I love this movie. I just came across this, and I'm delighted you're covering it. This film is so '70s, and a lot of fun. Nicely done review. :)

I wanted to be a Sandman when I was younger. Nothing cooler than their attire with the grey block across the front and the cool gun.

Funny you mentioned that Before Star Wars came out I used to do Science Fiction, comic book conventions and young people Ladies and Gentleman would dress up from the movie Logan’s Run. It was fun to see how devoted they were to the movie.

What I find amazing is that this movie won an Oscar for best special effects and the next year Star Wars came out and blew everything out of the water.

One of my all-time favorite movies. Probably the last old-school Hollywood style sci-fi movie before George Lucas rewrote the book on the genre. Nice review - glad to see this movie is still remembered.

The thing about being born in the late 1960s is that my first exposure to many classic sci-fi movies of the 1960s and 70s wasn't to the movies; it was to TV adaptations. My first exposure to Logan's Run was the 1977 TV series starring Gregory Harrison. That show was very different from the movie in that instead of returning to the city, Logan, Jessica, and an android they find traveled across the post-apocalyptic countryside, having adventures of the week while being pursued by Francis. To this day, the role I most associate Gregory Harrison with is Logan. Care to guess what role I associate Patrick Duffy with? Yes, the Man from Atlantis. My experience with Planet of the Apes was very similar to Logan's Run in that it was to the Ron Harper James Naughton 1974 TV series. But I was younger (6) when that show came out. I remember being really upset when my Planet of the Apes coloring book didn't follow the plot of the series. The first time I saw the Charlton Heston movie, I didn't like that the humans couldn't talk because they could talk in the series. I was older when I first saw the Logan's Run series and could really appreciate its charms, mainly Jenny Agutter. My first exposure to Fantastic Voyage was actually to a Saturday morning cartoon series made by (if I recall correctly) Filmation.

Thanks so much for watching! I've yet to see the Logan's Run TV adaptation, but it does sound interesting... I have seen a little of the Fantastic Voyage show, which reminded me of the Star Trek animated series. Thanks again for your comments, have a great week. 📽👏

@@ReelClassicFilmReviews The complete Logan's Run series was released on DVD and is also available to purchase on Amazon, Vudu, and other services. I believe it can also be found through less legal means. The Fantastic Voyage animated series is available to watch on TH-cam. I doubt the uploader had the legal right to upload it, but so long as the rightsholder doesn't object, it should remain available. The episodes I found were uploaded in 2018.

I rewatched this today after many many years. I absolutely loved it especially the second half. It's a lot of fun. I even liked the wonky special effects. The soundtrack was brilliant. I also really like Michael York I thought he was great. I recommend the ballad of Narayama 1958 it's a Japanese movie it's not sci fi but it's about a society centuries ago where when you reach the age of 70 you are to go up mount Narayama to die it's very interesting how they deal with the situation.

Another excellent review. Coincidentally I just included this film in my video answers to the "About You Movie Quiz" as my biggest let-down. Love that first half though.

I was a big enthusiast about science fiction as a boy and I remember this as being a terrible disappointment when I saw it on the television after having looked forward to it. Nothing very interesting seems to happen at the end of the film. The TV series was extremely forgettable too.
One thing I remember is that the book it's based on has all the characters being killed at the age of 21 or something similar. They changed that to 30 for the film because they didn't want to use child actors.
Michael York was the Prince of Wales in film called "Seven Days in Japan". I think the best thing I've seen him in is "The Riddle of the Sands" which was pretty good I thought.

I had read the book some years before. I saw it at the cinema never thought it was a classic. For reasons I can’t explain I never liked Michael York. Apart from cabaret that is

The movie bored me... Reminded me too much of a really bad espisode of original Star Trek that just went on and on too long to the obvious predictable ending.
