Oh that was lovely Jan, thank you for sharing, I was pleased to make it to Church today, an of course it is St George Day an 2nd Sunday of Easter, it is gloriously sunny here in Southport. thanks one again for the Bells of St. Mary's Church.
They carried on ringing for another 15 minutes after I stopped the video. It is the same peel over and over so it gets a bit boring after the first 5 minutes
I love church bells (even if it is only a recording). Not heard them for many, many years, so thanks, Jan! The yarn you got the other day that is like Boho Spirit. My daughter bought me some recently and I much prefer it to the other. You get lots more for your money, too :-)
We used to have bell ringers and they practised every Wednesday night. Sadly what I can hear now we think that it is some kind of recording as it is the same peel over and over.
Quite a few years back, they installed a "Quasimodo system". It's an electronic system that chimes the bells (with little hammers I guess) rather than ringing them. So it's not recorded but it can (and does) go on and on ... and on!
@Ivan Steel My son says that they are not allowed to ring them at the moment because of Covid and social distancing. I have now moved to Fleetwood but there is a Facebook group about St Mary's church showing the volunteers who take care of the graveyard and they might be able to answer your question. This guy is probably a good man to ask Alan Jennings facebook.com/groups/1338298946236536/user/1411720562/
Sadly I am not a regular church goer. It is a very beautiful church inside with lovely stained glass windows. Maybe one day I will be able to take photos if I go when it is open.
Beautiful! The little birds seem to be trying to join in with song. :). Thanks for sharing......I love it! Have a wonderful Sunday!
