omar hated Khalid. I don't know which source he read that in, but probably an orientalist source rather than an original. We, Muslims, have our complete history written and preserved, we wrote extensively on the biographies of our main figures, like Omar and Khalid, which we're talking about. All the sources I've come across state the exact opposite.
In fact, we still have the letter of Omar to the Amsar: " I did not isolate Khaled out of anger or betrayal, but people were fascinated by him, and I wanted them to know that God is the Maker (of victory)." - from The Beginning and the End by Ibn Katheer. Many other sources state that as well.
Khalid was given the title of "the Sword of Allah" by the prophet peace be upon him, and the sword of Allah was not to be broken in battle, so Omar wanted to remind the people that Khalid is only winning because God is giving him victory. And when the wave of fascination calmed down, Omar even nominated Khalid to be the next Khalif!
It is a well-known fact that Omar and Khalid loved each other and anyone who reads a bit of Muslim history will easily come to that conclusion. To state a few examples of what happened between them:
-As said before, Omar nominated Khalid to be the next Khalif, but Khalid died before Omar.
-After isolation, Omar was the one to appoint Khalid as Abu-Obaid's advisor.
-When Khalid was dying, he left his will with Omar, you don't give your will except to your most trusted and loved ones.
-A man came to Kahlid and told him "Fear God! For 'fitan' (temptations, disorder) are upon us" Khalid responded: "And Omar is alive within us? Surely not. They will only be after his death".
-When Khalid died, Omar mourned him and used to pray a lot for him.
Also, the character of Omar is apparent just from the last few minutes of the lecture, as he was taught directly by the prophet peace be upon him, the best example of mankind. We know he's not interested in authority or whatever, he just wants the best to the religion and the people. And he would never hate someone the Prophet loved, like Kahlid.

It is an amazing lecture but here is a correction. Omar RA did not demote Khaled RA because he thought Khalid had political ambitions. Khaled RA never had any political ambitions rather there was a very delicate reason behind his demotion. He was so incredible that people started to believe that as long as there is Khalid RA in field, there is no way they could lose the war. But Omar RA wanted to make a point that victory comes from God not from Khalid RA and as incredible and formidable he is the only reason we emerge victorious is because it is the God who grants us the victory. People and Khalid RA totally understood the point.

    • @saahirkhan7994
      @saahirkhan7994 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +25

This is the romanticized version of events that Muslim scholars grappled with when trying to understand why Umar R.A would make a move like this when Khalid R.A was essentially at the peek of his military career.
This version is problematic for one reason only. If Umar R.A was worried that the people would think this, then you are essentially saying that sahabah ikraam R.A would have defected in their belief in Tauheed. This is highly unlikely given their proximity to the prophet s.a.w. and his message. We also know from hadith that they were the best of generations - so it simply doesn't make sense.
What does make sense however is the following:
Umar R.A was blessed with faraasah. An intuition inspired by Allah which we know from hadith. We also know in the modern day, that leaders of armies become statesman (Sisi in Egypt) or defacto leaders by backing politicians (Pakistan being prime example). Sudan also has recent conflict due to army generals fighting for power. This has been the case throughout history.
Umar R.A and the sahabah knew from the prophet s.a.w that a fitnah would engulf the ummah in the years to come. Many narrations speak about this.
It makes the most sense that Umar R.A had the intuition to think that Khalid R.A might develop political ambitions later on (as part of the fitnah that was coming) or be forced into taking a side in the fitnah if it were to come sooner rather than later. He demoted him and stripped him off his power thereby safe guarding Khalid's legacy as the greatest of all time and keeping him from being involved in it.
And this is the greatness of Sayidunah Umar and his foresight - He made bold decisions in the interests of the ummah and his khilaafah bears testimony to his greatness as a leader.

There is a wonderful book called the sword of Allah by Abdul Basit Ahmad - I read it around 17 years ago and fell so in love with the character of Khalid that I said I would name one of my sons after him..... Today my son Khalid is 8.
The points above however are just my opinion from piecing together the different narrations we have from that time. We know a lot about the character of Umar R.A and his intuition. Reconciling the "official reason" he demoted Khalid R.A with his intuition simply doesn't add up for the reason I pointed out above.
As these are not matters of fiqh or islamic jurisprudence, I believe the story is open to interpretation and critical analysis from a layman (which is what I am) and I believe that Umar R.A, by virtue of his divinely inspired intuition, knew that the fitnah was coming and any side that Khalid would have been on would have tipped the scales and exacerbated the problem.

Sorry if there are repetitions with other comments.
Minor correction: Umar Ibn Khattab (R) didn't demote Khalid because he worried he would become popular and lead to a political coup. But because of the teaching of Islam (or Aqedah): he didn't want people to see him as the winning factor for Muslims. He wants people to see Allah as the one who granted win or lose, live or die. The Caliph wants to protect Muslim Aqedah, that The Greatest is Allah, not Khalid.
If we learn about Khalid's biography, we'll know that he was very sincere from the beginning of his conversion to Islam. As a sincere Muslim, he wouldn't do a political coup.
Secondly, the wisdom behind why Khalid didn't die in battle because as soon as he accepted Islam, God, through His messenger's word (prophet Muhammad PBUH), gave him the title "Allah's unsheathed sword." The title is not befitted if God's unsheathed sword is broken in the battles. So the God Himself who sheathed the sword.

Khalid ibn al walid wasn't an infallible saint. Khalid attacked Banu Jadhima and killed their men without any order of the Prophet (s.a.w). Prophet distanced himself and declared himself innocent from the actions of Khalid. Under his command, he wrongly killed men of Malik ibn nuwayrah and married his wife on the same day itself. This action even made Umar angry and called for his punishment but was pardoned by the first Caliph Abu Bakr.

An important correction: Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) had never tried to reunite the Christians and the Jews then he realized that he created a third Abrahamic religion. In fact, Islam is built on believing that all the prophets' religions, including Christianity and Judaism, were of one authentic dogma that believed in monotheism; however, these religions' followers went astray from the correct doctrine. Hence, Islam came to rectify their wrong beliefs, spread monotheism, and lay the law of (Shari'aa) as a final religion that shall be followed henceforth.

@@birthofpresence1 I mean you can easily assume and falsely attribute the decline of Muslim civilization to Islam itself, but that's far from truth to be honest. Islam itself commands muslims to explore and research the world in order to acknowledge the wisdom of God and be more knowledgeable. The golden age of Islam had scholars, astronomers, doctors, etc whom were all strong religious believers in Islam.
As for the Ghazali claim, that's complete bs. Al-Ghazali never said something like that and I'm sorry to break it to you, but whatever you've been spoon-fed from neil degrasse tyson's lectures or whatever is complete nonsense. Al-Ghazali himself said: “ignorant people come out and claim that math must be wrong, because non-Muslims developed it - and that does a disservice to the truth of mathematics and to the stance of religion on truth".
And even if he said that, I doubt just one quote made by a great scholar would simply cause an overall decline in scientific research and contribution by Muslims. Doesnt make sense to me man.

Umar bin Khattab RA did not hate Khalid bin Walid. He was the caliph and his decisions were not based on his personal likes and dislikes. He made decisions that could best serve Allah and His prophet Muhammad PBUH and for the welfare of his people. His decisions were not based on personal preferences or malice. Of course, he was a human being just like all the sahabas despite their high stature but his intentions were pure in his service to Allah and His prophet Muhammad PBUH.

Several mistakes in this lecture :
1- kalif at that period ruled from Madina not Macca
2- the second kalif Omar never hated Khaled but he was afraid that people will think Muslims are victorious because of him whilst the victory is from God.
3- Abu Ubaida the person who replaced Khaled he is one of the very few companion of profit Mohammad who were with him from the very early days of Islam 15 years before Khaled enters Islam.

You should focus on what he has unveiled for the young American students who are only aware of their lore and sagas from whatever history they are being taught and through hollywood/media.
Little mistakes can be corrected once you're introduced to a history which you couldn't imagine existed.

AMIR UL MOOMINEEN Hazrat Umar Bin Khatab, Al Farooq ( R.A.) removed Hazrat Khalid Bin Waleed (R.A) not mainly because of the reason you mentioned, but because of not following the law and order of The Jammat(the whole cabinet, and its leader Hazrat Umar Bin Khatab [R.A]) given at those circumstances. And, Hazrat Khalid Bin Waleed didn't follow the order because of his own egoistic reasons, but, infact, because of his gut feeling and bravery that he can attain victory at that specific time and space against the enemy of humanity.
Mostly, the decision was taken to let the multitude of Islam acknowledge that there is no compromise on maintaining the discipline of Allah and on maintaining the discipline of Jammat(cabinet) of Allah.

And, there is no doubt that Islam rejects the notion of heroism only. Ofcourse, everyone does their deeds for themselves, and the qualities will always be appreciated and highlighted. However, the extremism of heroism has always been denied.

Seats are not filled because Khalid existence can't be verified historically, some historians even says he is just 3 different people from different years joined together into one persona and that's how myths are born. For sure sources from Ibn Ishak did not survive. There are few verses in Bible and in Quran. Nothing from west side, and not much from east - the records and existence were made really late and most were consumed by fire. Most what is left was communicated orally.

Why should God let you into Heaven?
Have you lied (even once in your entire life), looked with lust at the opposite sex, dishonoured parents, stolen anything, had hatred towards someone, had premarital sex, adultery etc If you answered yes to any one of the above then you are a sinner like the rest of us.
