I never quite realized what a mad man Joe Perry is until watching this tribute. His solos are insane, and incredibly difficult. He doesn't get enough credit when talking about rock guitar greats.
I feel the same he’s a monster when it comes to writing riffs and bluesy tunes. He has something in his playing that is not very common. I can never get enough of his solos. Be it the tones or the notes.
@@AndrewWLugoYears of experience here i can play Mick Thompsons solos,Frusciante,Slash, Zappa etc… Trust me Joe’s Phrasing is weird as fuck in a good way, he has really unexpected timing and note choices. To me he is one of the most confusing guitar players to study. The way he plays is more like a horn player rather than a guitar player. Technically not so confusing but the phrasing choices are weird.
@alpozturk5479 YES,...He is a very unusual player. He has always had moments here and there in his playing that I thought were absolutely great, but overall,.he isn't my cup of tea as a lead player. But as a guitarist and musician,..I still think his music, when you look at riffs and the entire scope of playing, along with fellow-guitarist Brad Whitford was very good and left a very important mark on the history of Rock music.
Watching this man also makes me realize how little I know about playing guitar. He's replicated every little nuance that makes their playing (and any of the additional session musicians used) god-like.
This is so good. Joe is literally the reason I picked up a guitar in the first place. His playing and phrasing is like no one else!! As others have stated, he has a very unique, sleazy sound that is very VERY hard to perfectly replicate!! You did Mr. Perry justice with this video!
This gave me a new-found respect for Mr. Perry. Super tasteful riffs with great melodies. Joe himself would surely be impressed with this tribute. You seem to inject the same passion and feel into these riffs. I thouroughly enjoyed watching/listening to this. Thanks for sharing.
15 minutes of pure enjoyment! Thank you so much for posting this and showing the world your talents. Joe Perry had such a unique style and tone and you've emulated it perfectly!
No one talks about the fact he is a natural left handed player. Playing right handed that’s why his sound Is so unique. He’s a hall of fame guitarist and has touched millions with his sound.
Joe Perry’s playing was never the most technical or the prettiest. That was usually where Brad Whitford came in. Joe’s guitar playing was pure energy. It was raw and emotional and he did it almost effortlessly. And it always served whatever song he was playing instead of serving his own ego like some other players might do. That’s what always made him so exciting to listen to.
Dude, incredible job you’ve done. Thanks for giving Joe justice as one of the most incredible players ever! Much harder to play than technical stuff in many ways.
Fantastic playing of these - like many or most others Joe isn’t a “flash” guitarist and the recorded solos were put together in the studio from several selected takes. In “Produce Like a Pro”, Jack Douglas mentions the effort in constructing Joe’s long solos on the Toys Album out of dozens of short bits.
An excellent overview of so many Perry highlights. Those solos on the later, more commercial Aerosmith tracks was really eye opening. Joe plays for the song and gives it just what it needs. One of the finest. And Brad Whitfield is no slouch either.
Whereas a lot of players stick with their main guitar of choice, I like the fact Joe mixes things up with the Les Paul and the Strat. He’s not really a fast legato type player, but really digs in hard and picks most of the notes. I guess there’s similarities with Richie Sambora in that sense but the phrasing is so different. Great playing here, you absolutely nailed it and the tones too.
Great tribute and playing!! Joe Perry is my favorite guitarist since I was 12 (36 now). It is really hard to play like him you did great! It would be nice to see a tribute for Brad Whitford or some deep cut gems from them!

@@nachodedoslargos No problem, man. Mr. Whitford has some pretty tasty solos as well, like "Last Child", "Round and Round" "Voodoo Medicine Man" "Kings and Queens" and some others, but I get your point. Keep on rockin'! Once again, great job! ✌

Hard to pick a favourite from this lot - they’re all brilliant. Another Perry solo I love is from Alice Cooper’s House Of Fire. It’s only a short solo but packs a punch!

Perry's solos are so weird and out of the box, yet they are masterpieces!! Really hard to play it right, great job.
That's why I love the combination of Perry + Whitford

Doesn't sound like any or everyone else that plays guitar....That's amazingly difficult.....
I would say that a word bravo, you understand everything about Joe Perry, I'm a fan for over 40 years and your work is magnificent... 👏👏👏👏👏👌👍

Joe Perry is so underrated, he’s one of my favorite guitar players of all time
At times I find replicating some of Joe's phrasing more baffling than complex Vai/Satriani arrangements. Well done.

underrated ? I would say so, great riffs and solos yet seems overlooked, especially here in UK
And don’t forget Joe’s always very researched sound. So deeply chosen and unique.

Great job on this, your playing is amazing and you really show how good Joe Perry is at crafting a solo. Also, nice strat tones!
