Good morning sir. I have not commented in a while and that's because I've been watching your videos on the big screen ( the only way to watch your videos 😂🤣) . Just wanted to thank you for all the videos in 2024 and looking forward to your 2025 updates. Wishing you and your family the best of health and prosperity in 2025 and beyond. Thanks again and be well.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. Hope you enjoy watching the SC on the big screen. I am trying to publish more content in 4K video now for better quality. Have a happy new year too!
Thanks for making and sharing this video, Tim. Awesome video, as always. I never stop getting ideas from your videos and look forward to a new one every week. Take care of that head cold!
I enjoyed the update, Tim. Everything is looking great. The heavy weathering on the Gulf & Ship Island grain hoppers turned out very nice as did the patched-out former BNSF grain hoppers. Your weathering abilities are excellent. Thank you! Mike
I've a bit to catch up upon, it appears! Love the sound, of course, especially the effect you demonstrated up the helix grade. No sound in the Trackmobile??? I am kidding, I promise lol... Love the Trackmobile. The greaser turned out well. You've captured the heavy undergrowth of the South so well. One can almost "hear" the kudzoo growing lol... Seriously, though, so much of the materials I see today weren't available long ago, back when we were still using lichen for trees along with ground foam. Your scenery, weathering and rolling stock always look outstanding. It's always a pleasure stopping in and seeing your latest progress. Happy New Year!
Nice update Tim. One thing I do to my static grasss and tuft scenery is to “near dry brush” color with a small artist brush and diluted acrylic paints. I ever so lightly hit the tops of the grass/tufts with the bush in a circular motion. Very effective technique that provides total color flexibility. Hope you feel better and have a good week. Scott
Robert Riley owns the G&SI at Gulfport, MS. Chris has a fine line of cars at home shops, too! And those grain hoppers are stellar. We do a lot of soybean and corn with Sanderson farms and Tyson and man I stepped in a pile of it once and that was a wrap. My engineer said “did you step in s***?”🤣🤣🤣 it was hard to get off too.
Hi Tim, Happy New Year and thanks for this Layout Update to kick things off. I liked the Foliage at the Bridge and also, the Weathering on the Hopper Cars. I've always wondered why Grain Hoppers have black staining down their Sides - now I know.
in the intro when we were riding around the corner after cresting the helix we went under that overpass and I remember thinking "where in the heck are we?? This looks great I can't wait to hear about it!" and then we rounded the corner and the cement plant was there. I'm typing this at 8m 39s into the video as you just start to explain the new section
I like your videos. Thank you for sharing. Just got an airbrush and plan to play/practice this month. Your weathered cars look great. Not sure I am ready to try on locomotives. But I will practice on cheap cars I picked up at a local train show.
Great railroad, great modeling, great video ... Tom Klimoski told me about your railroad when I visited him in December ... he was right! One question: is that a cement facility @ Ragland, Alabama? Many thanks and best wishes. Jim Talbott Canton, MI
I really like the ground-level first few seconds of the video. If a person just catches a glimpse, they'd think it was a shot of a 12" to the Foot scale railroad. 😁
Even though I've unfortunatly lost interest in Model Railways, as I don't have time for them anymore, I really appreciate the work people put into this beautiful hobby. I love this layout, the details make it really whole. Keep up the great work, and have a nice 2025!
I use to work on those greasers and the bars for a gauge face greaser would be mounted on the inside edge of the rail. The bars you modeled are for the TOR (top of rail) Friction Modifier Lubricators. That isn’t a grease but a lubricant that eliminates the natural friction between the wheels and the rail
happy new year tim... nice update (hope you had the main holidays off... i live near a UP mainline and saw some of their trains on christmas eve and christmas day... and UP has that AWFUL attendance policy where if you mark off on a holiday they make you walk the plank).... but i digress... the overpass looks really nice, especially with all the tress and foliage around it... but honestly tim i don't see how you do it... you work for a real railroad and yet you find the time, energy and enthusiasm to complete a model railroad... i worked for the chicago and northwestern and the UP back in the 90s... i did dabble in the hobby here and there while i was real railroading... but the BIGGEST hurdle for me was the enthusiasm part... after looking at those REAL boxcars all day at work, i couldn't stomach even one minute looking at a miniature one at home LOL... so i applaud you for hanging in there and staying MOTIVATED
Thanks! I am number four on the engineer’s roster for my seniority district so that allows me to stand for a lot of different jobs. We bid on jobs every week so if I want to change to a train with a different schedule I can. I don’t care for the mainline runs so I stick to the daylight road switchers with either Saturday-Sunday or Sunday-Monday off days. Work is work. It’s not bad but the commute home can be dealing with Atlanta traffic. My hobby is my escape and that is the way I look at it. If I am away from the layout I start having withdrawals because I find it relaxing and rewarding. I have four more years on the prototype and then I’ll be full time Seaboard Central! Can’t wait!
Thanks! I’ll add some scenery around the bottom but my plans are to leave it open. My grandkids love seeing the trains spiral up and down it. And I do too! :)
The foliage looks great near the bridge, color and texture gives it some depth to it. Is it expensive to have someone do the weathering on your cars? Just looks awesome as well as your own!
Thanks! Weathering varies on how much time is spent on the cars so something simple might be around $40 where something extravagant with graffiti and a lot of rust weathering can be up to $120. It really depends because you are paying someone who is investing a lot of time into it and I look at it just like buying a painting. It is someone’s art work. I enjoy looking at the pieces myself the same way someone would viewing original art pieces.
Thanks! No, I plan on keeping it open for the most part. My grandkids love seeing the trains spiral up and down it and I think it is cool to see as well.
Not on SC units. I model the year 2015 and PTC wasn’t mandated on the class 1 lines until 2016 so I have a couple of NS units with it since it was new.

Thanks! I appreciate it.
Nicely done,,great design and details,,thanks for sharing,,😊
Thanks for watching!

Great looking shrubs and trees by your overpass!
Thanks!

Thanks Mike!
Amazing work, your scenery looks really stunning 👍
Thank you so much! Glad you like it.

Thanks! That’s a great idea.
@@SeaboardCentral. You’re welcome. It’s amazing how quickly and easily you can make an impact in a very large area in a very short time.
Another nice update, Tim, thanks! I like the way you widened the Rix overpass and added sidewalks. - Paul
Thanks! I appreciate it.
The trees and foliage look fantastic. Love all those different textures. Nice job as usual.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks Tim, Great video as always. Really looking forward to more scale SC action and modeling how-to's.
Thanks, I appreciate it. There will be plenty of scale SC action and how-to's in the future.
Thanks Tim,,as always she is looking good,

Thanks! Yeah that crap is nasty!
Hi Tim, Happy New Year and thanks for this Layout Update to kick things off. I liked the Foliage at the Bridge and also, the Weathering on the Hopper Cars. I've always wondered why Grain Hoppers have black staining down their Sides - now I know.
Thanks! Glad to help.

There’s a lot that’s been done on the layout. I made a 2024 Layout Tour in November explaining the whole layout if you haven’t seen it.
@SeaboardCentral I watch every one! 😎
Excellent work, the GSI prototype is now part of Rock Island Rail
Thanks! Yeah that so cool.
Thanks for showing the products you used to make the foilage around the highway bridge. Looks great.
Thanks for tuning in!

That is great. I would recommend using Tamiya Paint. It is easy on an airbrush and most of the time all you need to clean it is 90% Isopropyl alcohol.
The Seaboard Central rocks!
Thanks!
Great railroad, great modeling, great video ... Tom Klimoski told me about your railroad when I visited him in December ... he was right! One question: is that a cement facility @ Ragland, Alabama? Many thanks and best wishes.

Thank you so much! Tom is a good friend and mentor. Yes, it is a simulation of National Cement in Ragland, Alabama.
Just a beautiful layout and rolling stock. Excellent update and thanks for sharing. Dave
Thanks Dave!
Nice layout, amazing work
Thank you very much!

Thanks! Hopefully one day the layout will inspire you to reconsider the hobby.
Beautiful work.
Thanks!
Happy New Year Tim. The SC is looking great. That was a nice update.
Thanks! I appreciate it!
Thanks Tim always great
Thanks for watching!
Great job on the new freight cars!
Glad you like them!
Great update on everything that you did !!! And a happy new year 🎊 !!!
Thanks! Happy New Year to you too!
Excellent video to kick off 2025!!! Hope you feel better sir! Looking forward to next week! - Gary
Thanks Gary! I appreciate it

As always, looking good Tim.
Thanks! Much appreciated!
Great update. I like the recycling operation.
Thanks!
Happy New Year Tim! Starting off the year with a great episode/update... looking forward to next weeks episode.
Happy New Year! Thanks! Stay tuned.
Nice update. Feel better soon!
Thanks!
Outstanding landscape backdrop and effective use of weathering….how about that snazzy Trackmobile……!
Great layout. Nice work.
Thanks!

Great way to start off the new year! What are your plans for the helix? Cover it up or leave it open for watching the trains roll through?
Thanks! I’ll add some scenery around the bottom but my plans are to leave it open. My grandkids love seeing the trains spiral up and down it. And I do too! :)
Great looking scenery. Where did you get your trees?
Thanks! I get trees from various places. But I also make some called Super Trees from www.sceneryexpress.com
Happy New Year Tim. Are my ears deceiving me or was the horn on the lead SC locomotive a Nathan Air chime? Love your scenery diversity.
Happy New Year! You would be correct. The horn is a Nathan.

@SeaboardCentral yes the art work comes in many applications , incredible detail!
By the rail greaser, is that an insulated rail joiner or a weather related wide gap in the rail?
It is an insulated joint separating the power districts.
Tim, do you plan to hide your helix in the future? Great great job on your scenery/car weathering.
Thanks! No, I plan on keeping it open for the most part. My grandkids love seeing the trains spiral up and down it and I think it is cool to see as well.
Any plan on doing PTC Antennaes on your locos?
Not on SC units. I model the year 2015 and PTC wasn’t mandated on the class 1 lines until 2016 so I have a couple of NS units with it since it was new.
Does Homeshops have a TH-cam layout? Looked for it but not sure I was looking for right thing??
No, Chris doesn’t have a layout right now. But he does have a website for a future plan. You can see a link to it on the Homeshops page.
@ ok. Thanks. Yes I visit his site often. Bought the SC coil cars …
