Radiomaster are a fantastic company and are trying to resolve this as soon as possible. You should leave it up. Anyone who bought them at launch is susceptible to damaging their controller, which RadioMaster isnt going to cover...i'd be pissed if i burned my $200 radio because of their defective module. Thank you for the warning, please keep it posted. Also, i wonder if there is any kind of marking to denote the new version.

This is what it says on every single product after they fixed it: *"Update: Updated to the V1.6 PCB which is fully functional and at no risk of XT30 issues."* - I believe this should be noted somewhere.

2:35... What would be a mod someone could do on the PCB to fix the XT30 issue Ian. Cutting a Track and soldering a Diode in place seems like a simple fix. It's great that RadioMaster is owning it a stepping up to make it right.👍
I had my TX16S damaged due that flaw on the Ranger Micro module. I plugged a 4s battery on the XT30 connector and the main board of my TX16S got damaged. Maybe I was one of the first because I contacted Radiomaster and they said have never heard about such failure. They asked to update fw and I decide to open the radio and found a small inductor burned. They said they will send me a new main board for the TX16S and a new revised PCB for the Ranger Micro. Let´s see...they are coming back from chinese new year holiday! I liked their position to assume the failure and offer after market assistance. That is positive.
Yes, but forget the seller at Aliexpress. They refused to send any pcb/module, so I could only get it going directly to Radiomaster. The new module is ok. Before test it I measured if the xt30 terminals were shorted with the +/- of the JR bay, they are not, so there is a diode put there. We are all safe now.
hi, after setting up my tx16s mk2 with the replacement board for the ranger micro & trying to set tx power to 250mW it won't go higher than 100mW, can you explain why please.
If I see a video in my feed from you with the word DON'T I always have to watch cause things are getting serious in these cases even though I did not know what a PSA was till I watched your video, but hat thought what might have been meant with external power. Sometimes I feel it is time again for DON'T cause if you say don't you really mean DON'T and a lot of people then appear to mostly disagree and some that agree - or it is a simple kind of invitation for the next live stream to get the right amount of attention when those attend that did not agree. Great stuff again - even though we have gotten now really stronger winter, below 0 temperatures and constant cloudy days without much sun if any. Of cause no flight conditions, just more or less bench time to play around and gain progress while fighting the risks and struggling. Luckily from today on with the ViFly Power Saver kits ordered back in april 2022 which had been lost during shipping and had to be reshipped. Should arrive this evening - and meanwhile I have also upgraded to get 3 of them to always have one if needed.
Public Service Anouncements = PSA and I had thought "Power surge whatever" , but the external power had warned me that this should be a serious topic for me due to the DON'T you only use if things are getting really serious. Luckily I am the onboard guy and hate to seee zippers that are connected / attached to the remote as power supply. Mine are ordered and maybe even on the way but I do not care cause I guess Radiomaster will find such a fix soon and till then I will need to wait for the right weather and even then I would go for the internal power as usual.
I set mine up on my Flysky Nirvana and flew 4 packs. I powered it by a 2s externally. I got lucky I guess. I have to use external power for the Nirvana though.
When you make things there is always the possibility of mistakes and this was one of them. However Radiomaster have held their hands up and are replacing the bad modules. That’s the mark of a good company imo.
Has this issue been corrected? I cannot find mention of it on Radiomaster’s website. I just bought one today and want to know if it is an affected model. I haven’t opened it yet. 😅
But that pin is 2s voltage on my radio already. I would only need to worry about handset voltage vs external pack voltage levels. Right? I don't even have these just curious.
So it never happened in their testing? I never use external. Only one I would use on is on my t-lite but that nano happymodel doesn't have external battery xt30 Good on them replaces. I love companies that do that. I've had companies not replace like dji mini 1 issue dji only offered discount on mini 2 or se that hitting market.
There's too much competition for them to not. FrSky is coming back at them hard and tbth after using ETHOS I'm not sure who would want a $250 TX16S over a $265 X18. Its 5x more radio. The Boxer and Zorro are fantastic and the price is awesome. Those and ELRS hardware are going to be what keep them going unless they have a world beating full size TX in the pipeline we don't know about.
Well here is my experience. I placed an order with RM" My first order. AFTER placing the order I received a 5% discount code email, when I tried to apply the code I could not do it, After contacting RM cust support they said there is no way to use the 'first purchase' discount code after the first purchase has been ordered... This sounds like false representation to me. The cust service rep actually said "we really did not charge you much for that (700$) purchase" ... I paid full price for everything! My CC was charges over 1 month before shipping, effectively leaving me with no recourse if RM would not ship. Finally the box arrived... I live is a large apartment building, the box was left outside of the front door... of the building not of my unit. Pure luck it did not get stolen. Now the Ranger Micro does not work, DOA, I connected it to my PC to flash it, it failed. I installed it on my TX16 it did not even lit-up. What do you think I should think of THAT experience??? Do I want a "replacement board"? (whatever that is?) no I want what I paid for!!! Now 5 weeks ago! Sorry. I feel like throwing the whole in the bin and call it a loss.
Annoying... I returned my other modules when I got my Ranger. I have the Zorro which already has a crappy power source. Trip in 2 weeks....🙄 Thanks Mads.
Yes, elementary mistake, reviewers should have checked voltage on the bay supply pin with the external socket powered. So many comments here about how wonderful Radiomaster are, not so sure myself 😐other factors in play here I think 😒
How far do you expect us to go on a review ? check every regulator onboard for correct voltage, looks for transients, check that the module UART levels are correct and make sure it’s not got any design issues that no one had even thought could happen yet. ? It’s an error we have not seen in a long time, it’s one of those things that happens. This is a small error in the net naming most likely that resulted in the diode being moved. It’s actually there just the wrong side. If you make hardware then there will be mistakes, it’s inevitable. If your implying for one moment people give Radiomaster a free pass that’s nonsense. This video to prove that’s not the case.

@@stevietee10 They've done a lot of sketch stuff that's gotten glossed over because "omg open source so great" and yeah it is... but they(and jumper) were never the only option and tbth a lot of their success was influencers promoting the heck out of them IMO.

You can plug a 2s that's plugged into the radio and can plug the xt30 into the module

Thank you so much for this release. I was going to swap out my existing ELRS module for the RadioMaster version.
I would just wait a few weeks and then anyone you buy should be fine. It’s a great module and once this is sorted it should be fine.

Basically yes it just needs a diode between the xt30 and the bay pin.

It’s complicated. Technically yes it may be fine however there could be some unexpected issues when you power the radio down ect.
The power pack I used to use for Crossfire 2Watt, was 3S, could handle up to 15v, which would fry a JR bay if the module isnt isolating them

Imo, slight fuck up by radiomaster, but I highly aprieciate that they try to do something about it in contrary to many chinese manufacturers.

Yea it will happen. Some radios can’t provide enough power.
Be careful, overdrawing on the power pin can burn your pin in your bay, if it's not specced to deliver the current.

Thats a pretty basic mistake. The R9M had the same problem. Huge hit to their reputation.

Technically 2S will be fine as that’s what the bay will provide but it’s a risk with no back protection in place.
