The security officer's job is to ensure that everyone is following the rules and regulations, to ensure everyone's safety. Beckham's actions tell the younger men in that locker room that's it's alright to disrespect the person whose job it is to make sure everyone is safe, to disrespect "authority figures". Just as you shouldn't put your hands on a woman, you shouldn't put your hands on someone without their permission. Beckham didn't have permission.
