WOW...my hometown is Decatur. Sounds to me that you might be from Tuscola. The crossing there was amazing. I think the UP straightened it all out. What a shame. I worked on the N&W for a couple of years and if you're familiar with the blast...I had to work that next night. Scared to death. My friend and I used to sneak on board the Orlando Park commuter on the weekends that they would park on the old IC transfer tracks across from the depot. Wabash and NKP units would look good in a lash up. The Erie Lackawanna had a few Alco c424's and 425's. N&W I believe had low nose c425's from an order by the Wabash. BTW...I'm glad to see that someone else besides me gets trusted. Great videos.
I grew up in Sullivan, was born in Decatur, I have a lot of family there and visit annually. Tuscola was rebuilt in the early 90s but I remember going up into TY tower as a kid. What great memories I have from my childhood.
As usual, great video Rob! The time passes so fast while watching them. I really like that scene you are creating as you enter your room, it will be amazing! When I built my layout, pre DCC, it was all wired with individual blocks. Because of this I can easily switch the mainline from DCC to DC, which allows me to run my old DC locomotives, some of which are 65 years old. Anyway, great video Rob! 👍
Magnificent catches of the model trains and pass, i like it 5 stars. Thumbs up. Keep up the perfect work, my friend, i just liked and subscribed your channel, Greetings from Portugal to the USA.
The V&O C425s..... You could do a dip job on them, or a "bluebird" with the colors inverted, or combine the V&O decals with some bicentennial ones and do a unique scheme for 1976 (200th) and 2026 (250th).
Great Video Rob! I would paint them the Blue and White nose. Have you tried white Toothpaste to polish the gears up? We did that alot back in the 80s and 90s to polish the gears.
that bridge tunnel scene you laid out, Do It...not much help with those older engines but, you create your own paint scheme and logos for your RR that can interchange with the others...speaking of old diesels, I have 6-7 older Atlas Yellow Box DC's that I believe have Kato drives that run great...haven't seen anyone DCC them...
@@stephenlessner5686 I looked for the Atlas C420s for months and couldn’t find the NKP or an Undecorated locomotive, heck I got lucky when I found these two MRCs.
If you aren't needing all the bells, buzzers and lighting stuff you can save a lot of money with Soundtraxx Economi decoders. I always used their Tsunamis and have lately just been doing the Economis. I think a new, complete shell for $75 isn't bad considering you got a free mechanism for it.
Alco C-420's - MRC or ATLAS? Trust me, having both at one time, the ATLAS is the way to go. don.t waste time on the MRC/Rivarossi units - they are junk. your layout deserves better.
