*I thought Tesla said the 18" rims had slightly better range?*
I wish you did a real world test to show if it actually gives you better range
In the works
People don’t realize the hundreds of tests necessary to get statistical significance
Im curious too if it affects its ability to stop. I had Nissan Leaf that I thought the stopping ability is scary. It had a special low resistance tire. When I switched it out with regular tires, it stopped like a normal car.
@@chrismd00 a lot of TH-camrs do real world tests all the time. I wasn’t asking for some scientific super accurate test!
Real world tests are uncontrolled and can wildly vary. Bad way to determine metrics
I got these a month ago. I love them. So quiet and smooth.
Thank you for another great video. I’m interested to see what changes in range you experience with the wheel and tire setup.
I'm not changing my rims as I have already upgraded from factory with 19" Sport wheels (2021 M3) and 20" Induction (2023 MY), but I'd be really interested to see comparisons with these tires and these rims.
I've had these installed on my Model S since January and am very pleased with them. At the time nobody sold them and had to purchase off ebay about $1300 OTD. They are extremely quiet with great all around traction even in snow. As far as long term wear I only have 5000 miles on them will report back at 10k. Did a review on youtube btw. Love ya Kim ;)
I am considering these for my model s performance. Currently have Michelin pilot sport 4 all seasons as my summer tire. No complaints about the Michelins, have just under 30k on my current ones and it’s almost time to replace. I can get the Hankooks for $222 while the Michelins are closer to $289. I do want a nice performance summer tire but don’t always push the car a lot and drive a lot on highway. What did you have before you put these on? Still like them?
@@kevdogsab I had two sets of the michelins prior. I had no complaints about the pilot sports. Saw the hankooks and that they were made specifically for ev''s. Lots of tech in these now and much quieter and great in snow and rain. I would take the hankooks over the michelins for a MS any day. Up to 133,400 miles on the S and still happy.
Hi. Did you buy 19 or 21" tires? Do you have the tire specs? I am looking for my 2014 MS P85d . Thank you.
@@TechnozSki What car?
Loving the mods Kim. We are on our way back to TN from Fort Lauderdale. We drove our MX 90D there for vacation with four teenagers....lol. It's been a fun trip and the stopping to charge hasn't been bad. But I have been doing some mods to my MX. Switch out the old first gen falcon wing door buttons to the current one. And also switch out the steering wheel to a yoke. Anyway great videos.
How much did the new rims and tires weigh?
Yes, you were about to weigh the new setup when the tire/wheel fell over and you never completed that step!
@@dvancamp6710 pretty sure they were heavier lol
Wow..ordered a set of Hankook Ions yesterday for my M3..great for confirmation of the right choice. Shanghai Tesla's come with Hancook tyres as standard, not Ions though.
I just bought these Hankook tires and they are amazing. They also have 10/32nds of tread depth. Thanks great video
Glad you like them!
Michelin has had these for a few years now (with foam inserts). Maybe a comparison is in order? I don't have time to watch, but how is the price on these?
Hankook makes great tires, been using it on all my vehicle, and recently bought the wife a model y and will get this set of tires when try original one wears out. Great videos
What size tires are on the 20 inch wheels
One more question.. They have light weight 21” Mod Y P forged wheels? Tires too?
I really like your videos and I follow you since the assembly of the Hansshow screen behind the wheel. You are a champion and I admire everything you post on your channel. Congratulations my friend.💯👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🔥🔥🏆
That is a T Sportline screen, check links below!
I got a 75D I need these wheel if it increase my range am all in. Let me know how it goes...
How do they perform, comparatively, in wet surface conditions?
Rims look pretty good and all season tires. I had that on my last car, quite convenient not to have to change to winter tires. But I wonder if they have grip enough for the performance acceleration. Maybe not.
WHen the time comes, I will consider them for my 2022 M3LR primarily for the reduced amount of road noise, but I will stick with the 18" wheels.
I’ve had these tires for about a month, and the range is noticeably better along with the quietness. I love them, and can only recommend them!
that is great to hear, if they really last longer thats just amazing
I installed these tires back in December. Yes they are so smooth and quiet, I am really glad i switched from the stock tires I had on my 2019 X. Discount tire had to order them and it took 2 days to get.
I purchased these exact tires from T-Sportline, and I love love love them. They come professionally mounted (tire to rim) and balanced, they drive super comfortable and they are quiet. Not super cheap, but these are really high quality and worth every penny IMO. Luckily your viewers get a discount code. Also, these wheels direct swap and have the necessary TPMS installed so they communicate proper tire pressure to your Tesla.
Glad you like them!
How much is “not super cheap”?
@@someoneelse6934 the exact cost when I purchased mine (over a year ago) with shipping was 4160.25. The tires come balanced and mounted to the rims with official Tesla TPMS sensors installed, so they are just bolt on or plug and play from there and simply work with the car. Maybe with Kim's code or if they have specials you might be able to get a better price. I'm sure it changes with market conditions.
I plan on buying my first Tesla in 2025 as a present to myself for finishing graduate school. This information is so valuable and useful. Thanks Kim Java!!
That's a great goal king 🥰 I hope you love the car
baddddddd idea. i have had 3 teslas a 3 x and cybertruck. they are all bad quality
how is the braking and cold climate traction?
How's the efficiency compared to the original continental procontact rx tires?
is the Tesla winter tire package worth as compared to aftermarket tire package, in terms of price, car range per charge and tire life ?
I hope they bring back the silver color. Such a great color for the Model 3.
What's the comparison of this between this and the aero covers on?
I usually go the other way with tires when needing more traction for racing. The pilot sport 4s is really good, but the cup 2's leave them in the dust. UHP tires that kills range and allow great g's in the corner. I don't care about having 250 mile vs 190 really.
yup handling and traction rather than going for max range especially in the rain, safety first over range and noise. I'm sure these tires are great but there are better options. Especially considering EV's weigh more so hopefully that's factored into the design. And aftermarket rims claiming to be better than Teslas I would stay away from as they know and have engineered the rims for the vehicle unless it's a really well known brand with proven track record with EV's and Tesla in particular, wheels and tires are the most important thing on your car so stick with what's tried and true.
What kind of tire inflator did he use?
And there was I about to order some Michelin Sports. Looks like it's Hankook o'clock
I love me my Michelin sports but they wear out so much faster than pretty much any other tire you can buy. I said screw it and bought them anyway so I can have a little fun for a while 😂
How much did the new tires weigh? And how did it impact the range since they are more aerodynamic?
they want to hide that out as the difference was neglegible, so moot point !
Seriously why weigh the original but not show us the new one. Does the new one weigh even more??
@@HypocritesExposd My guess, based on the design of those 19" wheels they're at least 5lbs heavier than the stock 18" wheels, which are pretty lite for stock wheels.
Thanks for that Teri App! That’s very useful! I was just thinking the other day that I should be able to unlock my MX with my 🍎 Watch. Very cool sponsor! Love this channel!
I got the Michelin Pilot Sport tires when I bought the Wheel and tire package form T-Sportline for my Tesla Model 3 Performance (I replaced the wheels and tires with only 110 miles on the stock ones LOL, I got the Arachnid 20" staggered package and I love it). But when I'm done with them (I am at 9,500 miles right now), I might go for the Hankook Ion EVO. But I do not want the noise foam, I specifically got the Michelin without the foam because it is a pain in the neck to patch them, most tire places will tell you need a new one. I saw a few videos that show the same tires with and without foam and the noise is virtually the same. Not worth it in my opinion. But I don't see the Ion EVOs without the foam. Do they sell them like that?
I love seeing a woman doing some of her own car repairs and upgrades. Kim is such a bad ass!! 💪
For those that want to actually know about these tires, I have put about 2k miles on them.
1:) they are excellent replacement tires for the OE tires.
2:) they are about 2db quieter at 70mph
3:) they don’t gain or lose any range, which I still consider a good thing.
I drive about 1k miles a week in my 2022 model 3 long range. These are pretty much the only good replacement tires if sound and range are what your looking for.
I agree and I have about 4k miles on mine. I really like them.
@@reginaldbrayon7073 over 20k now. Still great tires.
Did they say why the new rims are not Directional?( They are backwards on the passenger side, that would have helped with the range.) But they look good, And the car looks Great... Thank You for your video's.
How do they do with cornering and braking?
do they make them for 18” rims for the new Model 3? because with 18” rims there’s more room in the wheel well for a tire with a higher sidewall to make the ride more cushiony.
Is the 50,000 mile warranty reduced by 50% since the tires cannot be rotated from to rear on the modelYP?
Are these tires available at most retail tire shops? Les schwab? Costco? Where can i get these tires? BTW been watching you tesla youtube shows for quite some time. I just bought my first tesla 5 months ago. Model Y. LOVE IT
It would be interesting to see range tests on this new tire setup
everybody know that range will be smaller but new weels and tyres sold, better put 20 inch cover uberturbine on old 18"
I am thrilled to see the products for Tesla Model 3. Please let me know if these are available for Model Y also. I will be very grateful if you let me know the outlets in and near Toronto, Canada.
10 out of 10 video, Kim. Well done!
were actually moving to GA, next month. What part of GA are y'all in/near?
I'll have to look into these when we need tires on our new model 3
How do these perform on a Model Y?
Words I live by: "Always keep your nuts close-by."
Just don't put them in your wife's purse. You have a furry man sack for a reason.
Liking this series a lot. When I get a 3 or Y I'll be getting a lot of these mods. Especially the binnacle. Thanks.
I like hankooks but prices were similar to michellins. So i went with Falken FK460 for my MYP
Why would the stock tire psi sticker the same as the new tire psi?
Hi Kim, I have been following your channel for about 1 year now. Your content quality is very good and always improving. You have a lovely family as well. God Bless!!
Does that watch app have any plans to develop for the Galaxy Watch?
Maybe I wasn't paying attention. How much does the new wheel weigh?
they skipped it
I've had good results with the Pirelli P-Zero All Season Electric tires, and I recommend those.
what tires would be good for doordashing
Is there a model Y variant with these tires? I can’t find
How do they do in snow/ice?
Great video Kim, as usual!
Great video, I just rented a model three for three months to do Uber
In that time I put 16,000 miles on the car and I wasn’t driving as much as I really wanted, after taking it to Firestone for one of the 10,000 mile inspections that Hertz has the cars go through, he suggested the tires which were Michelin something or another’s from the factory would be toast basically somewhere in the 40,000 mile range, now I drive aggressively and I mean very aggressive so I’m sure I didn’t help that but it was a rental car so you drive it like you stole it and let me tell you I did, I also had three flats in that car from screws picked up, I drive a lot normally and I’ve never picked up so many screws so it has to be the kind of tire to some degree versus what I drive on my Simple Toyota,
And I learned about the foam liner with the first flat, but I’ve already learned it before this video that the cars will take their toll on the tires far quicker than normal
Where is this shop at? Is this GA? I'm looking for a similar shop to do some mods.. Im in NC. Thanks.
What’s the tyre pressure??
Thank you Kim. Do they make 21" for Model Y?
Yes!
How's the ride 18 vs the 19? I want the tires, idk about the wheels if I have to go up I'm size. If the wheel was also 18 easy I'd buy both next time I need wheels
I bought a set of 19 inch. If I were to do it again, I would get 20 inch.
I'm curious what the impact is on range with the new wheels.
well rim and tire combo range impact.
the best 2 summer tires for Tesla 3 (235/40ZR19) are Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02. Not Hankook (by many tests, like in TireRack). CLaims about "quietness" of Hankook tires are just that - claim w/o any proof or test. Obviously, outside of summer tires there are M+ S tires (all season) that also do not feature Hankook tires as the best. Recommended: Michelin Defender 2, Pirelli P Zero All season. Worth to check winter tires as well. Cheers.
The tires look great! Why does it look like the tires on left side of the car are facing a different way than the right side of the car? 6:55
Does anyone know if there are black wheel covers for the 2021 Model 3 long range with the 19 inch sport silver wheels, just looking to change things up a bit
No idea but you could always plasti dip or powder coat them!
Ain’t no way you dropped it a second time im weak 😂😂😂😂😂
Didn’t…that was an edit showing the first take when it happened. 😆
Wish they would fit my 2023 Tesla X. Tires are quite limited for the X model.
I think it might
Gives you some cred I love it 😂🎉
Range and noise are the result of tyre design to obtain grip and good wet weather safety.
Hence it’s great to aim for more range but the balance of grip and safety is also important…
No More Teri app discount?? It's saying invalid
I have Hankooks now, older version, and they are great. Will definitely look at these when mine should run low (after 25000km on the summer tires and 16000 on winter tires both are still in mint condition).😊
What car?
@@tarickaskani3396 Model 3 LR
I love this channel!
nice. BUT when did you see that front left rim was wrong placed...hahahaha
Love these rims, so they have them for the Model y?
Yes
I usually call the tow truck when I really want to extend my Model Y range. It's very effective.
Only need power for air conditioning, my battery and drivetrain last much longer
I don't own a tesla yet.. but smaller wheels are always better. Better ride, cheaper price for the wheels, cheaper rubber when it's time to get new tires, more sidewall for those potholes and such.
Hot damn that flex! 🔥
If you want a long lasting tire, get a tire with the longest treadlife warranty and highest UTQG. I use the Cinturato P7 All Season Plus tires on my Model S, got 33K miles out of them before replacing the tires, got a 50% treadlife credit since the tires are warrantied for 70K miles of treadlife. Tires are quiet, excellent traction, good value. The tires listed in this video only have a 50K treadlife warranty and a UTQG of only 540 vs 700 for the Cinturato tires.
How’s the tires on snow ?
Those are summer tires, so probably not good
I have these EVOs on my 2018 Model S. I really want them to work out. I don't know how anyone would see 6% increase in range, as there is soo many variables in driving conditions. I drive pretty chill so I hope these last the 50k. I will say I will never buy 21" rims again. 19s or 20s if I can next.
5:52 Yes ma'am!
Can you do a video on the actual difference you saw in range with these?
probably no, because is smaller omg
$4K for rims and tires will get you what, 2% more range?
Haha not 2% nor $4k for the tires…. the point isn’t just range but dramatically increasing tire longevity.
I got these and went in a 1,000 mile Trip. I am not sure about the range but they are quiet !
Please give me complete model number of tire…did I miss it?
Can you do a follow up to show that the range improvement is? Love those wheels!
But….I just bought the “Performance Look for Less” Tsportline wheel covers? This segment should be renamed, the performance look for more! Hahaha. Curious but what did you do with your old wheels?
Really love those covers! Saving them for down the road.
How much for the wheels and tires?
5k
@@borky1987 jesus!
What about the new Bridgestones? Same claims.
You weighed the factory wheel, but not this aftermarket wheel... or forgot to put that part in the video at least, lol.
Will these work for the Y as well?
Yes
Still waiting for 20' wheel version to put on M3P :(
Comes for 20” as well I believe
You weighed the old tire and rim (47lbs), but how much does the new one weigh???
Apparently she doesn’t want to answer that.
well, we are waiting for the model 3 refresh...
It would have been nice to have the “model 3” tires in the description.
9:50 I'm surprised they use that little battery powered pump in their shop. Lol
They don’t. Was just topping off one tire and it was handy.
@ItsKimJava how's the efficiency compared to the original continental procontact rx tires?
My fav tesla content creator 🎉🎉❤
Ahh thanks…We have fun over here for sure!
yet the are asymetrically mounted?.. can't understand why
