Ubisoft came up with the game Skull & Bones and asked Chance to write a song for it. This is Chance’s song for the game. How cool is that?!! Love this song! It’s a great pirate song. Davy Jones’ locker is a metaphor for the ocean’s deep, the resting place of drowned sailors and pirates. Your remains will be sent to Davy Jones locker is a saying (if you die at sea).

“Davy Jones’ locker” is an expression from the 1700’s as a sailor’s way to reference where you go when you die.
This is insanely good. The shorter, live version from the Ubisoft presentation is even better, I think. Definitely worth a look.
Shanties are a type of folk music, meant to often provide a constant steady beat so sailers move in unison…helpful for tasks like hoisting the massive sails on a ship. While this is a new song, it’s definitely in the shanty style. That steady beat that Adam is providing, in my mind I can see the hard work needed to sail. And the call and response portion is also part of songs to be sung during work. Of course there are older songs from the folk tradition that many on a ship would know and be able to sing along, which helps create unity ona ship.
the new skull and bones release this summer will feature Home Free's song written by Chance for the game. Pretty cool!!

After The Sea Shanty Medley went viral Ubisoft contacted Home Free for a song Chance wrote the song and sang lead he played guitar Austin played the Mandolin Tim doubled up on Bass Rob added his operettic skills Adam provided the drums and also backing vocals.

Davy Jones was a character in Pirates of the Caribbean. He's the guy with the tentacles coming off the lower part of his face. He's a deeply disturbed and evil individual. This was written by Adam Chance for the new video game "Skull and Bones".
Davey Jones refers to a death/ coffin in the ocean, as in "Davey Jones' Locker".
