I worked with Derek on an episode of Roadworthy Rescues. He is every bit the kind, caring, funny guy off screen as he is on screen. And he is an excellent mechanic! Good taste in music too.

I haven't come across a person yet. My mom walked into my house while I was watching VGG and said she didn't like derek. Then she sat down and 5 minutes later her opinion obviously changed. Who you are truly comes through on camera for better or worse. That's why I love Mat Armstrong so much. He genuinely seems like a great human. He rebuilds crashed cars and he's awesome.
I found Derek way back in the early days. I think he had about 20k subs back then. I've stuck with him cos he is simply the best car guy on TH-cam. He doesn't take himself too serious, he's funny, a decent family man, he's a damn fine mechanic and just properly entertaining. I'm so glad to have found him back in the early days and I love to see him get the sucess he deserves.

I am Canadian, and watched every episode of the Red Green Show. That's the vibe I got from Derek the first time I watched and I haven't stopped watching. Still scouring the TH-cams here to find as much content he's involved with as possible. I can not get enough of VGG!

i love this guy. ....great show. sometimes he hits that perfect line like "the grass isn't going to grow here for a long time" ...."i found this bottle of juice, i don't know what this is, it doesn't smell like antifreeze , i think it's some kind of bug spray"....hinting that he used it in the radiator, with perfect dead pan, looking at the camera . i laughed so hard .... been there, done that, myself! awesome !👍

I ran into Derek when he was at Bradenton last February in an auto parts store parking lot with Jessica and his friends. I couldn’t believe it. I went over to them and said hello and he was very gracious to take a minute to say hello and snap a picture I’m a super Faithful fan and love his whole family. Been in the car business all my life and I learn a lot from watching him do his thing on TH-cam. Thnks for the entertainment. Keep it up.

I’ve had a rough 3 years or so and being able to watch your videos when I was not able to do much physically helped me get through some really bad days. Before I started my channel was still working at Boeing up in Seattle. I was told to pull up TH-cam on a marine question I had and found Stu Dangar's channel actually Steward Allen. I thought the same hey I can do that, and the rest is history. I love doing what I love being retired and sharing that with folks looking for help on their projects. When I found Derek's channel it reminded me on my younger days working on classic cars. Great funny guy and family man.
Remember when I found VGG channel. Watched one video and was like y'all I have to watch more and binged on ever video a guy had out there and been hooked ever since. Thank y'all for all the great content over the years and wishing y'all a blessed day.

when i started watching VGG years ago, i knew id like derek because hes funny and hes from the midwest. The midwest turns out really good people that know how to work hard and are genuine.
I have a buddy who shaves and his face always looks like it’s got the shadow of the beard. He can grow one in like two days. The beard won’t be denied.
I think all our grandpas said that. My grampa's saying was 'Well, I'll be g*d-da**ed', but I'll be dipped was his go to family friendly saying. He was a farmer at heart even as an elderly man. He was working on the green chain of a sawmill at 75 years old, full time. My dad was the sawyer on that sawmill.
I’m a mechanic and love watching VGG ltittle VGG. Anything he is in is very much worth dropping everything for and to peak you have yourself the best spokesperson ever

Exactly. Someone we can root for at a time when so many “name brand” celebrities have let us down either politically or just in general. For me, guys like Derek ARE THE celebrities we need now more than ever. My money goes to people like Derek, Hickok45, and other TH-cam folks or other forms of media that have the same interests as I do. No more laying out my money for idiots that want to rub elbows with shady politicians who sell our country out to wang chung or comrade butthole or whatever

Thanks for another great video DerekI'm 69 years old I was fortunate enough when I was a kid my neighbors are outlaw bikers custom Builders and Painters a lot of metal flake and Candy my dad was also a car painter Gearhead he was in the Flathead hot rods had a moonshine car I thought it was normal to be surrounded by bikes and cars of course I got into it also drag race for 35 years got off the street racing after 10:00 I just got too dangerous have a great day thanks a lot I can't build cars anymore but I can enjoy this

Back in the day I did a search for Vintage Racecars and found Derek when he just bought the vintage modified. I have been enjoying the Humor and information ever since! If Derek were to show up at my place to buy a car, I am pretty sure we would get along very well. Best of Luck and Skill going Forward.

Been along for the ride for a while now to the point I've been re watching older videos and I tell you fella if I were to ever get the chance I'd buy you a cold snack or two. Grew up with my grand PA in the shop he built hot rods and learned alot from him but I've learned even more from you on how to get old rigs back on the road and with the route the world is going with ev being pushed so hard it's more important then ever.. Need to get me something pre smog (I'm in commiefornia unfortunately want out but my wife and kids are making it difficult to do so)

Love my dirt bikes and I've spotted your Austrian ones in the background. Don't forget to take some time for trail riding with the kiddos. Great memories there for me and I've seen 3 generations trail riding together. It's pretty awesome. TN looks like it has some decent trail opportunities.

I have to DITO about everything you said. We didn't have a TV. My babysitter sat me on top of her TV because her rabbit ears did not get reception and she dared me to move during a Beatles concert while she and a room full of girls screamed at the TV for about two hours. I have been turning wrenches since 1968 and still do. I watch all your videos and talk to you in every video. My wife goes, "Is there an echo in here". I say it it the accelerator pump and then you will say it probably is the accelerator pump... LOL

Derek, the one piece of advice I can give as a guy with a large family (9 in all) that means everything to me, family should not be a hobby. The TH-cams can handle you sharing memories with them in the crazies that the YT has for content creators such as yourself. You know, Id love to see you take your boys and fish the pond behind Rusty Acres. I've chased the dream and discovered the dream is investing in MY family.
