Looking at your painting Richard makes me think of being a child trying to pick out a favorite candy, it is just impossible. The contrast between the cool and the warmth complement each other so beautifully and creates such gorgeous reflections in the water. Adding to that all the little gems ( as always) hidden in the knife marks inviting the eye to a little treasure hunt. Thank you for sharing your work and being such an inspiration!

Richard, I agree with your theory of getting out and absorbing the atmosphere and colors of a location even for studio painting. Wonderful job once again! ❤

G'day Richard, greetings from the UK. Came across your channel a few days ago and absolutely love - so therapeutic after a hectic day! I really enjoy how spontaneous your paintings are, the vibrant colours and how you jump around all over the place! The way your videos are broken up with brief clips of the beautiful Aussie landscape really works too. All the best!

Gidday Richard, crikey you have produced another masterpiece. You have captured the essence and nature of that landscape, the beautiful reflections and chunky cliffs are iconic Musgrave-Evans. That 'sting' of cad orange on the cliff pulls the eye through the scene, in contrast with the subdued complimentary blues and greens. I'm loving this one mate, has to be right up with my favourites. Watching you paint is like settling down with a cup of tea and a hard to put down book, each chapter drawing me in and teasing me with it's direction. Yep, you have done it again Master Illusionist. Cheers mate, Rich

Great work Richard, on a hard subject, the river does change a lot with colours. The Murray was the first thing I got used to when coming to Australia and living in this country area. in 1963. love the river and love painting it. It's a challenge. well done mate. cheers.

    Hi Richard,
Great painting from you in a lovely location. Begorrah! .. your camera throws you a huge plus in capturing your scenes. Never be tempted to trade up. 😊 It is a fabulous camera and with you in the drivers seat.. your camera produces such powerful excellent depth of picture... just like your palette knife and paint. Both producing wonderful wonderful images from your hands.
Just love what you do and where you go and your art. Your spirit is to me a huge incentive to get out there and do it.
Thanks for all of that you beauty' lol. All the best from across the pond 👍👍👍❤️

👋Good morning, Richard, I apologize for being late. Your work is again as always and as all of your paintings excellent ! Yes, you're right, to capture the beauty of the landscape and the surroundings of the river so beautifully, you have to have been on the spot to be able to soak up the atmosphere and subsequently bring it into the picture. A masterful representation, which comes across very realistic and yet is painted in an impressionistic manner. Beautiful colors and reflections ! Thank you very much, it was as always a pleasure to watch you and listen to your explanations. Have a great week.💖

Hello Richard, a new beautiful canvas. I like how you have gradient your sky and water colors. The cliff and its reflection in the water are magnificent. Brilliant as always, Richard. You truly have the feel for your extraordinary scenery. Such a pristine appearing countryside. I appreciate the intentionality of your designing your canvas and how you explain your choices. One question I have for you (other than when you're going to have some of us paint with you outback) is why you bother with the big tubes of paint, when the cans seem to function better for you?

    • @richardmusgrave-evans9886

You nailed another one! Makes me want to travel to those great landscapes…but I’m painting to a deadline….and yes I find you’re work inspirational to my bas relief paintings and the constructions I build with color and chunky relief. Dustin Gaersmith here in Point Arena, California, USA!

@@richardmusgrave-evans9886 Let me define inspiration…I’ve been making art all my life…and just recently I caught one of you videos. I watched several, you handle water terrifically. Then because I started out in oil formally, the palette knife was how I began. That was at junior college. Of course the nude figure I started in grammar school 8 years old…my father was a very established jazz musician, my mother an artist of many talents and theater. But very young I fell for the bronzes of Rodin….my mother was fascinated with his little known dancers. And I soon learned I see in three dimensions. Although I’ve graduated to sub atomic particle levels of awareness which is plain crazy trying to paint those images.
I digress….but to point. Your exceptional technique and your hands on out back are my kind of natural style here in Northern California. While struggling with what I call “folk art style” of documenting my rural community’s cultural history, it’s a lazy man’s medium…but I struggled with developing a sky over a horizontal format of my favorite surf spot. Then it hit me palette knife the sky into a “Green Flash”…problem of many months while documenting and compressing figures and actual experiences into the entire painting. Very personal for those who were there. This place is called Arena Cove in Point Arena. It’s on Point Arena, the closest point of land to Hawaii on the west coast. It’s on every earth globe.
Just completed the 11” X 44” piece for an up coming local exhibition….Gualala Art Center in another small coastal community near the SeaRanch, Gualala CA…no one I know has attempted a green flash though quite a few photographers have..
Your videos completely reveal your timing and technique … your work and your style are kindred spirits to parts of my past though it’s touch and go at 76 years of age. I only know one real Aussie his name is Mark Callanan and he’s a fine art photographer. Out of Sidney I suppose. When he was here in the states after his circumnavigation of the planet we shared my studio and shop for several major shows! Did a lot a framing and a lot of mischief on the conventional art scene.
So keep at it, Musgrave-Evans Australia is on my bucket list, and visiting Mark of course. If I get there I’ll look for a show of your work.
Outstanding would be the experience of being in a room full of your landscapes and whatever else!
      Satchitananda
