      @@VFXTutors hello good lessons! I have a question for you, did you use the 18-35 sigma speed booster makes its own changes in the focal length how to specify the focal length corrected for the speed booster.?

    • @VFXTutors
      @VFXTutors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@serotanin-w4n Hey, thank you, glad you're enjoying them,
      I didn't use a speed booster on any of my shots.
      but you should be able to adjust for a speed booster, If you have a set scan or accurate geo to survey to you can easily adjust this in the parameter adjustments.
      you just need to adjust your focal length and distortion,
      you don't need set scans to do this, but it will make your adjustments more accurate
      hope that helps?

    Hi Josh. I'm somewhat of a newbie to 3DE4 and I don't understand what the purpose of this is. my experience so far is track your shot either Auto or Manual, solve for low error then import into your 3D model/animation is created using the tracking data. (to make it move through the scene), then compositing it into the scene. I don't understand why you would have a 3d model first, then import it into the scene, then line up the camera according to that. I realize this is probably a stupid question, so forgive my ignorance. I'm at a loss, please i need explanation i am curiosity, how you do that? i need to understand this if i must call myself a professional.

    • @Darkovius
      @Darkovius 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      One utility is that you can make 3D VFX interact with the environnement (smoke could go around objects for example. And since everything is matched, you could directly add the rendered smoke above the original footage).

    I noticed the sensor size you state is 21.12x11.88 mm which is a 1.778 aspect ratio, same as your footage. I am just curious how you came to get that sensor size because if I check the manufacture website it says 18.96x10mm. Just curious as I shot on a camera which has a sensor size that is not 1.778 aspect ratio, and if I input the size directly into 3de it changes the aspect ratio of the footage and looks wrong. Appreciate any advice!

Should I just input either the height or width of the sensor and have 3de maintain the aspect ratio? What do you normally do in this scenario? Thank you!

      @VFXTutors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hi, sorry about the late reply, messages were not showing up :( the reason for putting the model in first is that we are then tracking to a layout, this means the camera will work with everyone else that working on the shot. this is also what you will have to do if you work at a vfx company, learning to track and survey to geo is the most important thing to learn in matchmove.

      @@naalokam1432 oh you mean point weight,
      So select your point, then go to the point tab on the bottom right, in 3d calculation there is a static weight value, it’s default is 1 but that’s where you can increase/decrease point weights

    survey free means

    • @VFXTutors
      @VFXTutors  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      survey free means that you are letting 3dequalizer triangulate the tracking point in 3d, so it will figure out the depth from your solve.
      surveying is telling 3de that a 2d point is in an exact depth, this makes the camera solve more accurate

    One thing i dont understand is if you already have the focal lenght of the lens for the video you recorded, why dont you just add that info in the software instead of calculating the lens focal lenght with the software? I recorded a video with a 24-105mm lens and at 24mm, why should i calculate the focal lenght if I already know what it is.

    • @VFXTutors
      @VFXTutors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ivan Cueto you don’t need to calculate it if you know the focal length, I did it that way just to show people how to do it if they didn’t know it,
      but I it does help to do a calculation of the focal length even if you know it, as it may not be exactly 24mm depending on your focal distance, even if you calculate the focal length and it’s 24.3mm, it might improve your camera solve

      @@VFXTutors Oh, I realise my comment was a little stupid. I was working on a shot for a show and have been using 3de for about a week, so I'm not experienced with it. I aligned the supplied geo and tracked, but the solve then placed the geo somewhere else entirely. So the solve isn't accurate, and I don't quite understand this process yet. But I'll get there. I did use your tutorials to solve a pretty impossible shot. Thank you.

    Excellent tutorial, gained valuable knowledge. Unfortunately, ple lacks lens calculation , so that aspect needs to be omitted, making it somewhat limited.
