He just loved his father and cared about him. Towards the end, though... Why did he and OP decide to move in with Carla? I get that they wanted to own a home, but they KNEW that Carla and MIL were bad people with few life skills! So while I don't think OP deserved to be treated as a housemaid.... They should've just paid rent, asked to temporarily live with a neighbor, set up a tent or something like that. You don't wanna open up a can of worms. OP and Liam made the mistake of putting all their eggs in one basket without any backup plan. And they paid the price for it.

CPS can then decide if the mother is going to actually do what she needs to do to get the kid back... if not they can and will terminate her rights, and put the kid up for adoption or leave it in the foster system... Having family care for the child makes it much easier for the parents to get the kids back if no family will take the kid in, or if they have to take the kid from family care it only gets much harder from there to get the kid back at all.
It doesn't actually put child up for adoption unless mother permanently loses parental rights .But, cps can put child into foster care if no family member takes guardianship. 😢

That's what they need to find out and this can be done in two ways: The first is that Karla can open up about who her son's father is, and the MIL or CPS can give the boy a DNA test. They should go to court to work it all out and I hope that the lawyers will surprise Karla by bringing in the father of her son so everyone can see who he is. I hope that everything gets patched up soon and that the woman telling her story and her husband will have their own kids soon.
