Glad to hear that your heart issues have been resolved?
I was diagnosed in 2006 with LQT syndrome and had to be fitted with a ICD. Then in 2013 I took up triathlon. My doctors have allowed me to do this.
I find this channel very motivating

Been there…after all the same tests and six months of drugs and keeping my heart rate low and no change in my hr patterns…I went to the Mayo Sport Cardiologists. They ran test and looked at my results. Said I have an athletic heart from years of training, told me to get off the drugs and get back to training. It turns out as you found out…the cardiologists view everyone thru the average citizen lens and athletic heart resembles a diseased heart…I was glad to have the testing done and get a real understanding of my state of heart and I am sure you are also….thanks for the update!

Thanks for your openess. You are both very inspiring. Thanks for giving us a glimpse of the personal struggles that go along with the training, we are made of flesh and bones not titanium! I don't know if you guys have any religious beliefs but for what it's worth, I believe professionals in your rank should make sure to take 1 full day rest every week. There is a supernatural blessing that comes with remembering the sabbath and keeping it holy!

Mark Allen not long ago released an interesting video where he talks about the current generation trainig too hard and especially doing too many LD races, destroying their bodies.
Dave Scott made 12 LDs only (won Kona 6x) and even he has heart damage.
I am quite convinced the norwegian (which i like a lot) won't get too old.
I know everyone wants success but please be careful - professional sports is great but in the end a short time of your life and hopefully much more to come afterwards.
Please take care Reece & Lucy! All the best.

Yeah I'm also a former athlete with heart problem since 2017 and since then I never heard of anyone else in my surroundings having problems with the heart too. This changed 2021, suddenly a lot of people I knew seemed to get heart problems like arrhythmias and myocarditis. More than 10 people in my surroundings within a very short period. All got treated in hospital and doctors didn't really have a clue why that happened.

Hi Reece, glad to hear you’re fit and back firing on all cylinders. Like several others in the comments, I’ve been through a very similar series of tests, so I can empathise to some extent with your ordeal (though as a recreational triathlete I won’t pretend to have had nearly as much at stake as you). I got a treadmill ramp test rather than the 45° bike table test however. Just had a follow-up MRI after 48 months so keeping fingers crossed all still ok. Best of luck with your upcoming races.

First I'm glad to hear that the heart is good. Also, I don't know you or Lucy but you seem to be in a good place. I mean the two of you who care so much about each other, I wish you all the best. However, I would much rather stare at any part of Lucy over listening to you :P I was just watching videos and I tuned in to see Lucy win a race after recovering from her injury. That video won my soul and I have to say watching a race to see how everyone does is one thing but watching a race with the desire for Lucy to win is so much harder on my soul. I can imagine that sometimes the effort is needed to be positive for your fans and things when you really want to say so many other things. OK, maybe that is just me, sorry if I am projecting. You all have fun and win some races and stay healthy and be happy.

Good to see you've had the all-clear. I went through something very similar a couple of years ago when a locum GP spotted signs of an Enlarged heart but like you it was because of the training but it is very worrying at first. I have a low heart rate and the day before one of the scans I cycled at 200w for an hour on the turbo with an av hr of 98bpm. In the waiting room before the scan, sitting down I was 101bpm!!
See you in Fishguard and Swansea!

Blimey Reece, must have been a worrying time.. especially on top of Lucy's injury. I guess in a way it's good you are both at the stage of recovery together, one watching the other hitting every training session would be disheartening. I'm under a cardiologist for a similar issue, although I'm 45 and terrible at sport!
Great news about IM Wales and Swansea, looks like the pro field at Swansea is going to be stacked, I'm looking forward to sharing the course with you. ATB

    Hey Reece,
Hi from Costa Rica! Happy to see you and Lucy are bouncing back.
Wondering if you and/or Lucy use any specific fitness log Notebook when doing your gym and training sessions or just and old good regular notebook?
Saw you using one at minute 5:50 on this video and got me thinking how to do your track your training sessions and how you use your data over time?
    Cheers!
