I loved Oliver, he was a bloody fine actor and he never took fame remotely seriously. I'm so proud that he found real happiness here in Ireland with an Irish girl. We considered him one of our own, we really did. Good man Ollie! 😘❤️

I can relate to this, my late farther loved nothing better on a Saturday, going to the pub, reading the paper, writing his bet out and having a few pints before going home and cooking himself his dinner. RIP dad. Hope your having a few with Mr Reed.

Oliver Reed is on of my most favorite actors! He was such a great actor and his English accent I just love! Never really knew anything personal, just that I likes all his movies, but was saddened to see how he drank and how he was perceived to others for his drinking! But all in all doesn't change my liking for him, his works stand for how gifted he was! RIP Ollie!

Loved watching Ollie Reed on the telly when I was a kid although his Bill Sykes character scared the hell out of me. What a looker he was when he was young too. I've watched so many of his interviews recently, he seemed like an intelligent, interesting charming man when he was sober, his son looks and sounds very much like his father. Ollie was a proper alpha Male, feminists disliked him but real woman loved him.

Oliver Reed was simply a very intelligent gentleman with fantastic acting skills.
What I really dislike is when he was wheeled about & booze was given to him in order to get people talking in a negative way and sell newspapers. Very sad some of the interviews.
Watch him in his prime, some of his interviews are brilliant.

Ollie really knew how to live life to the full. When he was interested in something, he always put 100% of himself into it, as if he wanted to enjoy it to its fullest. Respect to Mr Reed. Forget his drinking. He left us a great film legacy and for that, we should all be grateful. RIP, Mr Reed. Your movies will live on.

He is the most genuine human being I’ve ever seen. Completely himself in whatever mood he is in and doesn’t hold back like most people. A kind of honesty that I’ve never seen before. We all have a monster in us that’s grown through years of living down here taking thunderbolts by so many but we try to hide that monster so we come across as nice and normal but this man didn’t hide it. Therefor there is no hidden demon that will burst out after to much stress but he exercised both sides of himself which I think created a balance that most people do not have.

Oliver Reed was a true movie star. You can certainly say that Oliver Reed stood shoulder to shoulder with the great Hollywood actors for screen presence and that certain something that gets people on the edge of their seats. He starred in some great movies and some not so great movies, however, you couldn’t take your eyes off him. What saddens me slightly is that people feel the need to talk about his drinking and how he drank too much. Well that was part of he man. Oliver Reed brought it all together to create, I stress, a natural legend that lives on his both our consciousness and hearts. Legend.

Oliver Reed's son seems a very decent down to earth chap....good character.
He's actually not from my generation.....I might have seen movies here and there featuring Oliver Reed. Peter O'Toole's name I knew, primarily from seeing 'Murphy's law' when I was a kid. Richard Harris is another one like Reed I have seen but don't remember the name due to me being young. I was surprised he was the lead in 'A man called horse'.....which I indeed saw so many years ago.
Of course 'Gladiator' made me more aware of the names of these gents. So I'm more actively seeking out their works and found out more about their, let's say scoundrel ways....oh my what a stories, have me backwards laughing 🤣.
Just 2 days ago I ordered the books 'Hellraisers', both in text and the graphic novel one.
Yes, these guys were the last of a certain breed.....interesting characters because they were so real.

love Ollie - Women in Love. 'I came because I must', his honest delivery was probably so honest because he was looking at Glenda Jackson's great knockers! - ha ha - Ollie said that himself. Oliver Reed is for the record, more emotionally intuitive than Richard Harris and on a par with Burton. For fans of this era - the fascination is undoubtedly to do with them outside of their work, but what a gent. Thank you Mark Reed for your time in giving such insight into your father, enjoyed this immensely :)

It's when I view this kind of material and what Oliver Reed was that I am again reminded that none of us...not one..die, we merely transition from this arena to another. Oliver Reed, among so many other greats, John Lennon as but one example, proves to my satisfaction that life is short for a reason; we are all here for a very brief interlude called life to do what we were sent here to do only to eventually be called onto the next experience. And, if I am wrong...well, fuck me!

robert glenn I like to think the same. Personally, I feel we are here to realise and learn something, that our personal journey is as long or as short as we need it to be for us to realise something until we are off to our next life. Everyone is different and not all lessons are pleasant. Sometimes it takes great pain and tragedy for us to be ready to go to the next life.

    • @MarlboroughBlenheim1

Yep. This universe is just a holographic illusion and our bodies are simply vehicles that carry the mind and our minds carry the consciousness that we all share but we’re just different points of attention. The body dies but the consciousness can never be destroyed.

Good to see Mark is drinking a Ramrod and Special. A superb drink, almost forgotten. The last time I was in the Hand there was a guy drinking the same. Since the bottle would over-fill the glass, he put his pint pot on the carpet and let his pug dog take an inch of beer, then poured the rest in for himself.
