  • 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited with A/C climate issues on driver side. The technician gave me an estimate price of $600 to fix the problem. Well, you can fix it by yourself for just about $50. The part numbers involved are two:A/C Heater Blend Door Actuator - Dorman (604-307) and A/C Heater Blend Door Actuator - Dorman (604-308). The first (ending in 307) is only the electronic box, the one that usually fails preventing the blue part to rotate. The second (ending in 308) includes the mechanical part that moves the leverage of the door and they are screwed together. Also check this website for more info about the two part numbers: www.autozone.com/1/categories/....
    When you install the new actuator make sure that the end of the door's leverage falls in the track of the blue rotating part of the actuator. To make this happen you can help yourself rotating the temperature control knob until the leverage falls in the blue track.
    I hope this helped you to save some money and also to have some kind of fun fixing your car.

    Thanks for the Video and instructions. I took my SF into the dealer for a recall and when we picked up the SF the drivers side AC control no longer worked and the dealer here in Albuquerque wanted to charge me over $600 to troubleshoot and repair the issue. A 5 min google search lead me to Your video and $40 plus 3 damn screws.. issue resolved. Thanks for the great Video and help sir.

    I have a 2006 Azera (shares a lot of parts with the Santa Fe including these actuators) with the same issue and already ordered the part but came to see your video before going to my mechanic. This is the 5 minute fix, though it took me 20 minutes. I had to do it twice because something wasn't lined up the first time. When I took it apart again the actuator was moving as I adjusted the temperature and moving the post that connects behind the actuator with my finger also adjusted the air temp coming through the vents, so I moved the controls and the door to max cold and put it together again. Now things are working as they should! Doing it myself saved me an hour+ and $30 my mechanic would have charged me for his time.

      +Foz Zy I am happy to hear that my video helped you and thank you for your feedback. Usually people get the tip but don't leave any comment or feedback. There are many actuators involved in the system. Some are also accessible from the passenger side behind the glove compartment. If I am not wrong, my memory says that the one you are talking about should control the outside fresh air flow. You can find it out playing with the control panel. It should act when you switch from outside flow to internal recycle (max A/C). If you are able to read the part number, just google it and you should get the description of its function in the A/C system.

    I have an 08 santa fe and my issue is that the mode select button (to select between floor vents, upper vents,defrost) doesn't change anything. does the actuator control the mode as well?

    • @adrianovaleri237
      @adrianovaleri237 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The mode select button controls the exits of the vents and it gives inputs to another actuator that open or closes the vents. I don't know where this actuator is located but you can find it out because it should be in the center of the column next to the air flow control panel.

    Thanks Adriano for your video, it's very helpful. I have 2009 SF and it has exactly same problem, a little difference is that blows hot air in passenger side too, because I live in Tierra del Fuego (Argentina) and now here is winter.
    My problem is the part isn't in Hyundai Argentina, so, I have to wait around 60 days to receive it and pay u$s 150 only for the part, I don't know how much will be the labor . . . .
    So, I will buy by Amazon Prime for u$s 32 and change it myself. If you want, I could make the video changing it.
    Thank you again.

      Sorry for the late response. You might have both the actuator broken: the one that controls the left side and the one that controls the right side). The one I showed in the video controls the left side (driver side). Replacing it you may fix the problem only on the left side. It would be interesting to see the video.

      I am afraid your car has a different problem. Replacing the part I showed in the video only fix the problem when you can't control the temperature on the driver side rotating the knob. The screen not working is related to a different issue. I am sorry but I can't help you.

    I have the same problem on my 2011, but it is NOT a duel control system, there is no actuator on the drivers side. The heater works on both sides, but the A/C only blows cold air on passenger side. I get good air flow, but no cold air? I've checked the temp/blend control for the passenger side and it works fine. what would I be looking for to see if it is broken...and I do not have aa digital reading. it's a knob that has,,,,if you turn it to the right it should hot and if you turn it to the left it should come out cool. I just get hot air.

    • @adrianovaleri237
      @adrianovaleri237 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Does your car have two knobs (like the one in the video) to control the temperature on each side: one for the driver side and one for the passenger side? If you have two knobs, you also have two actuators. The one on the video controls the temperature settings only on the driver side.
      If you have two knobs and you get hot air on both sides: passenger and driver, you might have both the actuators broken but I doubt that they both broke at the same time, even if it is still possible. Did you check the fuses of the A/C system?
      If you want to check the actuator and see if it works or not, you do not need any digital multimeter. Just unscrew the actuator, leave it connected to the wire. With the engine running (or just the key on the ignition position), rotate the driver climate control knob left and right. The blue part of the actuator should move left or right when you rotate the knob. If it doesn't move it means that it is broken and needs to be replaced. Replacing this actuator only fixes the problem on the driver side because as said, the passenger side has another actuator elsewhere and you need to find its position on the ventilation system (To see the blue part I am talking about check this website: www.dormanproducts.com/itemdetail.aspx?ProductID=51698&SEName=604-308)
      If the blue part moves, it means that it is working and you need to find the failure elsewhere. There are several actuators in the system, also on the passenger side behind the glove compartment. You can perform the same procedure and see if the blue part moves in all the actuators. Every actuator responds to the input of a knob or of a button present in the control panel. Make sure that when you check the actuator you give inputs trying all the control knobs and buttons of the A/C system panel until you find the faulty one, the one that doesn't respond to the input of knobs or buttons. If they all work, the problem is elsewhere. Also make sure that all fuses are good and that the A/C compressor installed on the engine engages when you turn on the A/C.

    • @Brisco1305

      +Michael Nenezich Unfortunately there are a few and each one controls something. I have never experienced the problem on the passenger side so I can't really help you with an accurate description, but I suggest you to remove the glove compartment and get access to the actuators on the passenger side (there are some videos about how to remove the glove compartment). Remove/unscrew the actuators one by one and manually (with your fingers) move the leverage that should be moved by the actuator and when you see that the temperature changes moving it manually, you found the faulty actuator. Read the part number written on it and order a new one on ebay for cheap. Oh! Since you removed the glove compartment, also change the A/C cabin filter :) Let me know if I was able to help you.

    I have an 08 SF but my problem is it only blows out hot air, It sounds like this part is to fix getting hot air, my issue is no cold air . Will this fix mt problem ?

    • @adrianovaleri237
      @adrianovaleri237 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure if I well understood your question but changing this actuator will fix problems where you can't change the temperature on the driver side. Even if the number of degrees goes up or down, you will not see changes form the output ventilation. If the actuator breaks while the door is open, you will only get hot air. If it breaks with the door closed you will get cold air. When it breaks you will get the temperature of its last position.

    • @richmcglynn4620
      @richmcglynn4620 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Adriano Valeri that is exactly what happened, like it's stuck on its last position I had it at in the winter. I just read my question back and I apologize. I don't know how you even guessed my question. No matter where I have my knob setting which is not a dual one, it comes out hot air, the service station wants to check for leaks in the AC, kept telling them it comes out hot air even when there is no AC on, it's the knob climate controll that's not responding that's why I think it's the actuator, I didn't know there was two of them, hot air blows out of all vents

    • @adrianovaleri237
      @adrianovaleri237 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      What I can tell you for sure is that the actuator I am talking about only serves the driver side when you turn the climate control knob of the driver side to change/set the temperature on the driver side. On the display you see the numbers go up or down but there is no real change on the output ventilation. When this actuator brakes, the passenger side should still work. There are several actuator in the system. If you want to make sure which is not working you can unscrew them and see which one is not responding to the input of the knob and replace it.

    • @adrianovaleri4869
      @adrianovaleri4869 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you sure you installed it correctly? Did you make sure the leverages were playing free and went in the tracks of the actuator when you installed it? Try to remove it but leave the wires connected and play with the knob. If the inside of the actuator moves, it is a problem of installation or the leverages are stuck and need to be freed. If it doesn't move there are two possible problems. The first possible problem is that there is no continuity in the wire and you need to find out why, maybe a blown fuse or a open circuit. If there is continuity in the wire but it doesn't move, it could be a problem with the connection or it is a faulty actuator. Other than that.... I don't know.
