Genocidal war against the other nations didn’t stop after he and the Tyburs sabotaged the Eldian Empire, it just switched to the Marleyan Empire, which was abusing Eldians and their titan powers, making the world hate them even more. If Fritz wanted to make amends for his crimes and the crimes of his ancestors he should’ve gone with Zeke’s idea in the first place, his purpose was simply to punish his own people’s future generations for crimes they didn’t commit(also having all the Eldians on Paradis never know what they’re being punished for). Karl Fritz was the most evil of all Eldian Kings.

There is a healthy balance to it. You obviously don't want to take Japan's route of denying any of the warcrimes they committed in China. Even to the present day. Since people won't forgive until they ask for it. But I agree, for nations that have made an honest effort to atone, future generations shouldn't feel guilty. But memes on WWII will never die. You can hear Erens blood boiling in this scene. In my opinion Eren and Grisha did everyone in the walls a favor by killing her and taking the power of the founder. The philosophy and thinking of the reiss family is insane. Because of all the shit that went down in history even in the great titan war, they believe the sins of eldia could never be repaid. That type of thinking is dangerous and is connected to real world shit. Some people believe because of the horrible shit their ancestors did in the past they think they should be punished for their sins as well. That is insane. And that's why he knows Eren is there because he is watching himself through Eren's eyes. - To make it simpler: Grisha - Future Eren's Memories (through Current Eren's eyes) - and then back to Grisha - Grisha saw FUTURE Eren's memories which is the CURRENT Eren watching his fathers memories. Eren kissing historia's hand: - Eren basically saw FUTURE Eren's plan through Grisha's Memories. Basically Grisha saw FUTURE Eren's plan and since CURRENT Eren can access Grisha's memories seeing the FUTURE Eren's plan, then he could basically see the future. - To make it simpler: Grisha saw FUTURE Eren's Memories - CURRENT/PAST Eren (When he kissed Historia) saw Grisha seeing FUTURE Eren's Memories. It’s sad that Frieda was trying to fight the Vow Renouncing War until the Founder’s power activated and her whole demeanor changed. I never noticed that in the manga
"I really may have said that our people of paradis should suffer for their sins, but the truth is that I never wanted that to happen to them, I wanted to help them, because in fact they don't know what is happening. I never wanted this for anyone." Frieda Reiss
It’s a beautiful parallel. A titan shifter who’s blessed/cursed with the knowledge of the past and is a slave to the will of her predecessor, confronted by a titan shifter who’s blessed/cursed with the knowledge of the future and is a slave to the will of his successor.
call me a yeagerist but i think this is completely justified from Eren… Freida and the Reiss family had been completely brainwashed (we can see this when Freida’s eyes suddenly change and she becomes robot-like) and Eren is completely aware of this. This wasn’t an act of violent savagery from Eren, this was calculated and a fight for the freedom of his people. The Reiss family would have gladly let all Eldians be massacred by Marleyans due to the fault of Eldian’s from hundreds of years ago who no one even knew?? Imagine if IRL we massacred people due to the mistakes (no matter how horrible) of our ancestors that we never have even met. Eren is not a villain in my eyes… he’s just a tragic protagonist.
Quite literally all of the members of the Reiss family wanted the founder to take down the titans. The only problem was the founder himself and herself. For the longest time, Eren was under the assumption that Grisha killed the founder at the literal worst time that is when the Colossal titan attacked which prevented the founder from protecting the walls and thus saving her people. This was why he felt guilty for what Grisha did along with the fact that he slaughtered children (something incomprehensible to pre-Historia hand kissing Eren). But then, Eren saw the truth. Even while being forced to confront the situation which required mitigation of and control over the titans to simply go outside the walls and fix the walls again, Karl Fritz avoided doing anything and only used this unfortunate incident as an excuse for Eldians to finally suffer for the sins of their ancestors.
Love how Zeke looks to Eren and is in awe at how much anger resides in Eren because of the king's ideology to just lay down and die because it's to repent their "sin". Even Grisha can feel how much anger Eren is letting out. It gives me the chills everytime I read it in the manga.
His rage wasn't at Frieda, but at Fritz. Fritz damned them all to death, and had the nerve, the fucking gall to force them to wax political about? To force his people to wrongly believe that they should be slaughtered for the sins of a past over 2000 years ago? Yeah, I'd be fucking enraged too.
Fritz talks about how they must not run from their sins and pay, but when he renounced war, he didn't offer himself to be punished. He escaped to the island and used the rumbling as a bluff to be able to live the rest of his days in peace. He sacrificed future innocent generations to feel good about himself, without being willing to sacrifice himself for his supposed ideals. Of course Eren was furious.
1:08 When you realized that this is the sound you hear when your blood is gushing to your head when you are extremely angry. This is the sound of Eren's blood boiling. We are in Eren's shoes.
"I really may have said that our people of paradis should suffer for their sins, but the truth is that I never wanted that to happen to them, I wanted to help them, because in fact they don't know what is happening. I never wanted this for anyone." Frieda Reiss
You guys gotta understand, the thing that makes this scene special, is the fact Eren has seen it before. He has witnessed the words once, yet they still anger him like he's hearing such nonsense for the first time.
Although I never agreed with Eren's choices, I understand why he got so mad here. Eren just saw someone claim that the entire Eldian population should perish just because of their ancestors mistakes. A population of people that have never committed the atrocities that their ancestors committed. Apparently according to this woman, we should all atone for someone else's mistakes. This is basically the equivalent of some woke white woman saying that all white people should die because of the atrocities their ancestors committed.
It's not Frieda's real opinion but she just says what the curse of the king forces her to say. Look at her purple eyes. Notice she was visibly struggling before she responded. This is not her free will.
Eren could never accept the fact that only eldians should die as Frieda stated, while the rest of the world lives suggesting that eldian's life were of less importance than them I think that's why he got so angry.
"I really may have said that our people of paradis should suffer for their sins, but the truth is that I never wanted that to happen to them, I wanted to help them, because in fact they don't know what is happening. I never wanted this for anyone." Frieda Reiss
Turned 360 means he is facing the same way as before. And you're accidentally right. Not wanting to die like in the ending is the same reason as why he was angry here.
That's not Frida that's just king Fritz talking through her. Frida was a completly different girl before she became queen and ate her uncle, just like her uncle was a different boy before he ate his father. It seems the mental power of king Fritz was a lot to handle for his progeny.
Imagine realizing that because of some coward king your whole nation is forced to accept annihilation... wouldn't you want to stand against it? The biggest enemy of this whole series is not a person but the Titan power in itself. Humans are just flawed and shitty in general but when they get incredible power in their hands, this is where real hell starts to happen.
@@erenyeager6668 He is a coward alright. Even if its true that the Titan civilisation massacered and misused their powers to end people, his decision was legit half assed and completely hypocritic. The king himself wanted to atone to what his own ancestors did and to stop that from happening he enclosed his people and took away everyones memories to live a world called paradise. How did that help? Years later soldiers and people were in a risk of getting eaten by titans just to get close to the truth the king wanted to keep away from them. It didnt help. Rather his actions escalated and fed more hatred to the other countries who were still not at peace with Eldia even existing. If the king genuinely wanted to atone for his sins he would just killed himself and took his entire nation down with him to end the cycle of hatred. But he didnt. He had no courage to do that. He is a coward for fleeing and leaving his people behind in other nations. He is a hypocrite for making the present Eldians pay for the mistakes which only their ancestors did. No child deserves to be punished for the sins of any parent at all.

To people wondering how Eren made contact with Grisha:
- Grisha basically saw FUTURE Eren's memories (which is the Eren we will see later on in the series) through CURRENT Eren's eyes (which is the Eren in this episode watching Grisha's memories)
- Basically Grisha saw himself through CURRENT Eren's POV/Eyes that's why he could tell Zeke was there because Eren could see Zeke. And that's why he knows Eren is there because he is watching himself through Eren's eyes.
- To make it simpler: Grisha - Future Eren's Memories (through Current Eren's eyes) - and then back to Grisha
- Grisha saw FUTURE Eren's memories which is the CURRENT Eren watching his fathers memories.
Eren kissing historia's hand:
- Eren basically saw FUTURE Eren's plan through Grisha's Memories.
It's a litte bit confusing but all in all they basically just see each others memories seeing each others memories

1:22 Their position represents the time
Zeke: past
Grisha: now
Eren: future
It’s a beautiful parallel.
A titan shifter who’s blessed/cursed with the knowledge of the past and is a slave to the will of her predecessor, confronted by a titan shifter who’s blessed/cursed with the knowledge of the future and is a slave to the will of his successor.
0:55 the moment eren realized what he had to do and that he had already seen himself do it
call me a yeagerist but i think this is completely justified from Eren… Freida and the Reiss family had been completely brainwashed (we can see this when Freida’s eyes suddenly change and she becomes robot-like) and Eren is completely aware of this.

😂
Sameee
Imagine realizing that because of some coward king your whole nation is forced to accept annihilation... wouldn't you want to stand against it?
The biggest enemy of this whole series is not a person but the Titan power in itself. Humans are just flawed and shitty in general but when they get incredible power in their hands, this is where real hell starts to happen.
Right
wouldnt really call him a coward. eldians were bloodthirsty back then
@@erenyeager6668 and non Eldians aren’t?
And thus, a monster like Eren was born.
The King isn't a coward but a staunch Pacifist and believer in "Sins of the Father".

You are kinda argeeing with First King controlled Frieda here.
Notice how her eyes are blue when she listens to Grisha, but they turn purple, as if the king is actually still controlling the royal family
