I'm trying to nickel plate aluminium and to do it i need first to copper plate it, or the nickel chloride solution that i use starts to react with alu instantly. The question is, how can i make a thick copper plating that doesn't peel off after a simple paper towel pass on it? I tried as you did to clean it with sodium ipochlorate solution then rinsed in water and anodyzed in solfuric acid diluted solution and then back into water and finally into copper plating solution made of copper sulfate water and sulfuric acid, using pure copper as anode. Any tips to build up some copper that sticks on alu properly? Ty in advance for your response😄

What would happen, if you skip the light blue solution and use the copper plating solution only (after zinkate dipping)? Please let me know? Cheers
it will still plate but the adhesion will be very bad

sodium molybdate is your magic ingredient. Play around with 0.1 molar solution mixed 50/50 with 5% acetic acid (or even vinegar) ;)

yes you can plate nickel after plating the copper or directly on to aluminium
Golden Solution hi i have problem with plating copper on aluminum. I use the battery acid mixed with water solution, is this correct? Or shall i use vinegar? Seems like copper transfer onto aluminum but then the copper wipes right off aluminum, this is problem i am having. Thanks

What if you use 12 volts?
As it is tank plating you work with amps if you plate this item with 12 volt it will probably plate very dull and dark thanks

I have a question for you if you don’t mind:
How do I know if the copper I plated onto the aluminum will peeled off or not? I just want to know if my zincate layer went good or not. Let me guess, after conpletion and polished, if copper still sticks then it’s good?

This would make for excellent CPU coolers by utilizing the thermal conductivity of copper with the thermal decipation properties of aluminium!
