- For Johnny Yarusi, New Jersey’s famous pork roll has been a lifelong love affair. Now, he makes a variety of inspired pork roll sandwiches out of his food truck, Johnny’s Pork Roll. Johnny’s food truck operates around the Jersey coast, where he serves up the traditional pork roll, egg, and cheese sandwich, as well as a pork roll Reuben, a Hawaiian style pork roll sandwich, and more.

Sounds and looks a lot like German Brötchen
Isaac Peress the Vietnamese have a special “baguette” they make that fits that description. Similar to French baguettes, but they use a mix of rice flour and wheat flour. Super crispy on the outside and pillowy on the inside. Few places make it properly, but man does it taste amazing when they get it right.
Bread is All over nyc and Long Island.

Lived in Jersey my whole life, parents from Puerto Rico. I didn’t try porkroll til high school & now it’s a crucial stop when I visit Jersey again, I miss it so much

It's kind of like a fried bologna sandwich (I've had both) but pork roll has more of a ham-like flavor. Taylor Pork Roll brand is my favorite.

@@davidgray7907 It doesn't have that odd fake taste that SPAM does. It tastes a lot like ham but with the consistency of bologna. When you fry it, it gets that crispy outside. It's good. I've tried SPAM and i can't eat it.

I live in VA moved here from South Jersey. Just recently public started carrying Pork Roll! Words can’t describe how happy I was when I saw that they had Amarosa rolls and pork roll.

I got to try this. I tried to develop a pork roll and pineapple sandwich. Figured it would make a good basis for an iconic sandwich. I couldn't quite get it right. You need a way to dry out the pineapple and also to grill it without making a burnt sugar mess. Maybe it needs thinly sliced pineapple or even crushed pineapple. Also I'd go with a potato roll, though the size of a kaiser is nice for adding volume to a sandwich with intensely flavored ingredients like pork roll.
King of breakfast in NJ is a bold ass statement. I don’t know about that.
