I honestly think my favorite thing about this channel is the specificness of each person. Carl is an absolutely HILARIOUS personality and you can see that he just loves to be on camera, and the fact that there's no boss to tell him "that costume isn't funny" or to shut down any of his ideas is amazing, Thorolf is a legitimate threat to win ANY game he plays simply because he has such a specific, intuitive knowledge of Magic that's hard to teach or even counter sometimes, and Jamin is that one person we all know who no matter what, they have an answer about EVERY question you could possibly ask on a subject. Heart, Intellect, Skill! By your powers combined, it is CARDMARKET: THE BEST MAGIC CHANNEL ON TH-cam
Just to clarify: Amped Raptor states you exile cards, nothing extra, so the land put on the bottom of Carl's library was incorrect. The first thing I noticed with Raptor when it was first revealed was the fact it just exiles every land you hit.
Id also like to clarify that static prison triggers at the beginning of main phase 1, not in the upkeep. So you get to draw a card for turn which can change decisions about paying/not paying for prison.
@@SCLoui Also relevant so you can casts instant speed spells in your upkeep before having to pay in your main phase, which can really matter if it's a spell that generates energy that you need in order to pay.
At 32:02 Thoralf couldn't have targeted himself with Kozilek's command, and Phlage couldn't have targeted because he still had ring protection. I only know this because it just came up in a Bosh N Roll Video :p
Today I learned a lot of animal facts thanks to this video: 1. Cats do nothing but win over your heart (unless they're in the WIld West, there they carry diseases), and they are possibly dragons and lay eggs??? (the jury is still out on this) 2. All dinosaurs are angels 3. Dragons are basically bigger cats 4. Sharks are actually nice (but only if you watch the Discovery Channel), win every fight against a huge stone giant, hate islands (because that's where the prey hides), and speak the same language as foxes
Using Kozilek's Command to scry a billion, WHILE noting the location of another blue card to pitch to Subtelty later (that you could pick up with the second K-Command in hand if you make enough mana), was super slick. I wouldn't have had the presence of mind to consider that line.
The cooler part of the play in my opinion was how he set up the top of his deck so that emrakul was 4 cards or so down, so he could draw it and discard it at instant speed with the thirst for knowledge he put second from the top. I was confused about why he had passed the turn without casting anything but that was such a cool play
Toralf on Tron and Carl in a Costume is always a joy. The same goes for Meta vs non-Meta matchups in established formats. Spoiler: I also really appreciate Captain Jamin and Carl-Shark for Halloween ;)
i was going to comment this, lol, modal spells DO have the order as printed, so there's the Scry/Draw effect first, then exiling a creature, so even if Bowmaster is gone by the time Kozilek's command finishes resolving, it was there to see the card draw
Found you guys binging magic the Noah games. I haven’t played magic in 8ish years. You guys are a blast to watch and the production quality is ESPN quality, you dudes are awesome, hope you’re having a good weekend.
At around 19:40 the Kozi Command draw would trigger before the exile effect, so there would be an additional orcish bowmaster ping when the command resolves.
I appreciate at the end of the video seeing the "Happy birthday" hat that you wore to prop up the shark costume, haha! I spent a lot of the last deck trying to figure out what those pink things were on top of Carl's head - I thought they were some sort of costume wound or scar for being eaten by the shark or something like that... lol
I like the nonchalance in Carl's voice as he looked Thoralf in the eyes and said "I'm a shark, what's a counterspell?" With a counterspell sitting in exile from turn 1 lol
I hope this is not taken in a bad way, but I just found out about thoralf height. It shocked me at first but now it made me excited!! I never thought about it until this video and made me appreciate all the work you do! Makes me envious of such an environment where i could be part of mtg without being judged :(
At long last a new video! At 32:35 mr.Shark casted Phlage via escape, BUT Thoralf (re)casted One Ring during his turn, therefore he should had been protected form the mighty Titan wrath and had 3 more life for the few more turns. Sure it wouldnt change anything, but he got almost sharked on it :(. Thanks for the video! I had fun watching it.
The same goes for when Thoralf scried 11 with Kozileks Command. He had protection from everything, that includes his own instants, so he can't target himself to scry and draw with the effect
Very good timing for Halloween, although we know Carl will take any opportunity to put on a costume or two... Carl Shark evolving to grow hands was... Well, it was 😂
11:19 I actually work as a pirate at a Halloween attraction and I have a lot of thoughts about this. I’ve worn basically that same design of jacket 3 years in a row and while I feel it is likely intended to be slightly rolled up like that I almost never actually wear it like that. Both because it covers the much more intricate detailing of the sleeves and because it exposes more of my arm (which is bad because cold and also I’m supposed to be a skeleton) or my undershirt (which is way less cool than the jacket). So yes, I do think the jackets are supposed to be worn like that but I almost never do because of the aforementioned reasons. Love the video btw.
it's the same in German, though, so I suppose Thoralf did it on purpose. German "Hai" = shark, same pronunciations as English word "hi" which is used in Germany as a greeting since at least a couple decades
28:06: Mana from a powerstone is used to cast a non-artifact spell. Earlier on, it is said that a power stone makes mana that cannot be spend on a non-artifact creature, while the real text of a power stone states it cannot be spend on a non-artifact spell (thus the Kozilek's command is one smaller) They did play it properly later on
I actually won an RCQ with mono blue tron this season! It’s an absolutely insane shell for both Ring and Karn, and to my continuous shock it was actually Oblivion Stone that proved the best mainboard sweeper.
I saw the birthday hat inside the shark mouth earlier in the vid and thought it was gonna make a surprise reveal appearance, but I guess it was just in there to help the shark keep its shape.

19:08 - 19:40 Doesn't Kozilek's Command complete in the order on the card? So even if you're choosing Exile target creature and Target player scries then draws a card it should still be in the order of Target Player scries then draws a card, then exile target creature in which case the Orcish Bowmasters would actually be on the field when Toralf draws the card and it's trigger would still go on the stack?
19:31 When a card has multiple effects like this, they have to be done in the order they are written, so Thoralf should have done the scry and draw first, which would trigger the bowmaster before it gets exiled.

By all the tokens and dice you have - I love the comedic pause from Carl when reading Phlage abilities.
thoralf couldn't tap the powerstone for the kozileks command; it can only tap for non-artifact spells 28:00
that is true; that is why he left that final mana from the powerstone floating and did not pay it into Kozilek's.
@@sunnydfangirl He didn’t, that was the second Kozilek’s command. For the one at 28:00 he used the powerstone mana.
