This was my dream tablet when I was a kid
Checking this out after the pixel tab impressions. Seems very impressive for it's time!
I have so many good memories with this device during my college years. It was so useful for my college classes when it comes to taking notes and the gaming on this was great at the time due to the Tegra Processor.
I got the 32GB model and it was an awesome tablet. I can’t believe it’s been almost 9 years.

It’s 2018 and this tablet is still better than those cheap tablets on the market and it’s cheaper definitely recommend you to buy this tablet even in 2018. The 2013 model is better than 2012 and it’s cheaper as I found out.

Looks great. And as someone else said, you are getting better and better, and I am defiantly gad I found you when I did. I would probably get one of these little bad boys if it did have a cellular radio, because relying on Wifi would simply annoy me.

You can rotate the Home Screen if you change the settings.
Not that I hate Apple. I love them as well. But they should really learn something from Google when it comes to marketing. I love the fact that Google wants their customers to be completely immersed in their products

Still works very decectly for an about 6 year old device. As long as you stay away from generally anything hardware consuming (most new games, complex websites, too many processes) Still works fine as an E-reader, video streamer, and most basic things.
This was my first MKBHD video back when I was looking for a cheaper alternative to an iPad. Been a fan ever since. Really impressed that the quality of your videos has always been pretty damn good even when you didn't have the coolest gear possible.

My daughter is 7 and she really wants an ipad. I'm not ready to drop that much cash so was looking for a close second. I was looking at the nexus 7 and a kindle fire hd. The two things she will use it for will be books and game apps. Thoughts? Thanks for the review!
well you forgot the Nexus One, and that had an SD Slot. They've all had AMOLED screens as well, up until now. Galaxy Nexus has a 32gb option. So no, not all Nexus devices are built the same way.

I got a Nexus 7, and it's epic. You can be in landscape OR portrait on the menu with kit kat. It now has a backwards and forwards camera. My only complaint was like you said, the power and the volume being confused. You can get the Amazon app store on it via Chrome. The next generation is awesome, I would recommend it to anyone.

Yep never update to Lollipop my Nexus 7 ran like shit so I had to downgrade to KitKat!
I miss my gen 2 nexus 7 so much.
I was so sad when mine died because after that, every tablet i tried performed so much worse than the nexus 7. It was only this year that I got ahole of a galaxy tab s6 lite and felt like i found a successor to the nexus tablets.
I still have the newer version, and working fine with android 6, I am still able to update apps, still usable.
The only disadvantage is the slow charge speed

no issues with the glass lifting on the left side or feeling squishy? My first 16gb unit had the glass lifting away from the bezel. I RMA'd it and my second one was better but had a loose squishy feeling when you press on the left side of the glass.

Could you probably make a video where you explain the difference between Nexus & Stock - for me, I don't know the difference, probably because I've never used a Nexus.
Is it a good tablet in terms of copying Images/videos/music and downloading apps BEFOREHAND and then disconnecting wifi to use it all? Do those 4 main features require some wifi connection or cloud to function if I preinstall or preload them? It just seems the tablet is so reluctant on an internet connection. Don't worry, limited space isn't a worry for me in the slightest, I'm getting the 16gb model or above.
I know im not marques, but it comes down to the fact of what apple did to the mini compared to where Google and Asus built up the 7! Apple took their iPad and lowered its specs to iPad 2 specs while Google took the best that was available at the time, yet was still cost efficient and able to be affordable!
Now we look at what they are intended for. The 7 is for more of a media based thing such as books and movies, while the iPad is intended for people who want a smaller iPad to waste money on.
Oh really just like the notification bar was that apples first? No it was on Android first since 2008. The home screen is not part of android he just set it as his wallpaper. Also the Google Nexus 7 is a 7 Inch form factor tablet while the IPad is a 10 Inch form factor tablet. You can say Apple copied Microsoft since Microsoft Invented the tablet.The apps don't belong to apple they belong to google. Like TH-cam,Gmail. Besides why are you even in this video if you think the IPad is better?
Becuase the iPad2 gets games designed to specifically cater to it and to take advantage of the spefic hardware in the device. If you run it in, say, the first iPad, you'd notice that the experience is, well, I'd go so far to say barely playable. The same thing will happen to the iPad 2 in the near future (close to when the iPhone 5 comes out).
And they didn't HAVE to design the device with Tegra 3, they're just making sure it holds up in the future. But the current games still benefit from that
1. Go to Settings > Security and enable the ‘Unknown Sources’ option.
2. Download the Flash player APK on your Nexus 7(You can find it with a google search).
3. Install Fire Fox Beta
4. FireFox Beta settings (three dots to right corner) -> Settings -> Plugins -> Select: Enabled

There isn't really a desire to get a 7inch tablet and this one is no different. It really doesn't have that wow factor either. i PERSONALLY THINK THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE OUT THERE INCLUDING MYSELF WHO DO use the camera on the tablet. i guess more people will use the camera feature as the tablets get smaller rather than a bigger tablet like the ipad.
How long do you think will it be until we get a nexus 7 with an oled screen at the same price point?
Also will we be gettin a tour of your desk soon? I need the model # for those monitors as I decided I'm going to go with a similar setup and it looks like they are seamless when together like that

Haha love the picture of that tiny small iphone. It seems about the right size lol. I wish Google could come up with like a monthly subscription for movies or something like netflix because it can get a little expensive watching movies in the Google play store. Good vid.
wow, thats a sweet tablet. i should recommend this to my mom. she has a smart pad. an alpha version of an android tablet. and it sucks hard core. the screen you have to apply alot of pressure for it to register. and for 200 bucks thats an excellent price. all she needs it for is games and books.
I think, with the success of this device & products like Samsung's Note, and the still relatively "new" tablet market, 10 inches will become the new laptop form factor (with removable keyboard i.e. surface) and tablets will stay 7 inch-ish moving forward. Good review!

Baws. Great tablet. Not perfect but didn't expect it to be; great value. Love the os and butter performance. Managed to get one at office max (call the stores) and couldn't cancel the order from Walmart. What am i going todo with two?!?!
Watching your videos convinced me to get a Galaxy Nexus phone last week and now watching this one I'm nearly convinced to get the tablet version as well. Great looking vids mate, appreciate the quality you've put into your work.

Bruh this was worth $200
Nexus 7 is stronger then nexus 10 it has 4 cores and 1 gb 32gb model is $250. the video look awesome is worth every penny. the battery for nexus 7 is unrivaled it last a full day without a single charge.
You highlight the right and important aspects, and in a different (and better) way than most reviews. And ofcourse the overall quality is premium. Good job and best wishes from a new Norwegian fan.

I saw in the notification bar you had a notification with the battery temperature etc as well as when you did the two finger gesture I saw WiFi and airplane mode. Is that an app or?
Look at those bezels , watching in a 6.8in phone lg v60 , I loved that tablet.

If you want your home screen to rotate to landscape just download Ultimate Rotation Control from the Play Store. Thumbs up this comment so every N7 user can see it!
You should try to run something like dead trigger for a while on it and watch how bad the touchscreen fucks up right in the spot that the processor is under the screen.

Honestly I'd pick one. If you want a 7 inch tablet, get the nexus 7, if you want a 10 inch tablet, get the ipad. that's my opinion though.
There's only one glaring problem with the Nexus 7, and that's "Transformers: Dark of the Moon".

I got the this one with 32gb 4 days ago from GameStop for $272 tax included. Is awesome and extremely fast works like a dream.
i know i know,lol, but it's $50 more then what i got the touchpad for...but the quad core tegra!!!....DARN YOU TECHNOLOGY!!!
