I had grave concerns given EA's reputation for taking good games and running them into the ground (just look at how pathetic Madden has become), but this also shows you what healthy competition can do.
The career mode is a lot better in EA. The presentation is top notch. I was loving the nastalgia of it. I will say after building my players ratings up the game has gotten pretty easy even on hard difficulty tour settings. Some shot types like flop and pick are automatic. No matter how much I played 2k21 or 2k23 it was a good challenge to get under par for me on pro level. The swing timing could be a pain in the butt if there is a controller lag issue. Pros and cons of both grimmy. I'm actually expecting 2k to put more more effort into their next game into the presentation like nba2k.
I'd love them to use the same amount of resource into the look of it as the nba games. They are stunning! I'm going to buy 2k on pc this week and give it a go again, as when I played it was for ps5
I like the swing style, gameplay, physics and shot selections from EA much better but I really miss the course creator from 2K. Especially the fantasy courses made by the community. To me, those courses are the most fun by a long shot.
I guess I'm old school I turned the timing off on 2K didn't find it fun at all and I sure do miss being able to spend the ball after its hit. Giving you a chance to see where it's going to land and letting you have the opportunity to correct it right before it hits the ground. But to be quite honest this is the first golf game I've played since probably 2010 I was an old school PlayStation 2 Tiger woods fan
Got 2K23 two years ago. Bought EA PGA Tour 2 weeks ago (disccount). EA PGA Tour shaders (enhaced shadows) make outstanding graphics either in the game presentation and most of the courses. All surfaces you see in the game have remarcable "bumps" wheter fairways, greens, walls, etc. Ball rolling on those surfaces including rough is also very realistic. EA games are 100% arcade, you need to earn points in order to get the best out of skills or equipment. 2K23 is laking on shaders and all surfaces look "flat", although not standing 3D objecst, like trees, plants, buildings, etc. 2K23 is way better in ball behavior and shots settings. Ball fly is also more realistic, As True Sim player I am (hardest game settings with no help at all) can say that EA PGA Tour has a very poor "simulation" level missing completelly information about altitud and club lenght. 2K23 has a much better rang of shot settings at "Legend" level, although you do not get direct information about wind strengh there are graphics for you to "estimate". EA PGA Tour has 30 courses (don't remember the amount), 2K23 has over 50 thousand courses and new ones coming nevery single day, About 2000 courses are good enough and enjoyable.
I mastered 2k23 and got EA on discount like a month ago and I have to say EA is a harder and more realistic game to me. 2k23 is a bit too easy once mastered, and so I've really enjoyed having to get used to the new mechanics, and the swing for me is the same between both games. Club down and swing out of my shoes lol
The difficulty in 2K23 is what keeps me playing. I want it to be hard to hit the fairway or green and fight to break par. When you shoot -5 your actually thrilled…EA has always been easy, and you get this expectation to almost birdie every hole. EA has the better licences career and graphics for sure…but 2K23 looks great, so do we really need that better of graphics? The multiplayer is so easy on 2K23 to join with friends. When I want to play a golf game, I don’t want a chore (to have to mess with anything)… I just want to play and 2k23 is seamless and polished. Plus unlimited professionally designed courses with the course creator. I love having two options and EA is more for people who was a simple experience, and a simpler game. Both are great on their own as long as you understand what you want.
@gazhunter7049nah I agree tbh, same exact thing, I think the putting in ea is what is hurting me bad and lack of spin, but on 2k if you add spin and set your shot just right you can chip in or get 3 feet from hole no problem
I loved playing ea pga the last couple of months and if you asked me a month ago which game is better I would of said EA is way better but now I don't know. The presentation in EA is way better but to your point the gameplay/ challenge has stalled for me a bit. Once I got my player ratings up pretty high the game got easy. I can consistently shot 7-10 under on hard difficulty ona EA PGA. Shooting under par on 2k23 is a grind for me on pro a difficulty. That challenge is fun though. My biggest problem with 2k21 and 2k23 is worrying if my controller/ swing timing will not ne in sync. I don't have to worry about that in EA. I hope 2k puts effort into the graphics, announcers, presentation like they do in the nba games. Add a few shot types and 2k could really be good. The best thing about this is the 2 games will push eachother down the road.
We're lucky to have two great golf games to play - there was a period there where we had precious little. I hope they both sell well for the makers, as we want regular new golf games into the future. My personal preference is EA, as it has all the famous courses and they look amazing. I also think EA is so much fun to play.
I've played both games, and recently been playing ea sports PGA tour a LOT more than 2k23. I played casually in 2k but I wanted to get the new ea PGA as well. For me it was a difficulty change for sure, but hitting shots feels much nicer in ea sports PGA tour
I've really wanted to get into a good golf game for a little bit, and seeing how big this community is makes me want to get either game even more. Quality video, and now I'm just happy to get any one I can get my hands on!
Depends on what you want from the game. I see online players like 2k better. I play career mode and EA's Career is more engrossing. For me, 2k needs to step up their career mode, which is surprising seeing as 2k usually is great in that regard.
About 2 weeks ago i switched back to 2k as my regular play for golf. Just cant beat course designer and the amount of courses you can play. I play alot by myself and i enjoy finding local courses people have made and also courses ea and 2k never put in game but someone made (Bandon Dunes, The Loop, Coeur D Alene Resort, looften Links etc)
I play 2K for the created courses, and I make courses now. My most recent course is The King's Palace and I'm about 8 holes in to my next one. Have a go and let me know what you think..?
I'm loving both. 2k more for me though as the course creation is stunning. And the multiplayer is so much fun. I'm looking forward to next version of both though as they are both competing for are money.
I think the course creator and the multiplayer aspects will keep 2K going for much longer! The next iterations of both could see some special special editions if they get it right!
@PC Classic Golf 30 year old here. And owner of a pc where I sim race, so it’s good enough of a rig. Bringing up money was such a loser point. But How about you get a little more dough and buy a console and have the best of everything. I also own a vr and I do all my “sim golfing” on that. Ps, I love sim golf so I wasn’t knocking anyone’s age.
@@pcclassicgolf I started with a spectrum 48k. And do you know how sad your reply is to a golf game. The ones with the dough?? Grow up and act you're age.
2k23 swing timing mechanics is definitely best. It gives thrills and tension of perfectly timing your shot with full concentration and despair if you miss it. This can make online matches thrilling.
Thanks for the balanced and informative video! Been quite a few years since I played a golf game and got the hankering to play some. Was a little confused as to what to choose with there being two recent releases. More of a single player myself so decided to go for the EA offering. Thanks again! 👍😁
The more pertinent question is… do you like playing a game that ignores physics and randomly sends you into the tress for no reason. If so, EA’s game is better. If you want to have some fun and enjoy your round of golf, go for 2K23.
2k21 and 2k23 are both incredibly frustrating... destroying the competition on Amateur so I put it to pro am and suddenly I can't get out of a bunker... No matter how many times I calibrate my swing always ends up slightly fast.
I use to be someone who despised EA’s version but now I like both for different reasons. 2K’s is relaxing and better and a more casual feel but EA’s is genuinely really really tough but getting good and pulling off those great shots feels absolutely amazing.
There is no argument that EA have done a very good job with the career mode and the courses do look very nice. My problem with it though is the slow swing mechanic for me it just looks weird and yes I'm going to say it, i think the game is too easy. I have absolutely no fear standing on the tee with the driver for example as i rarely miss the fairway, and if i do, let's face it the rough is hardly punishing. Personally I'm already getting a bit bored with it but i do understand why people like that its a bit easier. There is definitely room for both games and some will prefer 2K and others will prefer EA. At the moment it's 2K for me, because of its challenge, it's online offerings, the course creator and the community.
Anecdotal..but my brother was getting 12 under after one round on 2k23..moved to EA and was over par after a round..he said EA is much harder. You can always bump up the difficulty 🤷🏼♂️
@Jae Austin If your brother was scoring -12 on Master setting with most things turned off on 2k23 after one round, then he is some kind of phenom at that game and good on him, but I very much doubt it. As for EA, i play on the hardest settings, and the only thing I have turned on are the green grids and I'm thinking of turning them off.
@@2cows534 uh nah..who said Master? We're casual golf game players.. You seem to be more on the hardcore side..or..you don't mind breaking a few controllers lol. I guess once you've mastered golf games..but EA's is easier..to a casual..it seems 2k is easier to pick up and play
Thanks very much for your opinions on both games. You have helped me make my decision, which will be the for EA and my wife and I who, though in our fifties now and about to invest in a PS5 purely for the golf, where hooked on it some twenty years ago when it was all Tiger Woods. I’ve never been so ex for Xmas 😂.
For me it would be EA even though I've got 2K as well. Seems like EA is more geared towards single player, like me. I don't like going online all that much at all and playing against a toxic community. Whether that's in PGA 2K23 I don't know, but it's in the majority of games. And also PGA 2K23 is basically The Golf Club and the majority of that game is online too.
@@andrew-sz3ct how is it better? Just looking at them..2k looks stiff..I played 21..so I'm legitimately asking..I do find EA's to be much better than 2k21
Being new to golf games and switching between the two games (one on ps plus, the other on EA playtest for free), EA delivers a more authetic experience in my opinion. The presentation and the crowd sound is way better and the swings are a bit more beginner friendly, at least for me.
As long as these golf game developers keep making the games using the same crappy "Unity looking" engine from 2013 they will be stuck. We need a 3rd party to come out and completely break the mold. It's about time.
For me Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003 is the goated game for me. Hate how everything 2k does has to basically be simulation instead of an arcade-like game like they used to be.
well i'm the complete opposite and always have been, i hate arcade with a passion, would prefer if career mode was more fleshed out people say it's little dumbed down compared to EA, but if EA is far more an arcade game, then leave me out dumb down physics like that just bore me too tears, and you just help me decide on 2k..so thx
Do you have any recommendations for someone like me who wants to recapture the fun from the early tiger woods pga tour games? I enjoyed the silliness, being able to spin the ball mid flight, having those power up shots, and the epic fantasy courses. Does that still exist anywhere?
Why does no one talk about you can’t play online with your friends??? All I wanna do is best ball with my friend but can’t which is actually insane for a 2023 release. Would’ve never bought if I knew.
Haven’t played a golf game since tiger woods 2005 or around there. Recently got into pga masters and have been having fun. Too bad EA doesn’t really give you in game currency to upgrade your equipment though 😢
2005 was my favourite when I was kid! It does give you them through rewards and through objectives. There's also online tournaments payouts. Make sure you are opening the rewards section to get your payouts.
Like both. If you get it, EA becomes to easy after a time. Career mode becomes to easy. 2K I didn't like the swing, but putting there feels better. And the whole amount of courses is great.
Agree with all that. The putting is more natural in 2k. I can just aim, pull the club back and let it go. Ea if it's 2 feet uphill, you have to adjust the distance back. Not natural
Both my golf game buddies are mia with young kids atm. Otherwise no turn based online would be a deal breaker. So this landed at a good for me and online aside I think its the best golf game that has been made. I played allot of 2k21 but skipped 2k23 because I didn’t care for some of the “features” they added. And I still prefer developer made versions of the PGA courses.
I 100 percent agree. No turned base is a deal breaker... It takes away from the immersion. Putting the pressure on my buddies, online, when theyre making a shot is part of the fun. Not to mention, thats part of the game of Golf. Bummed out about this because I have been dying for a solid gold game for about 10-15 years and it seems 2k23 is cross play and Road to the master is not... I wonder, is road to the mased turn based? @stgrimmy1692
Does anyone know where the Pro Pass level 90 reward goes? The orange one. What is it and where can I find it? It's not in my Driver, Wood, Hybrid, Iron, Wedge or Ball menu.
3:12 I'm probably in the odd minority that likes the career mode of 2k23. The learning curve for EA Sports PGA Tour is much steeper due to the different types of golf swings. In 2k23, I can initially drop the difficulty down, go three clicks and just mash the ball once you set an archetype. The rivalry mode in 2k23 is a season within itself. Assuming you set the probability of CPU attendance to 100%. You can beat everyone 3 times in a season, if you participate and win everywhere.
I really like the difficulty of 2k, but man that game just looks decidedly last gen at this point. EA is just a bit too easy though, not enough penalty for the swing stick or hitting out of a bad lie.
Casual player view: Ea is better. 2ks downswing timing mechanic is super unfun. I play at a 4 handicap in real golf and after about 10 rounds in 2k, I still couldn’t approach better than bogey golf with their standard settings for online play. While I’m sure the difficulty level is great for the hardcore, if I have to devote that much time to the game to be decent at it, I rather just play real golf. Ea in the other hand has online play available for every level of player. I still own both, and 2k is worth it just for the course creator. (Especially since I can turn off downswing timing for solo play.)
The deluxe version is on sale for $50.. I waited to see if they was gonna being 60fps into it but it’s a good game does it matter? I’m a graphic nerd so I want 120fps lol.. but I think it’s time to buy it and it’s cheaper then 2k23 at the moment.I do hear that the customize character is better in 2k and multiplayer but I’m not online.I play single player and career and all so I don’t care about online.I just want a good gold game and next gen and graphics to max..Ima buy it for my ps5
I think 2k is such a better game swing-to-swing. The amount of time it to play 18 holes in 2k compared to PGA is crazy. I can knock out 18 holes of career mode in 2k in 20 minutes. I tried EA for about a week and I really didn’t like it. It’s 2k for me by a long shot
Both have pluses and minuses. Slight edge to 2K with turn based multiplayer and the course designer. Have had EA for 3 weeks and am already bored with playing the same courses, friends won't buy the game due to no turn based multiplayer. We'll have to see how committed ES is to the player base and what improvements they make.
I was just about to buy it until I read your post. No turn based Multiplayer is a deal breaker for my golfing friends.. What were they thinking.. Until they add it, I'm staying away. Thanks for the info.
EA Sports massively dropped the ball by not giving PC players the ability to swing with the mouse. An absolutely disgusting oversight that I can't forgive despite vastly better visuals that EA brings to the table over 2K.
Brought EA’s traded it in because 2k was coming to PS plus.. I’m considering re buying EA’s. EA’s looks so much better, the presentation, Graphics, and the career is so much better. I hated how fast and what seems random erroring on my swing on 2k.. it just didn’t seem right and I feel EA have nailed the swing, even club selection and shot selection seems hard work on 2k.
Good for Single player/Career mode, graphics = EA -EA not good for multiplayer Good for Multiplayer = 2k -2k not good for Single player/career, graphics.
For realism I’d say EA but for gameplay 2K23 for me. The ball physics on EA look like an N64 and the gameplay feels sluggish as 2K23 feels a lot smoother
i enjoyed your comparison. I haven't bought either one because it is my understanding that you cannot use a mouse with EA, which I like better. Could you let me know? Thanks Jim
Pretty good video. I agree with all of your points. But I think you understated the amazing course creation, and the incredible courses that have been created on 2K. Literally hundreds of amazing courses, both real and imaginary. You were 100% right on about the better Career Mode on EA. I think that's very well done. BUT - I wish you would have showed appropriate video while you were discussing things. Instead, you just talked and ruminated over your video of you playing EA PGA Tour. I'm still waiting for somebody to make a real comparison video with illustrative comparison footage of the things they're talking about between the two games.
EA absolutely smash it with the presentation, but having played a decent amount of it, i feel like the physics are off and the animations feel stiff. Whislt 2K feels much more refined
EA PGA Tour is much more immersive for me. The courses feel like they have individual character and are absolutely stunning to look at. Now that the game has had some fine tuning with bug fixes it's really really enjoyable working through the singleplayer career, trying to improve your understanding of the game mechanics, grow your character etc. It's a great experience. PGA 2k23 is a fun game but doesn't give me the same vibe, it feels more like a party golf game than an immersive golf experience.
So is turn based multiplayer waiting for each shot to be taken? Because I know they have everyone taking shots at the same time. I havent played much multiplayer so not sure what the main difference is?
I did a comparison 2k23 ( eh.. ) vs EA Tour Trial The PC Graphics on 2k23 are superb , and very polished, but the 3 click which i was looking forward to sucks big time, and makes no sense to me. The Analog which i was used to came in to restore my faith in the game as last years . EA Tour on the Xbox Trial version ( still free ) has been updated as well with the 3 click swing , and really made my day. Loved the Game play and the Graphics , not quite as good as on my High end PC, but the game play was fun and much better than 9 months ago and not as stiff and boring as 2k23 is. My vote is with EA Tour and 4 Stars as i felt like it was Augusta , by the shadows and just the texture of the game . Love the 3 click gameplay . Jees Louise ...another 90 Bucks though , Darn Starfield syndrome .
Both games are great smashed both tour's single player/hard but prefer the physics with EA swing and the pace for me feels pretty solid not fussed reference perfect graphics as long as it plays true to the game.
Comparing both, i was expecting to see gameplay from both games. After i realized, i skipped through the video, so I’m not sure if they mentioned why lol
My question is, in EA Sports PGA Tour, does it save game progress automatically after each hole in the career mode? or u have to finish the whole round?
I miss "Winning Putt Online." I'm looking for another golf game now (PC) where I can interact with other players. Especially in a guild. Does 2K offer this?
I wouldn't say 2k does have that, it's got societies where they do online tournaments etc, but apart from that and playing someone online that's about it.
That's one thing that made winning putt so enjoyable. The guilds, contests, tournaments. And just chatting with people throughout the game. Oh and watching them shoot throughout the match. @@stgrimmy1692
EAs short game swing mechanics are so awkward. For a game that is all about emersion, that is weak. Other than that, EA is a beautiful game and a ton of fun to play. I personally don’t care much about online gaming, but instead would love to see better short game swing mechanics and added courses down the road. I hope they keep adding to the game, and not coming out with a new version next year. I wouldn’t mind if that meant a small added fee for new courses.
2k presentation & career mode has 0 depth but the courses & feel of playing is pretty sweet, picked it up over EA because it’s 1/4 the price & at the end of the day i just want to play golf, really enjoying it. is the EA game just career mode as well or can you play as actual golfers?
They way EA has all those challenges and the real tour moments you get to play, it's like The Show but Golf. I'd love it if EA had a Driving range to practice, driving, chimping, and putz. They both have their positive and negative. I'm tired, so I'm rambling. OK, take care then. Bye bye
(I can't speak English, so it's Google translation. I'm sorry.) I prefer the EA PGA TOUR over 2K. [Better than 2K] ・You can play on the courses of the 4 major tournaments (+ The Players Championship). (Augusta, St. Andrews, Pebble Beach, Southern Hills, Oak Hill, TPC Sawgrass, etc.) ・This year's US Open and British Open are scheduled to be added. (Los Angeles, Royal Liverpool) ・There are many official courses offered by manufacturers. (Currently, 29 real courses on the PGA Tour, 2 virtual courses) ・The course is realistic and super beautiful. - You can use real players. (Matsuyama can also use it.) ・Swing and impact sounds are realistic and wonderful. ・Audience cheers. ・The player's expression is rich. ・The production at the time of the super shot is thrilling. ・There are many types of shots and putts. (Skill unlock type) ・You can use real clubs, bags, clothes, etc. (Unlock type) ・Complete career mode. ・Tournaments such as daily and weekly. [Inferior to 2K] ・Slightly rough operation feeling. ・The operability is not intuitive. (No problem once you get used to it.) ・When the setting is high, the graphics sometimes drop frames. ・You cannot design your own course. (= You cannot play on courses created by volunteers.) ・The stick type can only be used with a controller, not a mouse. ・Simple multiplayer mode. Also, it doesn't match because there's no one.
Personally I don't think their that bad, but I think the graphics not being as great is down to two things. The first being its a small studio in comparison to EA's and the sec9nd being its tethered to the previous gen consoles
I am a casual Golf gamer so I went with EA just to mess around. All my friends wanna do is Madden, Call of Booty...I mean Duty or GTA 5 so this game is just for me to chill with and not hear any garbage griefers
I like the career mode of 2K as much as EA. 2K23 Is a big jump from 2K21 in terms of career As someone with zero interest in real golf but who LOVES computer golf, the lack of real pros and real courses doesn't bother me at all. I only know the names of about 2 golfers IRL anyway and maybe 5 golf courses? So I don't care if I'm playing Arnold Palmer or Fred Bloggs at the Belfrey or on "Madeup Island". I never play online (I'm no where near good enough) so I enjoy both games about the same
Iv played both but iv stuck with 2k23 it's better all day long.. it feels much better but takes a lot of practice to get the feel of the swing, im better with the 3 click on 2k
Is the UI buggy as hell too? And why after every private match do I get kicked out. And why do I have to go into online mode just to accept my friends invite. The EA game is fun as hell though ngl. I haven’t played a golf game since I was a kid, I’ve been having a blast. The UI is so shittt though goddamn 😂
This game ripped me off ,never got my masters shirt for winning masters. The tee shots go right or left even though I hit straight every time, pitching, Putting are no better, can't get stars for completing challenges, terrible character selection and apparel selection. I'd say this game is a major fail.

@@stgrimmy1692 I have tried Competitive and Social mode anyway ill try again today i tried a few times yesterday and could never find a match for some reason just kept loading "finding players"
2K23’s swing mechanics are fast and fluid. EA’s feel like you’re swinging underwater. 2K also has custom courses and Tiger Woods. The choice should be clear.
in my opinion 2k23 is easier and more arcadey while ea's is more challenging and simulation, plus all its bugs make it more unpredictable the way golf in real life could be lol..
At the time of recording I didn't have 2k on pc, so couldn't record any, only had it on ps5 and don't have the necessary equipment to record it on there
I only came here to see what yout thoughts were on the 2 games as so far i have only played 2k23 but i am thinking of buying PGA BEAT THE MASTERS last one i played was Rory Mccilroy and found it to be ok but after so long it got boring i am not interested in going online and playing serious but would like to play game thats has all the correct PGA Courses along with all the Majors and playing 2k23 you cannot get those options ,as for player licences be it Tiger or any of the other big name stars , does not bother me either i just want a game where i can throw disc into my xbox and play a round with a decent opponant that i do not end up beating him by 20 under par and him only getting 6 under par it rediculas why not have a game that gives you options to set realistic scores such as i get 8 under but AI PLAYER is pushing me all the way that way it gives me something to beat instead of my score is huge and the AIplayer gives up afer 5 or 6 holes . Well thats my thoughts and thankyou for the video it has helped to decide i will be buying beat the masters and see how that goes .
Commentary in EA is better, hands-down. It's too dull and generic in 2k. But I just love Frank Nobilo. EA: Commentary, depth, realism. 2K: Course designer, graphics. Career mode is to me a draw.
EA isn't concerned with depth in games. Monetization is their main concern. They gave us a career mode but we don't even have a driving range to practice on.
Sadly 2k23 is the same. Has an in game currency and you get paid pittence for completing rounds and they want you to pay for more currency. My golfer is currently wearing something that looks like my Nan made. Not sure EA's game can be as tight as this. Most EA golf games in the past were reasonably fair handed when it came to that stuff. Maybe not Fifa etc but the golf games always seemed more fair.
@@stgrimmy1692 very possibly an issue with my install it’s the only game I have load time issues with ea sports I find the spin more realistic as well it more like what I can do in real life
Competition is king, both games have to push updates and great new games to stay on top so its a win for us.
Exactly right Philly! It's what Madden, Fifa and a few other sports games miss is that competition.
wait until EA puts a ultimate team in this and sucks the soul out of another franchise.
@@adrew22 I don't think they can.... but that being said, I thought couldn't for the F1 franchise, and the new mode in that sounds rather suspicious.

I'd love them to use the same amount of resource into the look of it as the nba games. They are stunning! I'm going to buy 2k on pc this week and give it a go again, as when I played it was for ps5
If EA comes out with a course design program, and a ranked system like 2K, they will have a home run.
As long as they work haha
I like the swing style, gameplay, physics and shot selections from EA much better but I really miss the course creator from 2K. Especially the fantasy courses made by the community. To me, those courses are the most fun by a long shot.
Couldn’t agree more.
I guess I'm old school I turned the timing off on 2K didn't find it fun at all and I sure do miss being able to spend the ball after its hit.
PGA Tour or bust.
2K is about $15 to buy now on several platforms, so it’s definitely the better proposition until EA has a big price drop.
At that price 2k is a bargain
£34.99 for EA PGA at the moment
And now EA is on Xbox Game Pass.
$18 CAD for EA right now. Going to pick it up
@@SamNotHamdo u need game pass to play pga? i bought it and i can’t download it. i’m on ole gen btw
Yeah having 2 different is good! Long may it continue!
@gaz Hunter what 😂😂 2k is by far the harder game
@gaz Hunter you aint gotta lie bro lol 2k is harder and its not close. ea is so stiff.
I feel far more chilled playing EA 🤣 so my blood pressure probably prefers EA as well.
I totally agree...and it's about damn time too!
Absolutely after the Rory cover one there was nothing? Desperate times that was but it is so good to have competition now. 👍
I have 2K23 and debating on getting EA Sports PGA Tour as it's on sale on Xbox right now for $27.99.
Please sign this petition to expand the multiplayer experience!
I've played both games, and recently been playing ea sports PGA tour a LOT more than 2k23. I played casually in 2k but I wanted to get the new ea PGA as well. For me it was a difficulty change for sure, but hitting shots feels much nicer in ea sports PGA tour
Glad you are enjoying it Alex!
I've really wanted to get into a good golf game for a little bit, and seeing how big this community is makes me want to get either game even more. Quality video, and now I'm just happy to get any one I can get my hands on!
As long as you enjoy whichever one you play that's the main thing! I've been 2K a lot on ps5 again
Depends on what you want from the game. I see online players like 2k better. I play career mode and EA's Career is more engrossing. For me, 2k needs to step up their career mode, which is surprising seeing as 2k usually is great in that regard.
Yeah if 2K can nail the career mode then I think it's pretty much perfect in terms modes
I am starting to think about giving it a go again on pc.
I play 2K for the created courses, and I make courses now. My most recent course is The King's Palace and I'm about 8 holes in to my next one. Have a go and let me know what you think..?
DEAL. Playing it tonight to warm up for my society event@@andrewtrott5225
For me I'm only here for multiplayer. I agree with you
Maybe get a controller? Who plays a golf game like this with a mouse? This isn’t SimGolf from 2000
@PC Classic Golf 30 year old here.
Glad I could help!
I wouldn’t be opposed to buying both if they are both stellar games. I think developers just gotta put out a good product and people will pay
Now that there's competition from both sides it will hopefully kick them on to improve
2k map making is what keeps me coming back. PGA is such a grind to get decent equipment and clothes
Yeah 2K is leaps and bounds of EA in those regard
The more pertinent question is… do you like playing a game that ignores physics and randomly sends you into the tress for no reason. If so, EA’s game is better. If you want to have some fun and enjoy your round of golf, go for 2K23.
2k21 and 2k23 are both incredibly frustrating... destroying the competition on Amateur so I put it to pro am and suddenly I can't get out of a bunker...
No matter how many times I calibrate my swing always ends up slightly fast.
Links, and Tiger woods was my favorite golf games. There was another one also for Sega but cant remember it. had John dailey on it i think
Links and Microprose golf ⛳️ on Amiga were the best
I haven’t played PGA Tour, but I like the 2K swing I like how it challenges you to really fine-tune it. Definitely gonna have to try this PGA game!
Let me know what you think!
let me also know what you thougth of the game
EA with a better career mode…never thought I’d hear those words.
Yeah I think you've pretty much nailed it with the comparison there Cows!
@@jaeaustin7362 Breaking controllers whilst screaming obscenities, you're not wrong there 😂
Thanks very much for your opinions on both games. You have helped me make my decision, which will be the for EA and my wife and I who, though in our fifties now and about to invest in a PS5 purely for the golf, where hooked on it some twenty years ago when it was all Tiger Woods. I’ve never been so ex for Xmas 😂.
Hope you enjoy!
This is the first time I've been excited to play a golf game in a long time since 05. I'm loving what I've got in EA PGA Tour.
That's fair!
2K23 is a PHENOMENAL golf game.
Might take me a while to get used to the swing mechanic again haha 😄
I regret buying EA PGA. PGA 2K23 is easily the better game. Not even close.
@@andrew-sz3ct Damn dogg, I'm right there with you. I actually pre-order EA. I've uninstalled it.

Being new to golf games and switching between the two games (one on ps plus, the other on EA playtest for free), EA delivers a more authetic experience in my opinion. The presentation and the crowd sound is way better and the swings are a bit more beginner friendly, at least for me.
I played 2k21 and 23 aLOT. Since EA came out I haven’t played a single round on 2K23, if fact I plan on deleting it from my xbox
Do you think you would ever go back to 2k?
@@stgrimmy1692 no chance
EA PGA is terrible
As long as these golf game developers keep making the games using the same crappy "Unity looking" engine from 2013 they will be stuck. We need a 3rd party to come out and completely break the mold. It's about time.
I want to make my own golf courses, but I DON’T want to play online. Which game should I get?
For me Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003 is the goated game for me. Hate how everything 2k does has to basically be simulation instead of an arcade-like game like they used to be.
well i'm the complete opposite and always have been, i hate arcade with a passion, would prefer if career mode was more fleshed out people say it's little dumbed down compared to EA, but if EA is far more an arcade game, then leave me out dumb down physics like that just bore me too tears, and you just help me decide on 2k..so thx
@@josneira1827 You're welcome lol. I ended up picking it up for $15 since I have some friends that play it too.
Do you have any recommendations for someone like me who wants to recapture the fun from the early tiger woods pga tour games? I enjoyed the silliness, being able to spin the ball mid flight, having those power up shots, and the epic fantasy courses. Does that still exist anywhere?
GTAV had some fun, simple golf. I hope they feature golf in GTA6. It wasn't as serious as a dedicated golf game, but it's fun.
Why does no one talk about you can’t play online with your friends??? All I wanna do is best ball with my friend but can’t which is actually insane for a 2023 release. Would’ve never bought if I knew.
Online needs a major update no doubt
what game?
Haven’t played a golf game since tiger woods 2005 or around there. Recently got into pga masters and have been having fun. Too bad EA doesn’t really give you in game currency to upgrade your equipment though 😢
2005 was my favourite when I was kid! It does give you them through rewards and through objectives. There's also online tournaments payouts. Make sure you are opening the rewards section to get your payouts.
Like both. If you get it, EA becomes to easy after a time. Career mode becomes to easy. 2K I didn't like the swing, but putting there feels better. And the whole amount of courses is great.
The course creator does make a huge difference
Agree with all that. The putting is more natural in 2k. I can just aim, pull the club back and let it go. Ea if it's 2 feet uphill, you have to adjust the distance back. Not natural
2k23 Pga Tour is now free for this month on PS Plus!
That's fair enough bud! Glad you enjoyed PGA
@@Smitty8998New update on ea’s pga brings turn based gameplay
@@n0body550 I read that just before buying it. Man I was so happy to read the upcomming patch. Appreciate you bro, thanks
Does 2K have the daily/weekly tournaments like EA? That’s my favorite part of EA tbh
I know there societies and different comps that come from there
Does anyone know where the Pro Pass level 90 reward goes? The orange one. What is it and where can I find it? It's not in my Driver, Wood, Hybrid, Iron, Wedge or Ball menu.
3:12 I'm probably in the odd minority that likes the career mode of 2k23. The learning curve for EA Sports PGA Tour is much steeper due to the different types of golf swings. In 2k23, I can initially drop the difficulty down, go three clicks and just mash the ball once you set an archetype. The rivalry mode in 2k23 is a season within itself. Assuming you set the probability of CPU attendance to 100%. You can beat everyone 3 times in a season, if you participate and win everywhere.
this is like comparing Burger King and McDonald's, they both suck.
I really like the difficulty of 2k, but man that game just looks decidedly last gen at this point. EA is just a bit too easy though, not enough penalty for the swing stick or hitting out of a bad lie.
I think that the graphics is linked to the fact previous generations of consoles, I think EA is a little easy.
would've been nice to see some 2k game footage lol good points though
Casual player view: Ea is better. 2ks downswing timing mechanic is super unfun. I play at a 4 handicap in real golf and after about 10 rounds in 2k, I still couldn’t approach better than bogey golf with their standard settings for online play. While I’m sure the difficulty level is great for the hardcore, if I have to devote that much time to the game to be decent at it, I rather just play real golf. Ea in the other hand has online play available for every level of player. I still own both, and 2k is worth it just for the course creator. (Especially since I can turn off downswing timing for solo play.)
That is the main thing for me is the swing, I'm going to a driving range for the first time next week so wish me luck 🤣
I really enjoy the career mode in EA, so I prefer that game to 2K. Both are fun games though.
No doubt!
Looks like your minds made up!
Fair enough Colton!
I deleted EA after a week. It’s like playing golf with a sledgehammer
Ea feels unresponsive for me I wish they would just use 2Ks swing mechanics
It does feel alot slower
Both have pluses and minuses. Slight edge to 2K with turn based multiplayer and the course designer. Have had EA for 3 weeks and am already bored with playing the same courses, friends won't buy the game due to no turn based multiplayer. We'll have to see how committed ES is to the player base and what improvements they make.
Fingers crossed EA and 2K commit to future games and updates 🙏
I was just about to buy it until I read your post. No turn based Multiplayer is a deal breaker for my golfing friends.. What were they thinking.. Until they add it, I'm staying away. Thanks for the info.
Wait, you can’t play head to head with a friend offline ?
Good for Single player/Career mode, graphics = EA
-EA not good for multiplayer
Good for Multiplayer = 2k
-2k not good for Single player/career, graphics.
I agree, don't mind single player on 2k but usually use it as practice for online
For realism I’d say EA but for gameplay 2K23 for me. The ball physics on EA look like an N64 and the gameplay feels sluggish as 2K23 feels a lot smoother
Yeah I feel the same
which one is better for beginners in golf game ? which one is simple to play?
I'd say EA is more forgiving in terms of errors etc
i enjoyed your comparison. I haven't bought either one because it is my understanding that you cannot use a mouse with EA, which I like better. Could you let me know? Thanks Jim
I'm not entirely sure, haven't used a mouse for either to be honest!
Fair point, I don't have 2k on PC.... yet. But I'll take it on board!
@@stgrimmy1692 That would be awesome!
EA badly needs turn based Multiplayer... Absolute joke this is missing!!
So is turn based multiplayer waiting for each shot to be taken? Because I know they have everyone taking shots at the same time. I havent played much multiplayer so not sure what the main difference is?
@@stgrimmy1692 Yeah turn based is so you can watch friends shots and vice versa.

I did a comparison 2k23 ( eh.. ) vs EA Tour Trial
The PC Graphics on 2k23 are superb , and very polished, but the 3 click which i was looking forward to sucks big time, and makes no sense to me.
2k23 by an absolute country mile. Course creator is the key factor.
Comparing both, i was expecting to see gameplay from both games. After i realized, i skipped through the video, so I’m not sure if they mentioned why lol
My question is, in EA Sports PGA Tour, does it save game progress automatically after each hole in the career mode? or u have to finish the whole round?
I think it does.... not 100% sure, I'll give it a test later and let you know!
Only thing is we all know EA and they will make it a yearly thing and add nothing each year just release a new one every year like every sports game
I'm worried about that also
I miss "Winning Putt Online." I'm looking for another golf game now (PC) where I can interact with other players.
With the major courses being added through the year and Ryder Cup content in September, then hopefully we get some big updates!
Bye bye

(Augusta, St. Andrews, Pebble Beach, Southern Hills, Oak Hill, TPC Sawgrass, etc.)
・This year's US Open and British Open are scheduled to be added.
(Los Angeles, Royal Liverpool)
・There are many official courses offered by manufacturers.
(Currently, 29 real courses on the PGA Tour, 2 virtual courses)
・The course is realistic and super beautiful.
- You can use real players.
(Matsuyama can also use it.)
・Swing and impact sounds are realistic and wonderful.
・Audience cheers.
・The player's expression is rich.
・The production at the time of the super shot is thrilling.
・There are many types of shots and putts. (Skill unlock type)
・You can use real clubs, bags, clothes, etc. (Unlock type)
・Complete career mode.
・Tournaments such as daily and weekly.
[Inferior to 2K]
・Slightly rough operation feeling.
・The operability is not intuitive.
(No problem once you get used to it.)
・When the setting is high, the graphics sometimes drop frames.
・You cannot design your own course.
(= You cannot play on courses created by volunteers.)
・The stick type can only be used with a controller, not a mouse.
・Simple multiplayer mode.
Also, it doesn't match because there's no one.
Fair enough!
2k graphics are so bad. Looks like from 5 years ago.
Personally I don't think their that bad, but I think the graphics not being as great is down to two things. The first being its a small studio in comparison to EA's and the sec9nd being its tethered to the previous gen consoles

2K23 Is a big jump from 2K21 in terms of career
As someone with zero interest in real golf but who LOVES computer golf, the lack of real pros and real courses doesn't bother me at all.

Iv played both but iv stuck with 2k23 it's better all day long.. it feels much better but takes a lot of practice to get the feel of the swing, im better with the 3 click on 2k
I wish 2k could get the NFL license so EA would be forced to make an actual decent Football game.
I think if there was another license for other sports games including NFL then the games would get better

At the time of recording I didn't have 2k on pc, so couldn't record any, only had it on ps5 and don't have the necessary equipment to record it on there
Can you use the ps move with any of the games?
Don't think so
you lucky mfs you got two developers killing it in the golf genre meanwhile i got ea fc for soccer and pes is dead
Competition is the biggest factor. Hopefully UFL brings something to the table!
Standard Game Play EA Sports is better. If you like to create your own courses and have more courses to choose from go with PGA Tour 2k23
I agree!
In terms of easy of use, I prefer Nintendo Switch Sports golf. Its more immersive and easier to jump into.
Commentary in EA is better, hands-down. It's too dull and generic in 2k. But I just love Frank Nobilo.
EA: Commentary, depth, realism.
2K: Course designer, graphics.
Career mode is to me a draw.
Interesting Tom, you might be one of the few to comment who thinks 2Ks graphics are better, I prefer the golfers and crowds on 2K!
I have to turn the commentary off in 2K23 because is it so bad. lol
I have never trusted EA since they turned the servers off for "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08"
EA isn't concerned with depth in games. Monetization is their main concern. They gave us a career mode but we don't even have a driving range to practice on.
There isn't really much monetization in this compared to FIFA etc
Look at the price of clothing and gear in the store... outrageous, ridiculously high.
The load times in 2k23 kill it for me
I dont remember the load times being too bad, but I'll check on it when I get it for pc
@@stgrimmy1692 I was on ps5 and it took 30 secs plus to load online menus and start the game
@@williamf9633 does seem oddly long 🤔
@@stgrimmy1692 very possibly an issue with my install it’s the only game I have load time issues with ea sports I find the spin more realistic as well it more like what I can do in real life
