Everyone knows top players are getting payed just look at the brand new cars they drive around in, but LSU has had a hospital funneling money to players and now an alumni on the field of the national championship celebration handing out money to the players. Bottom line is don't get caught and don't make it so much that it's a competitive advantage. Also it is tax fraud if the depending on the amount.

So the NCAA is too strict on things like that. No doubt! My issue is that everyone knows that would cause issues yet Odell did it anyway. The man cannot stand for a second to not be the center of attention so he had to do something to steal a little lime light. Being from South Africa these rules really piss me off. Because here players can literally start playing professional sports while they are in College and it just creates so many more opportunities for players. Most of these College kids will never make it to the NFL, allow them to make some money while they can
They are literally receiving a free education that costs at least a hundred thousand dollars and in most cases far more. It will then in turn lead them to make far more money than a non college graduate. All for playing a game.

Has anyone ever wonder if the nfl stepped up and dropped the requirement of a mandatory 3 years in college to enter, if it would hurt the NCAAF brand to the point they would have to consider paying students to remain in school.
Most players need college to build up size. But there a few who arguably didn’t. it’s not a reach to say if those people skipped college it wouldn’t hurt the NCAA bottom. Just an idea.
Everyone knows the pay rule is awful. But there could also be heavy back lash from the players before who were who were caught and punished for stuff that would turn into common practice if they dropped the rule.
