Beautifully performed! This cadenza was masterfully performed (typically I don't focus on piano concerto cadenzas, but this one is special, given it is left hand only). At 17:15, I think the right hand was getting jealous of the left hand!

This is the best rendering of this concert I have ever heard. What an amazing piano performance. By the way, youtube should be brought to justice before the criminal court in The Hague for the two advertising interruptions I had to endure while listening to this masterpiece.

The astonishing combination of phenomenal power and crystal clarity in this horribly congested piano part is incomparable. And all without any histrionics - all the drama is in the music!

Ravel shines through, no matter what medium, no matter the limitations. Brilliant! Thank you for making this available to the world!

The orchestration is so raw and agressive. Ravel did brings the craziness and wilderness of a war into the orchestration. A genius. Mahler never could.

The start of the piano piece always sends chills dowm my spine and my ears feel blessed to hear it, and then the rest of the piece too , the way it changes feeling as it goes on, I could speak about the piano forever,
The background of this if you may know, gives this piece so much power, I hope anyone hearing this feels like they can do anything
I heard this on the tv show Mash where the concert pianist wounded his right hand, so Charles gives him this piece so he'll keep playing music.

I’ll tell you a secret right now : the fact that ravel wasn’t so good at playing piano makes him even more a genius

He WAS a good pianist..but he had physical limitations..some of the cords he could not reach completely because of small hands..

Indeed. I also highly doubt Prokofiev was able to play his fiendishly difficult second concerto (especially the first movement). To think that Ravel, Rachmaninoff, Shostakovich, Gershwin and Prokofiev were all actively composing at a certain point of human history (and Mahler was just a few years off) is mindblowing. Geniuses all around.
