This Concerto is the op. 3 No 10 (for 4 violins) by Antonio Vivaldi. The version reproduced here is a transcription made by J. S. Bach for 4 keyboards. It should be presented as Vivaldi - Bach concerto .

I’ve heard and compared many string and keyboard versions and in my opinion this one is for me the very best version of Vivaldi’s masterpiece. By now i’ve listened to it over 100 times. It is wonderful for doing morning stretches, pushups, and dancing with 10 pound weights in each hand when one is 85 years old. Try it, you won’t be able to keep yourself still. It is, literally, very moving music!

Arrangement by Johann Sebastian Bach for 4 solo harpsichords (and later for 4 solo pianos) and string orchestra in A minor of this concerto by Antonio Vivaldi originally composed in B minor for 4 solo violins and string orchestra.
I would also love to hear this with harpsichords, although piano is my favourite instrument ever.

Such amazing talent in one room. Bach himself played this, who were his other pianists, it must have been daunting to say the least. He wrote this for himself, of course. Great work. Great performance. Such gifted musicians. All.
The manuscript actually came from Vivaldi, & was probably written for Violin: Bach’s employer was very keen on the Italian style, & gave Bach several pieces for him to orchestrate for the instruments available…Bach saw the future, & it was the Piano (hence the masterwork
- the 48 preludes & fugues, which allowed any keyboard instrument to be tuned & played with equality)
It’s interesting, that for over a century, Vivaldi’s name was expunged from church records (he was an excommunicated priest) & all public works:
It was during the great Bach Revival - headed by Mendelssohn -that music scholars began cataloguing Bach’s vast musical output:among the manuscripts were some pieces signed A Vivaldi - thus, the hunt was on for this mysterious - & obviously gifted person: once again, the sheer volume of work was yet to be discovered - even ‘The Four Seasons’ wasn’t performed until the 20th century - quite a while after the invention of elevators…
Poor Snr Antonio died in poverty after travelling to Vienna to seek out a patron:
Noblemen who were happy to purchase his work during ‘the Grand Tour’, with Venice in its Heyday, now found ‘a Guinea for every piece’ quite beyond their means…
Such was the end for many - it’s hard for us to imagine that the ravishing music of Bach et al went ‘out of fashion’…
Georg Friedrich Handel did alright - but that’s another story…

@@Cristobels-Green-Bootsvery nice of you ; please accept some add-ons 1) Bach was mister nobody during his lifetime , he was the Organist at Weimar 2) Vivaldi was renowned all over Europe and his Music was published by top Netherland printers 3) Bach got a lot of printed Vivaldi's Concerts through his employer Prince Ersnt Saxen and he transcribed/arranged them for other instruments 4) it is well known and documented that Bach on his own 'borrowed' a lot from others Musicians 5) during the so called 'rediscovery' some dishonest biased Musicologists attributed to Bach what were only copies or arrangements not only of Vivaldi's Music but also of other Authors . CONCLUSION : It's time to 'revisit' and 'reconsider' the entire Production of Bach otherwise with the 'ever growing' Musical Education that GREATEST MUSICAL GENIUS will be taunted by an 'ever growing' suspect of plagiarism 😢😢😢
Wow! what a swift, precise performance and such a crisp sound! The pianos almost sounds like harpsicords.
Quite frankly, I like Bach's concertos for harpsichord better when played on pianos, they contrast better to the string instruments.

It is Bach's transcription of Vivaldi's concerto RV580 for 4 violins.. so the music is mostly Vivaldi's.

I always thought the piano interpretation would be muddy, but this one sparkles. Best piano one so far

I don't really know if it's (the other versions I heard) the recording mic making the sound muddy. But as I said, this version sparkles, the best interpretation I discovered so far.
