Fact that Saladin Grew into Caiatl's ranks and soon became Valus Forge (Third highest rank in the Cabal military hierarchy) in such a short time too now having his own Cabal Faction known as the Iron War Beasts. Even now he broadcasts the Iron Banner matches to Cabal Flag ships as entertainment. Also next season is one of the best seasons in my opinion
42:17 Yeah, Saladin lived through the Dark Age. A time before civilization was rebuilt, where "Guardians" lived like Nomads, dying of starvation just to be revived right back to the tearing pain of an empty stomach. If you remember Rise of Iron, Saladin and his Iron Lords were promised a way to rebuild humanity. Instead, the Warmind Rasputin lured the Iron Lords into a trap, and Saladin was forced to listen to the dying cries and screams of the only family he ever had. So I thinks its safe to say that Saladin is allowed to be a little grumpy every once in awhile. PS: 59:15 Saladin means this literally, he met an Ahamkara, a being that can make your dreams reality (basically a genie). Out of everything Saladin could have wished for, he simply wished to fight a fire breathing dragon straight out of a fantasy book.
The mission that was repeated a lot was the exotic mission. The exotic weapon that you get from the mission can have 3-4 perk selections and each week a new perk selection is available from the mission so they add new diolouge to give you a reason to replay the mission other than the extra perks.
"Mercy to an enemy cannot come at the cost of mercy for their victims" is one of my favorite quotes to come out of Destiny. Also, that one was my second favorite of the black-and-white cutscenes, just barely behind the one from Misraaks about Saint-14. Glad you guys liked this season!

Caiatl is such a great character. A valiant warrior, a tempered diplomat, and a genius scholar. She is the pinnacle of what it means to be a leader and a damn good one that. Saladin was great in this season and redeemed him from being the warmonger I found him to be in Chosen. Once he found the common feelings shared between him and the Cabal he realized they werent so different. Valor in battle, respect for a great leader. Its how Saladin feels toward Zavala and the Vanguard. Its how the Psion interrogator felt about Caiatl. Saladin felt that when he used telepathy to communicate. I dont think they showed it but next to the comms relay, is Saladin's gift to Crow: an Iron Axe. Saladin's Iron Axe, and his wolf medallion. Saladin also wasnt joking when he said he fought a dragon. He wished to an Ahamkara to fight a dragon and so it took the form of a traditional fire breathing dragon so they could fight. The moment Crow unplugged the Psion from the machine is detailed in a lore book, which i think we should have seen in a cutscene instead.
The amulet doesn’t control wolves, it was Saladin basically promising to protect her. A promise that he didn’t seem to uphold. So yea Bethany’s idea was pretty much correct

The use of the wolves in Saladin's story I always interpreted as more metaphorical. There's nothing about the medallion that gives her control over actual wolves. The wolves shown were analogous to her men attacking the village. Saladin and his Iron Banner are always associated with Wolves and it's an engrained symbol of the Iron Lords, as a result, it's more like another lens through which you can view how she twisted his decision to give her a second chance. By using his act of mercy as an enabler for more wrongdoing, she's weaponizing the "wolves", essentially, using them for aggression rather than viewing his act as a glimpse into a different, more positive life she could lead. It's possible it was an offer of protection under the iron Lords as well, that bit is just speculation on my end though. Also, it wasn't shown in the video but the "gift" Saladin gives Crow was his axe and the medallion shown in the cutscene, figuring Crow would understand the meaning behind his story.
38:25 Unfortunately no, we dont get Zavala's backstory. That's what next season will be about. Honestly, it's one of the best seasonal stories because we delve into multiple characters' personal feelings and backstories within that. Can't wait for you guys to get there
Great season for Crow and Saladin, the expansions launch with a relatively smaller scope season so you would have been playing this ALONGSIDE the Witch Queen and the events are somewhat concurrent with each other, like fighting off the Lucent Hive on Mars with Crow, Saladin, Zavala and Caiatl while also diving deeper into the Throne World with Ikora, Eris Morn and Finch. It's an expansion/Season structure that Bungie runs with from here on and it works, just gotta keep in mid that the expansion and follow-up season to that expansion typically run concurrently, well except Final Shape's first season which are now called "episodes", but that's a ways off and I can't wait...
Rewatching this with you guys has been cool, the Sun Tzu line alone isn't nice reminder that Caiatl is a scholar just as much as she is a figurehead and warrior. Also that iron banner linevwasnt for nothing, it introduced a new mode involving cabal turrets and soldiers blocking a high value deposit zone

Heavily militaristic and they blow up planets just for getting in their way. I'm an absolute wh#re for their over the top Space-Roman Rihno propaganda. :D
What makes what Crow did worse is in one of the lore books it describe what happened in detail and the Psion died an extremely excruciating death while begging Crow to stop which he couldn’t hear or understand (can’t remember which). Then to top it of Crow asked if he wanted to go get ramen before realizing he killed the Psion. Yeah this for a while made me dislike him heavily.
In all seriousness. Yeah Seasonal content and as of today will always have repetitive gameplay but developing background story. It's a overal dubious decision by bungie for the community. Basically an excuse for grinding your ingame gear(please to don't take it out of context).

All of the budget goes into the big release so the following Season is just really underwhelming, unfortunately. Risen was alright imo tho. Cool backstory for Saladin and good character development for Crow. Also when Caiatl said that the defectors were “not her people” she technically wasn’t lying. Psions aren’t actually Cabal. Their species was conquered by them and they’ve been under Cabal control ever since.
Personally, Risen has been the only good expansion season I've played. I never went through Black Armory or whatever Shadowkeep had; I lost interest in Hunt the first week or so, and came back in Chosen; Defiance was a waste of writing; Echoes has crashed at the end of the runway.
