Your tiny home reminded me the ones used by the 2011 tsunami survivors, there were even small temporary villages of these tiny homes. Very few of them remained after the affected areas were rebuilt.
Yep, in the intro when Cash says he would explain why these homes were being built, I immediately assumed it was going to be for natural disaster survivors, just like the hundreds of tiny homes that were built after the tsunami.

these little houses are so cool. love seeing these types of buildings. Japanese people have some excellent design ideas . you don't need a fancy big area you just need something practical to live in .
I had to like the video three times. Firstly because it takes place in Japan, once because you can't help but value properties even when you're on vacation, and once because your family supports you as a real estate agent.
Hopefully, these homes will become popular here in the US, where housing costs are out of control. This could be instrumental in solving the housing crisis so many are facing. As a senior on a gixed income, I would definitely consider this affordable option.

Or we could enforce price controls and regulate the hell out of greedy companies that are making a fortune on real estate. Both the property side and builder side.
@Jose_hernandez970 that would require the politicians to form a committee that will then spend the next 3 years and a million dollars having meetings to discuss the problem. Then, as usual, they will do nothing.
Japan is all about efficiency and great use of space. When I went to Tokyo, I even saw a homeless man who created a well designed hut from plywood. It was organized, clean, and even had a small shoe rack area outside his front entrance!
These are like shipping containers and should be easy to transport on cargo ships. Lahaina survivors need some of these tiny houses right now. Maybe some Japanese billionaires could donate some of these houses. Wouldn't that be lovely?
Could be an option at some point but this can't happen immediately ... EXTREMELY expensive to ship these to the Island and it will take many days/weeks. All my LOVE to my Ohana and the Aina 🤙🏽❣
@@sexiredjeep USAF C4 cargo airplanes could airlift these from an airport in Japan to Hickam AFB on Oahu in less than a day -- if the governments of Japan and the US wanted to do a humanitarian mission for the people on Maui. My son just returned from a trip to Japan with friends. One person left their passport in a hotel, two people left backpacks (w/ passport and $) behind, one on a train, one in an arcade, and one left their cellphone in a public bathroom. They all went back within a 20 mins (walking time backtracking), except the train which had left and the hotel which was an hour away by train. They all got everything back with nothing missing. The Japanese get a huge A+ for honesty, hospitality and kindness. The train personnel called ahead and had the backpack taken off an hour away instead of two hours at the final destination. Extremely rare to find that kind of assistance here in the West.
One of the common features I've always loved about Japanese bathrooms is how the toilet and bath are in separate rooms, so no stinking the room up when someone is relaxing in the bath. And the fact they kept that feature in one of these particularly tiny, tiny houses. Love it.
Yes, RainmakeR_Workshop, that just jakes sense. The British also traditionally separated bathing from excreting. A "bathroom" in Britain means a room with a bathtub, a "toilet" means a room with a toilet. The Japanese take it two steps further, by allowing one to wash outside the already filled tub, then soak that freshly washed body in clean hot water. Step two, the tubs are deep enough to soak, sitting upright, up to the shoulders at least. Some of the modern Japanese prefab "unit baths" do not have the sepatate drain for washing, and may also contain the toilet and bath in the same room, yuck. We can get Japanese style ofuro baths in the US, but here they are super expensive and require a lot of room.
@@Xubuntu47 I am British mate. And we do often have a separate second toilet. But having your one and only toilet in a separate room from the bath isn't common at all.
@@RainMakeR_Workshop I see, so they are only separate if you have an extra one. That's what we call a "half-bath", even though there is no bath. I was doing research on wet rooms-a bathroom where the whole room is waterproof, with a drain on the floor; basically the whole room is a shower. That's how a lot of Japanese bathrooms are set up. Makes it easier to wash, then soak. Also safer for the elderly or disabled because there's nothing to climb over to shower. Most of the hits were in the UK, almost nothing Stateside. I guess wet rooms are a thing there.
@@Xubuntu47 Well, I'm sure ones with a single toilet that is separate from the bath exist over here. They're just not common. And yeah, wet rooms are fairly popular here, as you said, especially with older people. But also disabled people too. Though some have them just for the convenience.
The house is small but it’s bigger than 48 square foot. Looks about 120 square foot. Still small. My wife and I recently sold our Florida home (2500 sqft) and turned a 450 square foot detached garage into a 1 bedroom apt on our daughters property (approximately 2acres). The conversion cost about 30k but now we are debt free and rent free and live about 75 ft away from our grandkids. Sold all of our accumulated junk and paid off everything. Life is perfect.
@@loisaustin6200 Thank you. You wouldn’t believe the amount of people who say the same thing and are envious of new living situation. I agree the square foot math must have been converted incorrectly from meters or something. Congratulations on your wonderful, cost saving living arrangement!!
A good solution for areas were a disaster happened and temporary housing is in need. For cramped cities the micro apartment movement might be a better solution. We had an investor building a bigger housing complex (360 units) with multiple micro apartments - 17, 20 or 23 square meter in size (comes with kitchenette, build in closet, bathroom, table, chairs, bed, seats) free community area, gym, shared work space and they were rented out in no time. A bit pricey but not as expensive as the usual apartments.

Two generations living in the same house can be very taxing because as we age people tend to get more bossy and controlling due to losing control over their lives when they start needing help. The loss of privacy is hard for everyone. One guy I worked with who is a carpenter modified his home so that his parents had a beautiful ground level apartment. It was gorgeous and each generation had their own space.
Violet is wanting to start her own channel!!; ❤😂 Cute little place. One person only of course! Nice to see what everything costs over there. Have a great time with the family! ❤❤❤❤
These are so versatile and cosy. A single person with a "simple life" in mind could thrive in a small home like this. Here in Sweden we are now allowed to build "Attefallshus" (Attefall House) with I THINK little or no planning but they are bound by 30 square meters in size. You can cram a lot into that! Many people build them in their backyard or side driveway and rent them out to people or run them as a AirBnB.
Every bit of space is utilized in these small houses. And, unlike NYC apts. when you open the appliance doors, they don't bang into something on the opposite side of the room...lol. Nice looking out into nature instead of a building airshaft. Cash, your videos are the greatest !! And, of course Violet looks as adorable as always, she is growing up to be quite the little lady, so sweet.
I think people are slowly learning that massive square footage is unnecessary. This kind of place is useful for house challenged folks, and for minimalists, it also helps a body spend more time outside. 😁
I'm not a "tiny house" fan since I'm a bigger guy....but stuff like this could change my mind. For now, I'll stick with my current place. Cool video Cash!
Those are pretty nice and I can see the potential uses for Japan. Since you build from the ground up, this could be used as a temp situation while your house is being built. And after, you can use it as guest qauters or as an inlaw suite. And in the US, you can use it as income generaters.

Wonderful places. I grew up in a rather large house, additions made over the years by preceding generations of my family, and now that I'm in the no-longer-young category and have arthritis and some heart trouble that family house would be far too much for me. One of these Japanese tiny homes would be great for me. I think I and many others would be able to live alone for longer times and with less need for assistance. One change I would need is a bed that's at a "regular" Western height because of the difficulty gettting to a standing position from at or near floor level. I'm going to be looking at my studio apartment in a different way.
The daughter is such a pretty little girl and so adorable! The tiny house can be practical for those who like nature but don’t want to use a tent when camping .

I'd get claustrophobia living in that tiny space. It would be okay for a holiday or short stay but I don't think I'd want to live there long term. It's a great option for elderly people and housing for the unhoused but I think most people would want to live in a bigger place.

@lamoinette23 1.4% + (0.2 to 0.4%, depends on area). Just because you buy them for 5000, it does mean, your property worth only $5000 when come to tax time
becuase apprently unlike america which sees them as way to get more $$$ and make and invest $$$ japan sees it as a way to spend ¥¥¥ and NOT make more ¥¥¥ dirrectly off it but use it and let it rot like other products and move on to antoher (im assuming this socity would atleast be in part to the constant earthquakes where things are destoyed) so they make them temp, and apprently even ANCIENT temples in japan are TORN DOWN and REBUILT exactly AS WAS. altho im from USoA so only useing intell i have from USoA.
This is the second tiny space that is so much better than the garbage in NY. They come with a kitchen and bathroom. Other cities could learn a lot from Japan.

I am so loving these Japan videos! Showing how other countries can live without killing yourself with rent. Great job Cash 😊 When I moved to Indianapolis 6 years ago I wasn't sure where I wanted to live. I bought a mobile home for 8K. 3 bedroom/1 bath and I fixed her up. I redid the kitchen and bathroom. Updated roof and landscape. Put in new hot water heater and updated central airTotal cost $12k. Lived there 2 years and sold it for 12k. Rent free living! 😊
Hey, I'm Japanese and have been watching this channel for some months now (mainly the ones about how New York has declined), but had no idea Cash was married to a Japanese lady, and was already in Japan :)
Maui victims really need these tiny house asap so they can put these tiny house on their land so they can get back on their feet, keep working and save enough money to rebuild their houses. This is probably the quickest way for temporary solution so they keep those disgusting investors from to grab the native’s land for dirt cheap! It’s just my thought.
Excellent idea 💡
3:04 kid is soo adorable.I was so invested in her throughout the video.
these little houses are so cool. love seeing these types of buildings.
You will own nothing and be happy. You’ll receive your universal basic income check to your cbdc account if you keep your social credit score high. By not criticizing the election, love abortions, and getting the 8th sterilization and myocarditis boostie. Extra esg points if you turn trans like bud light. Progressive af!
Maybe I didn't look hard enough, but I couldn't find any homeless when I visited Japan!
These are like shipping containers and should be easy to transport on cargo ships. Lahaina survivors need some of these tiny houses right now. Maybe some Japanese billionaires could donate some of these houses. Wouldn't that be lovely?
Great idea! Hope it happens.
Ship transport from Oahu to Maui would take longer but could be speed up if the Hawaii government, Matson, etc. wanted to make it happen.
Why should Japanese millionaires do that? Wouldn’t US millionaires be the more logical solution?
maybe because so many are Japanese Americans?@@claudiakarl7888
Tiny homes would be nice for places where it's impossible to buy a house nowadays. High demand.
Although I love seeing Cash on a daily basis, it is really neat to see the Mrs. and little one. Violet is a camera ham!
Very smart move.
@@loisaustin6200 Thank you. You wouldn’t believe the amount of people who say the same thing and are envious of new living situation. Parting with your life time of accumulated junk is much more difficult than people want to admit. We had separation anxiety of getting rid of stuff that had been in the attic for 15 years. Unused, unloved, and unwanted but still didn’t want to throw away🙄
Wow. So lucky.
Soooooo love this video lovely to see your family and such a cute little girl so sweet God bless
I picture this is what Green & co has in mind for the displaced Lahaina residents. Rex 85 ….

Dude, I'm fairly new here, having only discovered your channel over the weekend. Been enjoying going back over your content and I have to say, I'm not just impressed by the quality of your videos, the editing and presentation etc, but also your work ethic; for the quality of what you're uploading and the speed of your uploads, you are really on the grind, man! A lot of TH-camrs could take some inspiration from you.
Nice work, bud.
Awesome, thank you!
Violet is wanting to start her own channel!!; ❤😂
Cute little place.
And, of course Violet looks as adorable as always, she is growing up to be quite the little lady, so sweet.
love is so beautiful that house is a doll house for Violet
It's much better than any NY tiny apartment. You don't have to share bathrooms, I love it. I could definitely live there.
These tiny homes are really awesome for one person or a couple. In addition, I love the chair that converts to a bed. The price is also reasonable.
Love seeing how other countries live and navigate housing. Thank you!
Great tiny homes!! Excellent prices too!!
Love your family. Your daughter is beautiful and very sweet.
Hi diane where are you from?

The usual issue for housing is not the construction costs but the land value that unfortunately these houses don't solve
I think In country side land is cheap
@@WANDERER0070 yes, but I was not speaking about the specific house shown I was making a consideration on Jordan's opinion. This kind of building will not solve the issue of housing pricing. Then, yes, you are probably right: that land probably is not expensive

i hope small homes become more popular. being minimalist is quite easy and makes life simpler..
In a tiny space it's necessary to have adequate storage for clothes. These places have a good amount for a single person. Bins could go on the shelves for a dresser. It's better than being homeless.
The first one is perfect for students, seasonal workers, single people away from home for work, solo vacations etc, I wish we could have these in the U.K, ty for showing us these tiny homes!
Cash- That was absolutely fantastic! Please thank your wife and adorable daughter and the builder. What a great vision of housing for single or small families in Japan and soon ( If we know you 😃) in the USA!

I like the idea a lot, to say nothing of your wonderful family! Violet reminds of you - the same cheeky sense of humour
I'd get claustrophobia living in that tiny space. It would be okay for a holiday or short stay but I don't think I'd want to live there long term. It's a great option for elderly people and housing for the unhoused but I think most people would want to live in a bigger place.
I'm really enjoying your videos, Cash! My mother was Japanese, and my dad was a Scots-Irish American. The external curtain rod is for drying clothes I think.

$31,000 is really good. You'd have additional costs for redoing the interior and adding solar, but it's really nice.
The American government should have about 100,000 of these mothballed just for disaster relief
FEMA had trailers available for people after hurricane Katrina, as I recall. I wonder what happened to all of these?
Thier supposed to. They've been issued before. And honestly...I thought the Model in the US was better. BUt if there sitting brand new in a field deteriorating...waiting for years for some reason to be issued... there useless to American citizens.

Otherwise, I'm very interested in videos like this. I was one of those upper west side kids, growing up on 97th and west end in a 2,000 sq ft 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath apartments with a private elevator in a doorman building. Now I am living in what new Yorkers call upstate (Dutchess county) and working on building what may end up being a 48 sq ft tiny house style trailer for 2-3 people to live in part time.
in america you have to own land to put up one of these tiny homes with water and electrical hookups so these are no good in america, the same goes for trailer homes, best to buy land and buy a motor homes so you can drive it off your land for a short period so city cant hassel you..
