Just seen that Jim ross' podcast gave this video a shout out. I've been watching your videos for a while and I am (and continue to be) a big fan so I'm glad to see you getting the credit your videos deserve.
@Turd Ferguson The presumed plan according to Bret, was Hogan vs Bret at Summer Slam 93, which Hogan was still out of his prime, since it was after WrestleMania 9. I do think Bret would have been able to pull it off for WrestleMania X, and it won't just be the match itself, but the anticipation for Hogan vs Bret, which would bring in the fans, since Hogan was a big draw. Hogan won the PWI wrestler of the year for 1994, and he re-invigorated a losing WCW in becoming competition to the WWF as well. It would be fitting for passing on the torch appropriately to Bret cleanly.
I was 7 when I watched Bret v Austin with my dad, he had backed Austin, and I went with the Hitman. I remember the turn and genuinely not knowing how to feel and looking at my dad as if to ask how should I be feeling right now. Great stuff.
Lmao I still remember how during that whole 97 run, I always rooted for Bret and always took his side. Even when he was clearly heeling and my friends were turning on him and siding with Stone Cold, my Hitman loyalty NEVER wavered lol
I just discovered your channel and watched this docu start to finish in one go. Thank you for a respectful, informative, well-researched and extremely interesting look at my all-time favourite wrestler! We didn't have access to WCW where I live and so I had absolutely no idea about Bret's involvement there after leaving WWE. I had assumed that had been the end for him. This was just so, so interesting. Thank you!
Love what you said about Bret's promo skills. It's true. From the time he kicked off his feud with Owen, he started delivering solid promos. Sure, he wasn't Austin, or Flair, or The Rock, but he was effective, like you said. What's more, he was believable. You could buy into the idea that he was actually speaking his mind, unlike the scripted pap that they deliver nowadays. I'd put the angry, heelish promo from RAW in early '97 after getting screwed out of the title ("FRUSTRATED ISN'T THE GOD DAMN WORD FOR IT!" - in front of the old blue cage) up there as one of the greatest promos of all time.
GREAT VIDEO! Please do more long form videos like this. The short form videos are great too but it was cool to watch how you kept connecting all the dots throughout Bret’s career.
Bret had great matches with everyone and had a different style in each match: Piper, Nash, Razor, Sid, Bulldog,Austin, Undertaker, HBK, Flair,Luger, DDP,Bam Bam Bigelow, Doink and Lawler.
Saying someone had a good/decent match with Hart is like saying a human breathes Hart could get a good match out of anybody, hell, he could have gotten a good match out of me an untrained wreslting fan if he would have had to
Thanks for this documentary. Bret was and still is my favorite wrestler who has provided memorable matches, some of which I've seen live. In my meeting him many times, he's proven to be a warm, genuine person who sincerely appreciates his fans. I remember seeing Bret after WM 13. He had this pleading look in his eyes as he squeezed my hand. I'd wondered if he was trying to tell me something but couldn't. His heel turn on the following night was probably just that--IMO he looked regretful. To me, the name Bret Hart is synonymous with legend.
As a staunch Hitman fan, I loved this whole video. But I must say, I've NEVER understood people criticizing Bret for his actions during the 96-97 years in WWE. How is it "crying" when a guy who's clearly being f**ked over at every given opportunity voices his frustration?? Not only that, he's involved w/ a company that clearly had no control over its top talent, as two of its biggest draws of the decade (Hulk Hogan & HBK) refused to do the right thing and drop the title to him. It's like telling someone who's been robbed out of money to "stop crying". No one in their right mind would say that.
@Telly Delucca I get that it was in storyline, but I'm old enough to remember that time, and what I was talking about was the fans' perception. Many of the fans really thought he had no reason to be reacting the way he was. Some of them still don't. Also, what you have to understand is that I'm not basing what I said about Hogan & HBK off of just what Bret said, even though history has shown that he's proven to be far more honest than either Hogan or HBK have. So to just believe Hogan's version of the events of his departure, that Vince agreed Hogan would drop the belt to Yokozuna instead of Bret is honestly ridiculous. Many people in the industry, outside of Bret, have corroborated his accusation that Hogan refused to job to Bret. Even Kevin Nash, who was tight w/ Hogan, has criticized Hogan for being unwilling to put most guys over. And HBK has a known track record of that, as Jim Cornette and others have verified that he told Bret to his face that he would never put him over. The fact is Vince himself has never been on the record about who's story is true between Hogan and Bret (at least that I've seen), and Bret had actually suggested to Vince that he would either drop the belt the next night after SS 97 on Raw, or that he'd even be willing to drop it to Austin before he left.
1:03:50 "..shockingly, it took Vince Russo to come over to start utilising the Hitman..". Why's that "shocking"? Vince Russo was the head writer of WWF during '98 in which his storylines were what made the WWF beat WCW. Bischoff, on the other hand, was just a politician with Ted Turner's wallet in his pocket.
Absolutely great work on the anthology of the career of Bret "The Hitman" Hart! Absolutely 7 out of 5 stars! In this modern era of wrestling, Wrestling Bios, you are leaving a very positive mark on the perception and identity of wrestling with quality work. This is absolutely excellent. . i feel in the long run Bret Hart was the right, as we are seeing now, where the direction of wrestling needs to be. Bret was my favorite wrestler growing up and you see Bret's style influenced Jericho, Benoit, Edge, Lance Storm, CM Punk and Even The Rock! . As for the WrestleMania 26 match, I think it was great within the context of the time. According to STW and other sources Bret Hart did have a Lloyds of London payout and legit concussion syndrome (which Bret and Lance Storm confirmed) which I feel WWE handled the whole situation with kid gloves. . You went All In on this bio which is why I think it was so great!
Bret clearly just wanted to wrestle. That was what he was good at, it’s what he wanted to do, he hated the twists and turns, the rollercoaster ride that is wrestling entertainment.

For a pretty messed up, but absolutely hilarious impression of Shawn, check out RVD's shoot on Kayfabe Commentaries!
@@christophersuswal9544 thank you never noticed that is funny
Just seen that Jim ross' podcast gave this video a shout out. I've been watching your videos for a while and I am (and continue to be) a big fan so I'm glad to see you getting the credit your videos deserve.
Bret is my hero along with Undertaker. What a champion..Such technical finesse...
Best Wrestling Bios vid ever? It's got my vote! Well done man! I'd love more of these long format vids...
WrestleMania X should have been Hogan vs Bret, with Hogan dropping the belt.
It turned out ok though.
@@nuckweise WMX was still great, due to Bret, HBK, Owen and Razor.
@Turd Ferguson half the top guys were old savage hogan warrior etc all were in their late 30s 40s Hogan was 43 years old when the nwo took off in 1996
That doesn't work for me BROTHER
Beautiful work. Absolutely beautiful.
This is my favourite channel on you tube love this content 👍
Yeah mine too and Behind The Titantron!!
Favorite wrestler of all time! Thank you!
Thank you!
The Hart vs Beniot Memorial match was absolutely fantastic
One of Bret's top matches was the Wrestlemania 13 match against Steve Austin. I consider it a classic.
Good ol JR just gave you a shout out for your bios. That will surely make the kid in you smile
I remember watching all of this as it happened. Really enjoy your videos. Nice to reminisce with you and all your insight.
The Hart Foundation, my favorite to this very day. My favorite single’s wrestler of all time, Bret “ The Hitman” Hart!!!
This is awesome thank you man.
The goat of Professional wrestling
Grandpa Goat..... The Fossil of professional wrestling
great channel, premium content
Saying someone had a good/decent match with Hart is like saying a human breathes
Hart could get a good match out of anybody, hell, he could have gotten a good match out of me an untrained wreslting fan if he would have had to
Yep. I've never seen anyone else have good matches with the likes of Papa Shango and Skinner.
Yay! This will be my Saturday thing 😊😊😊 my fav!!!
Bret Hart is the Best there is the Best there was and the Best there ever will be
This is awesome. This is manna from the gods for Bret Hart fans, of which I'm one of many.
the double face turn at WM 13 is one of the best moments in wwe history....IMO
Brilliant yet again...we’ll done Buddy ✌🏾💓
So much stuff happening between 93 and 97 for Bret. I forgot how much he was a part of the WWF back then. This video made so many memories flood back.
I've really enjoyed this video mate about Bret hart I think your video's are excellent always a must see
Bret Hart had it all.
Great Video Bret Hart was one of my favourite wrestlers
Bret vs Owen at WMX is my favorite match ever.
Brett Hart was the best..I was a fan who felt he was right to whine...i cheered when he stomped on Stone Cold after he passed out.
Well there goes my Saturday afternoon
This was great 👍🏼
Wrestling Bios Rocks
Seeing this 1 1/2 hr video has me drooling
This video is great! I really enjoy your content. It's comprehensive and very well done. Thanks!
You should do more of these longer videos mate, they are cool...
You create class content at the moment, keep up the food work dude
@Wrestling bios. Hell of a video. The excellence of execution!
Hogan, Triple H, and HBK really hated on Bret Hart bc of how talented he was.
Of course they did
I cant stand HBK or HHH. Not a Hogan fan but he did make wrestling popular in the 80s . Cant take that away.
So glad I found this...thanks wrestling bios..awesome channel 👏👏
YES, been waiting for this one, Bret in my opinion is the Greatest of All Time

Kudos for putting out another amazing video.... quality content.
Thank you for your hard work we truly appreciate it
Absolutely great work on the anthology of the career of Bret "The Hitman" Hart!
I got back into all this from the Bruce Prichard show. This was done really well and you can tell you were a fan.
Do one of these for Stone Cold Steve Austin
More suggestions : Andre, Bruno, cactus Jack, Brooklyn Brawler, Magnum TA, Dr. death, Bobo Brazil, billy Graham, pat robinson, buddy rogers, iron sheik, Pedro morales, etc... you’ve probably covered some already on this list. All I’m sayin is keep em coming. I really enjoy these bios
This Is Great,But It Should Also Include His Calgary And Japan Run Also
