Having watched you for a good few years Richard I am quite certain that you are the modern master of abstract Australian landscape painters. Another very impressive effort.
Since you asked, I love watching you paint anywhere because you are an amazing artist. The energy you give to your work is fantastic no matter what. However, the plein air videos show how much you love the subjects you paint, and how much effort goes into planning not only the painting itself, but the whole trip. I really enjoyed camping when I was younger, usually solo with my two dogs so watching you puts me back in touch with that feeling of "peaceful exhilaration" that you don't get when you have company. To watch you document that emotion on canvas with oil paints just lends even more credibility to the work itself. Like you say, "Beautiful stuff!"
Amazing how much of a sense of realism you achieved after adding the water at the 35:35 mark! The early prep of the shadow and light + sky was enough to give a sense of realistic form and the river set the scene, separating the foreground and background and tied it together so quickly. 👏👍🏼

Always take us outdoors with you! From one plein aire artist to another, you are more inspirational than you know! Even just seeing you deal with the wind, running low on ultramarine blue, anticipating the sun's path and future shadows, etc... encourages us. Beautiful paintings are icing on the cake!!!
G'day Richard, have Covid and last few days have been horrific but imagine my delight to see another walkabout/paint video to watch. Once again I love the soft water/reflections technique complimented by the chunkiness of the trees. You have a way of capturing the character of the key elements in the scene. The trees are the highlight, the key players and there is no doubt they are Gum Trees. My take away from this paint is how you key down certain areas to draw the eye to the areas you wish the viewer to focus on. Lines, tones, contrast are all important. I would also like to thank you for all the behind the scenes you do to produce these videos. Setting up a camera to capture you driving or walking into view etc. plus all the other technical aspects I'm sure most would not be aware of. Your videos take me on a journey from the time you arrive, the meals, the paddling along the river, it's inspirational mate. I'm enjoying your new studio work as well and combined with your trips away, it brings us the magic that is you my friend. Cheers, Rich

Hello Richard, what a beautiful journey you offer us through your video. Sublime images of the river in the early morning or at sunset, with the singing of birds as an extra. For your first painting, it's amazing to see the abstract version up close, as always. As for the 2nd, it's incredible how you manage to make this rising sun dazzling in our eyes. Concerning the last one, it is truly magnificent with these sublime reflections in the water, and these giant trees whose character you perfectly capture. Well done, you have a lot of talent.😊

Harmonious, almost pastel colors make for an awesome sun drenched landscape painting, truly another feast for the eyes! Очень красиво!Я обычно большие холсты грунтую акриловым герметиком мастихином.Если появляется вмятина на холсте я кистью с обратной стороны холст смачиваю водой и он выравнивается.Попробуйте,этот метод используют художники с Андреевского спуска в Киеве.

I’ve been using your vids as a tutorial and trying to follow along. I’ve got a long way to go! But the colour is hard to differentiate when your outside, the studio vids are easier follow.
