- A short clip from the 1962 The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm- "The Singing Bone". This song used to always creep me out as a child, and unfortunately this clip doesnt include the stop-animation skeleton, but you get the idea.
It was with quite a struggle I got just THIS part of the movie. Its incredibly hard to find. Its available on VHS and if you're lucky- you can find a bit torrent for download. Good luck! Thanks for watching. - บันเทิง
Oh my god, I've been looking for this for years!! I remember that song terrified me as a kid, it's pretty darn creepy and I had nightmares for weeks lol. Cheers for uploading, I'd never have found this without your help!
might coming soon restored on bluray - the whole movie.
Ladies and gentlemen, the world's first auto-tune.
I've remembered that skeleton all these years. There were a number of films like this back then, and without being able to go back and look they've gotten a bit mixed up in my mind over the years, so thanks for at least mentioning the damn thing. Clears up a long-standing mystery. : )
O King, pray listen to my tale./ I sleep beneath the tree./ My master Ludwig raised his sword/ And drove it into me./ I'll never walk the earth again/ Or hear a bird or plant a seed/ Till the man who slew me says he's sorry for my deed.
I thought Ludwig was the Grand Duke from Cinderella until I googled it lol. Besides that, this is a sad, creepy, interesting tale and the song is truly haunting.......
OMG! I remember I saw that movie on TV back then in 90's! ! remeber that part very well! How creepy!!! hahaha
"Królu wysłuchaj historii mej, śpię pod tym drzewem. Mój Pan podniósł na mnie miecz i zabił mnie..." jakoś tak to było, też to dobrze pamiętam 😉 właśnie opowiadałem to dziewczynie na dobranoc i postanowiłem poszukać na YT. Zobaczyłem komentarz że widziałeś w latach 90, to od razu stwierdziłem że Polak 😁 pozdrawiam!
Oh king pray listen to my tale
I sleep beneath the tree
My master Ludwig raised his sword
and drove it into me
I'll never walk the earth again
or hear a bird or plant a seed
Until the man who slew me says
He's sorry for the deed.
holy hell, i thought i just imagined all this, but i remember watching this as a kid (90's kid) and i NEVER saw it again after that one time!
I always thought this was the creepiest crap ever when I was a kid!!!! Next to the scene in Darby O'Gill and the Little People when the Banshee appears!
That voice is absolutely haunting. I got a little shiver listening to it
The king be like "I literally called you here to f*** with you lol" I love this movie so much. Such amazing stunts and stop motion and just EVERYTHING. I aged well too. Love it.
I saw this in Cinerama when I was four years old. It made a very big impression thank you for posting
i saw it in the theater when it came out also. i guess i would have been about 8 yrs. old.
Watcch Grimm oooonline hereee => twitter.com/7ac4193387b148918/status/824452759776686080
I LOVED this movie as a child, but the singing bone re-assembling the body really creeped me out.
Ohhh, my gosh! I always daydream about the level of this creepiness. I happened to think of it just now, typed it in, and was totally amazed to find it on the first search! Thanks for this nostalgic and eerie rendezvous. It is just as strange and lovely as I remembered. Much love.
I remember catching this early Xmas eve It was quite chilling and haunting but at least Hans is restored
I saw this in the late 70's when they used to play the old classics on Sunday's. I'd just love to see it again with my daughters. I wonder what their impression would be to know this is the kind of tv I grew up on.
OH MY GOD I FOUND IT. IT TOOK ME 10 YEARS TO FIND IT.
This was on Turner Classic Movies a week or so ago. I hadn't seen it in probably 40 years. This was my favorite segment of the movie as well. Scared the crap out of me then. Thanks for posting this.
Can you imagine if this song was in a music box or in a stuffed animal? 😮
I have a vhs of this movie. One of my favorites growing up.
I loved this when I was younger. But I never knew what the name of it was. Thank-you
This song creeped the hell out of me as a kid. I remembered it all these years!
I watched this in school when I was a kid. Maybe fifth grade? Ever since then I've remembered the story but had no idea what it was called. This is awesome to find. Made my day!
me too! every year or so it would still pop up in my mind, i remember it as a sad but beautiful song, so good to hear it again after all these years!
Thank you so much for this. Got chills listening to it. My dad made a audio cassette of the record and I still have it. Though I'm in my 50's and haven't listened to it for years. Will have to find the movie.
This one haunted me for years.
I saw this in school when I was a child. This was spooky then and still is now. Thanks for posting.
Ohhhhh yessss! This frightened the beans out of me as a kid. Ha ha! The memories of it linger still.
This scene always gave me the creep--especially with the stop motion skeleton. :) This is why I love it! Happily, I still have my VHS from 89 and it's still playable.
How does the story end? I came across this clip and now I'm curious. From what I understand it isn't the same as the original story. Does the guy come back to life somehow in this version?
my favorite story by the Grimm brothers love the song.
I'm 58. I remember that movie as a kid. It is creepier to me than any other horror flick I've ever seen. Still gives me the heebie jeebies.
One of my favorites when I was a kid
we all remembered the creepy part
When I was a kid my grandmother gave us a copy of this movie that she'd recorded off television. This story terrified me. To top it off, the tape ran out before the movie ended, so just as Ludwig starts babbling his hysterical defense, the movie ended. Scared the bejesus out of me for weeks after.
for nearly 15yrs or so, i have tried to figure out what this movie was called...i looked everywhere and asked everyone...no one ever knew what i was talking about, and i could never find it online......i thank you for putting this up, and i wish i could find a copy or a larger clip, i have only been able to find The Singing Bone, in spanish.
Gives me the shivers....in a good way...
I saw this as a kid, but somehow associated it with Abbott and Costello, don't know why, but anyway, I was reading this Cracked.com article about Grimm's fairy tales too dark to read to your kids, and when I got to the one about The Singing Bone, I thought, hmm... googled it, came across this video, and that effed up singing voice will be keeping me up again!
I like the original story better, I love this Bone's song
Ditto myself TornadoRed. Scared the piss out of me.
incredible!!! why I never seen this movie in Spain?
Sorry I miss typed the movie is called the wonderful world of the brothers Grimm
i have been tryung to find tgis movie for years it was so scary but magical as a kid im gonna show ny kids tonite
F****n creepy that part always spooked me
hm. i'm working on telling this story in class and since I've went through the story so many times, this song doesn't really creep me out. which is weird, because i usually freak out over movie posters and music videos, but strangely i'm okay with this. XD
please share this! I want to see it so bad and they don't have it on dvd!
This movie is called the many adventures of the brothers Grimm
If someone knows how this song was recorded, PLEASE tell us!
That said, here's my guess.
In the Twilight Zone episode The Fever, they made slot machine "talk" by recording coins being dispensed, playing it through a small speaker strapped to a voice actor's throat, and having them vocalize as the sound played.
This sounds VERY similar to that weird dissonant tone, so I'd guess a similar method, maybe with a recording of a flute?
why is this film so hard to find? :( does anyone know where to obtain a copy?
the guy sounds techno
thats cool
it looks an intereting movie but cant find it anywhere!
great👋 Cinerama epic I saw this in three strip process don't make films like this anymore wish Cinerama came back
Nice use of the sonovox
The recording version of the soundtrack is vastly superior to the film. Beautiful editing, and the mix of songs and narration is quite affecting. Opt for that instead of watching the film, and you'll come away much more excited by the whole thing.
I've waited years to see the whole film,... read this to find out who owns it and why you've not seen an official DVD en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wonderful_World_of_the_Brothers_Grimm
What movie is this scene from?
What is it saying?
Oh, King ? there's undo my tale
I sleep beneath a tree
My ? Ludwig raised his sword
and pulled it into me
I'll never walk the earth again
or hear a a bird or plant a seed
Did the man who slew me said
He's sorry for the deed
Oh king listen to my tale
I sleep beneath the tree
my master Ludwig raised his sword
and drive it into me
I'll never walk the Earth again
Or sing a song or plant a tree
till the man who slew me says
he's sorry for the deed
there are more lyrics but they aren't in the film; I have a rare old sheet music pamphlet from the original release of the film with all the lyrics to the songs in it
Anyone know where you can buy this movie?? I've been searching for it for years!
PlatypusDuctTape If you live in the UK, you can get it on Blu-Ray. If not, you can watch for it on the TCM channel, they air it quite frequently. Sadly, it isn't on their schedule up to at least July or August...
PlatypusDuctTape You can also buy it on VHS on Amazon, but it is severely cropped and takes away from the film's magic.
You can only find it on video tape only due to fact its damaged and incomplete with parts of the film. Should say so on this website: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wonderful_World_of_the_Brothers_Grimm#References
@BloodWired Why did they write different lyrics?
