The fact that they made an entire room to look like Andy’s, get all the toys, have the patience to film and edit all of this, get an actual daycare to let them use it and to match up the audio from the movie perfectly is honestly just awesome. Watching this made me speechless, this honestly just a masterpiece. Well done.

The Wizward They probably won’t. Toy Story at its core is a staple of completely CGI films with the intended audience for children. Making a live action version of this is basically says “hey, we know how this movie was basically a giant game changer for the industry.....but we like money”. Even if Disney really does like money and does the idea, it would wreck their reputation.

I’m 17, going to college next year. I’ve never cried during a movie. But when Andy gave his toys away, even Woody, signifying the end of his childhood… I cried. I want to thank you for making this. I don’t think I would have cried if it weren’t for the real actors as opposed to animation, as a reminder that this does not only happen in movies, but to real people. I love how they managed to get a HUGE amount of the toys from the original movie! The Totoro plushie, the face switching robot thing, (Is that the ACTUAL Lots-O-Hugs / Lotso Bear?), the Fisher Price toys, and just SOOO many more! Nice attention to detail! Such a great recreation! As a stop-motion animator myself, then I can tell the animators are very talented and they are worked extremely hard and long (8 years) on this project. A lot of people talk about how much time and commitment it took, which does need to be mentioned, but remember, not only did this take commitment, but it also took a lot of talent which most people don't have

This is magnificent, captures the exact feel of the original movie, like others have said, when watching this you completely forget you aren’t watching the Pixar animated version. Incredible job, and the creators of this deserve every amount of praise they’ve received.

I am absolutely awestruck. Considering that it takes a team of anywhere from 20 to 100 people and thousands of dollars just to make a short film, I can't express how utterly blown away I am by this project! It is so well done and there is so much attention to detail I'm amazed this wasn't done by Disney/Pixar as a 10 year anniversary homage to the original and instead done by 2 very talented brothers with a lot of dedication and heart.
As other commenters have stated, this either deserves an award for best fan film or a place in the National Film Archives/Library for educational and historical purposes.
Just FYI, these guys got permission from Disney to post this, so they won't be getting striked down any time soon

I have so many questions and so little answers. This deserves so much more recognition that it has wtf. How did they get almost perfect copies of Sunnyside and Andy's room? How did they got their hands on the garbage truck, the permit to film in the kindergarten, etc etc etc. This is a monumental work of art, I love it
Thank you for the kind words! I’ll try to answer briefly. Outside of several actual daycare shots (local place that generously allowed us to film there while during closed hours), the caterpillar & butterfly rooms were recreated in a couple rooms of our family home. Same with Andy’s room. Hours and hours went into doing that. In fact, that probably took longer than it did to shoot some stop motion scenes. One of our high school friends’ uncles had a trash/disposal company, and he had a garbage truck!

Hard to believe that Toy Story 3 is closer to when Toy Story 2 was released than to today!
When TS3 was released, I remember thinking that TS2 came out forever ago. I was only a year old in November 1999, couldn't remember anything from that year (earliest memory is from I think late 2000) and almost 5 years away from starting kindergarten.

The ending made me cry, not because of the story but because this entire remake is the culmination of so much hard work and dedication. I'm so proud of these guys and I don't even know them
the best part about this is that you can see his animation skills slowly improving throughout the movie.

This isn't meant to trash the movie or anything, but from the looks of it, a lot of the props and backgrounds are digitally edited in. It's not a bad thing, it'd be very difficult to just remake everything. But they didn't collect it. The compositing work is excellent though!
Fun fact: They bought all of Ken’s clothing pieces and that must have been expensive.

The nostalgia I got from this genuinely made me cry, what an amazing job.
Me and my daughter just finished watching this. She's 9 years old and has been a fan of stop-motion films, she aspires to learn how to make one too. As I watch her watch this, I know something sparked in her and I thank you and all the people who made this for that. 😄
