- Ahhh so I've been playing violin for five years and I finally decided to make a progress video. I'm really nervous to upload this because I never like playing in front of people, and now I'm basically throwing all these videos out into the big scary world of youtube aimlessly BUT I also wanted to do this so badly since these videos gave me so much motivation when I first started playing. So anyway beware of the horrible sounds that I make in here and thanks so much for watching 🌷

I am a violinist myself, and I think your progress is amazing, and I can sense lots of progress in the span of a few month! Like, vibrato at 3 MONTHS?! GENIUS!
I’ve just started playing the violin 2 days ago. This video has given me inspiration to keep going despite me sounding trash right now
This lady still sounds trash, and you will forever. Violin is not possible for adults.
I've started playing violin since the beginning of this YEAR 2024 i hope one day We play in the same concert. 🎉🎉🎉 If you like music you should believe in miracles.
@@ghadabrahem7328 Your teacher will be miraculously richer, that's all.
You’ll probably sound like trash for at least a year, and that’s normal. Don’t give up!
What’s the update
Vibrato AFTER 3 MONTHS!!!
GIRL IT TOOK ME 2 YEAR!!!!
YOUR AMAZING!!!!
You're doing very well I would say. The violin can be a very frustrating instrument to learn to play and it's easy to just think you're showing little to no improvement and just give up. As an adult who started on the violin in my forties I've experienced that frustration several times and given up several times too. I keep coming back to it because I love it when it's played well and keep thinking if I just keep practicing I will, all experience to the contrary, get better, Videos like yours inspire me to continue!
I teach violin and the progress you have made is very impressive. You have a lot of random aspects mastered that many beginners don't have. There's just a few things I would recommend fixing that would enhance your expression and help you relax, (like bow hand and a different shoulder rest) and I feel like your progress would explode! Regardless, you have a musical gift and your dedication is impressive!
I started playing in January of 2024 at the age of 30. I'm 10 months in currently and there is ZERO chance I can do vibrato yet. Maybe because I'm being fully traditionally taught with a teacher, but I'm just now only now at the end of Suzuki book 1. Hats off to you!!!! This is very inspirational! :)
Actually, we always learn more slowly with a teacher but more steadily. Teacher teaches us to play in a scientific way. For self-taught learner, they tend to be impatient and not dont wait to correct all the faults before learning new technique. That's why when they do something wrong, it's hard (or even impossible) to correct later.
your vibrato after 1 year is incredibly impressive, most learn that after 3 years but seeing you play flawlessly was amazing!!
flawlessly? Her playing is hopeless.
@@consumer614it's not that bad I think
Thank you for posting this! This is very very inspiring and I think it's incredible how you've progressed through the years. We all start somewhere!
Makayla, Thank you for being brave enough to learn the violin and to share your progress with us! It’s very inspiring! I adore your vibrato, it’s becoming very rich, also, I find that your tone did develop a lot!
Im an adult and picked up the violin 1 year and and a few months ago, I understand the difficult process.
You can be proud of yourself !
Aw thank you so much!! That really means a lot
Your progress toward a good sound was really impressive. As of now, you seem to have a good ear and know when you are playing things out of tune, which is really great! Right now, I think you are at a good spot to drastically improve if you get back to taking lessons. Like you know, you have a tendency to play out of time, rushing the fast notes while shortening the long notes--a metronome will really help with that. Especially with the faster notes--in a piece like "Schindler's LIst," the eighth notes should be really deliberately played because it is on the slower side. But you should know that it's totally okay to vary the timing, as long as it's deliberate. If a note sounds weird and out of the key signature, there's usually a reason. It's good to emphasize the "strange-sounding" notes, either with a changed dynamic or by lengthening it. A teacher will really help you dive into the music theory and take your playing to the next level.
Yes omg I completely agree that now would be a perfect time to take lessons - I want to so badly! With school it's been hard so I've had to put that on the back burner unfortunately :( my hope is to start lessons again once I have more time, though! And thank you so much
Wow i am 15 and been playing for 4 years and i still can't shift but i can do everything else 😅 i just struggle with shifting hopefully i can do it someday but wow you did so amazing! I have always loved this kinds of videos
Girl you rock!!
I am so glad you made this compilation! 💕
the comments you made about yourself omg shshsh you're too funny and hard on yourself girl.
Omg thank you. I don’t have footage of my from day 1 to about 1 year and forgot how it was in the beginning. Then I thought I never improved, but I clearly did. Thank you for reminding me.
I used to play the violin. I started playing when I was in 2nd grade, but quit when I started college and I never picked it back up again.
Your progress is amazing!
schindler's list sounded beautiful!
I loved watching your progress. I have been slowly learning the violin (and viola) for over 50 years. Improvement will always go in leaps and quiet times. Save your favourite pieces for the slow times. I have one suggestion: Try to use all the bow and focus on getting all the way to the heel. When I was taught that as a young man, my playing leapt forward.
Thank you so much!! I'll definitely try that :)
I gifted myself a Violin on my 40th birthday in April 2024 and learning since then. I hope I will be able to progress like you 😊
That's amazing!! Best of luck, I hope you love it!
Thanks! I am obsessed 😅
4 years and 4 months: Guitar solo face!
Thanks for the inspiration! I bought my student violin 3 days ago.
I really am impressed by your progress! It makes my journey less scary, though my playing now is a real Itchy & Scratchy Show! 🤣
wow, how much did/ do you practice ?
I started 2 years ago and know how hard but also satisfying it is to learn playing that besutiful instrument.
you really do a great job !
I am jealous .. !
🙂👋🏻🎻
Using 4th finger at 1st day and vibrato in 3rd month? That is amazing
aww proud of youuu🥰
AW THANK YOU 💕
Hey! Would you be able to do a video (or just write me a quick little note) about how you learned vibrato as an adult? I teach violin and I have such a hard time explaining/teaching it to adults but I love how yours turned out and the sound of it! Thanks :)
Aw thank you so much!! Honestly I can't really remember how I learned vibrato. I began self-teaching it to myself because it was before I got a teacher, and I think I often practiced a lot even when I didn't have my violin with me - like doing it on a pencil at school under my desk to practice the motion. I'm not sure if this is helpful and I wish I remembered more, I'm sorry!
Vibrato like that after 1 year?! WHAT?! Sorcery.
Wow! Your progress is amazing 😊 How did you learn vibrato so quickly? Was it self taught or from your teacher? Keep up the great work!
Wowwwww amazing👏🏻
I was recently watching adventures of sherlock holmes and I'm Falling in love with the violin،I love to learn it😅🥰I think The same thing happened to you...you're videos are always so inspiring 💙
Same!! Sherlock was the reason I wanted to start playing (if it wasn't obvious by the hat, the shirt, and the pieces during the video haha!) and thank you so much, I'm so glad that they're inspiring 💕
Wow the jump at 6 months is crazy, in a good way.
Thanks for sharing this amazing progress of yours. Your vibrato is very rich sounding and you are very good after five years!
Keep up the great work! ♡♡
Thank you so much!!
Wow❤
it sounds good keep it up👍👍
How old she was when she started?
Ty for sharing your violin journey. Your Progress has been Amazing! Great job Mackayla. 🤗 Makes me want to learn how to play violin. But I might start with piano. So far I know how to play French Horn.🎼🎶 Hi from Texas!
Wow that's so cool you play the French horn! I'd love to learn piano too, it's so beautiful 💕 also, thank you so much!
Сколько часов в день она занималась? Здорово получается =)
What violin you play?
Well done
I'm here to compare myself héhé, after a month!
Your progress is amazing!! Btw do u think that someone can play violin as their first instrument?
Anyone can play any instrument
I can't think of many violinists who didn't start with the violin.
Did you take classes?
Did you have a teacher or did you self teach?
She says at the beginning of the video :)
Nice relaxed vibrato! Maybe pay more attention to right hand bow distribution/pressure/contact point for an even more advanced sound.
You sound nice
hello. Very interesting . Is it possible? Its very motivating for me. thanks for posting.
Ling ling😂❤
The sound is excellent. I'd say your bow hold looks unrelaxed and the fingers are too separated. :)
Your progress will never be what you would like it to be. Violin playing is a journey, just be honest with yourself and realise you will never develop a professional sound or play concert pieces flawlessly. Violin playing involves unconscious reflexes that no adults can develop, too late. Just be aware of the moment you realise you don't have to dedicate your whole life to the violin, we only live once, pick another instrument e.g. piano or guitar and keep having fun.
I played the violin 20 years ago and you only spit shit, continue playing and you will see that if you can reach an excellent level
Absolutely true.
Ah yes, there's always at least one of you "I'm only being nice!" Toxic assholes in every video like this.
In the classical world maybe, but anyone can in theory be a professional violin (or fiddle if you prefer) player when you consider pop, folk, country. Not saying everyone should pursue a professional career in music (it's risky in terms of pay and it takes a lot of dedication), but there's nothing special about the instrument. It's also too late for most people over the age of 14 to be a professional classical pianist. If there's one thing I hate about violin it's the snobbery behind it. Play the instruments you love and don't assume everyone's goal is to be a soloist in an orchestra
@mitcherny6965 how do you know that? Everybody sounds horrible on the violin on the beginning and if she can learn this in 5 years, why could n't she improve further?
Your playing is hopeless anyway, it is not a waste of time? You cannot do shifts and have bad intonation, these things will stay.
Honestly, it's because of people like you that just don't seems to know how to not give their opinion in a good way that people don't have self confidence. What i'm saying is you can criticize, but do it properly, now you're just being an asshole
Lmao this guy is never gonna do anything in his life bc if its not perfect then whats the point
@@thatmanzuko529 I have done lots in my life. Being realistic helps. People who cannot underdtand natural limitations and deny reality will not achieve anything at all.
The bach gavotte sounded really intune and it is a difficult one
@@lareverie8285 Well, you too cannot hear.
I just found this video! You’re incredible! It was amazing to see your progress🤍
