9:03 French comedians (Elmaleh and Ngigol come to mind) have been pilfering stand-up material from obscure US comics for the best part of 10 years before finally getting caught. The fact that d'Elia could have done the same to someone who is almost one of his contemporary isn't far-fetched at all imo
I think D’elia is actually funnier on his podcast than in standup. He actually makes me cry laughing when it comes to his podcast (which is hard for me to do), but as much as I love the guy - honestly I’m not a fan of his standup at all. I’ve tried watching a few different of his standup shows and it did nothing for me.
It’s because the special is forged with an audience. And comedy audiences tend to be stupid.Maximizing your jokes for the most laughs only appeals to the lowest common denominator.
Everything you said is literally exactly how I feel . One of the funniest dudes in the world when he’s just being himself, but I just don’t think his stand up is funny at all. Idk why
yea because he doesn't think and just answers. him and bryan callen have the best energy. but regardless some people do love his standup, and some love his podcasts, so i guess we get the best of both worlds depending which you prefer.
We have the same thing in the UK, except it's panel shows instead of podcasts. Sean Lock (naturally hilarious) is so wonderful on panel shows but his stand up is eh s'bit shit.
Gluemonkey yeah I really like Sean lock on countdown didn’t know he did stand up too. I guess most guest on the adult countdown are comedians duh haha.
He is super funny and witty and he can come up with funny shit on the spot,im a fan of him for that plus he is a cool dude, but i got the same issue, i just dont like his specials.
Chris D’Elia is kind of like that kind of funny guy you know in person. Sometimes he’s pretty funny when he’s just riffing during a conversation, but sometimes he’s not. Kind of like one of those actors that can be pretty witty and funny but isn’t like... a comedian Edit: my grammar sucks
He is an ok actor and he is funny when he talks shit with bryan callen. Him trying to do a solo podcast like bill burr fails because him talking isnt funny and he thinks he is riffing but literally anyone talking to themselves is the same level of amusement.
Yeah the baby voice thing is when he's doing character dialogue for a story. The voice fans were criticizing him for is the quasi-urban thing he's doing as himself, which is not natural for him. This reviewer misunderstood that and addressed his "baby voice"
@@frame-perfectadskip9159 I always found this super fucking weird when I watched his stand-up, because on his podcast he talks totally different and more normal. It's weird its like when he's on stage he has split personality disorder or something.
@@TheMickel111 That literally sums up everyone in Rogan's circle and Rogan himself. Funny in the podcast space, but literally can't make it through 5 minutes of any of their specials.

Most of the comedians who orbit around Joe Rogan like little Rogan moons suck at stand up. A few of them are funny podcasters but a lot of them aren’t even good at that. People are just slowly forgetting how to interact in person and they find these thousands of podcasts entertaining because they don’t know what a conversation with friends is supposed to sound like not because they are actually that good.
I say the same thing about Rogan. Trash AF comedy, but podcast are ok. Lately, haven’t even bothered with his pod anymore. His “killer” comedian friends that always come on are worse then the people he bring on to talk about politics ...nobody careesss

@Dale Doback i think its even worse than that, i actually thinks he believes that his laugh is funny. His laugh is not funny at all, its fucking forced and annoying.
I think beige would be the perfect guy to go after the comedy store podcast hacks. People like bert Kreischer that has been telling the same machine story for 8 years. He has 3 or 4 of his own podcasts and goes on like 30 other podcasts twice a year. His best joke is taking his shirt off.
You must not know how much about comedy, because most comedians have a joke that they make early in their career that they're then known for telling through the rest of it.
He isn't funny at all, and he's gross with his need to be barefoot all the time. Gross how he talks about his family and delusional how he trys to convey himself as a cool drunk but really comes of as a nerdy / needy SAP

It's crazy how funny Chris is on his podcast, but how horrible his stand-ups are. So D'Elia is Joe Rogan, if JR possessed at least a smattering of talent
before the allegations, i tried to listen to one of his podcasts because i heard it was really good. I made it like 10 minutes BARELY just cause i was thinking "maybe it gets better?" I never thought is comedy was that good either. I tried to watch a special and tried to think he was funny cause i kept hearing he was, but i couldnt make myself think any of it was funny lmao. Guess I'm glad I never thought it was good.
I think Chris is hilarious when he’s talking with friends and his podcast has some funny moments but his stand up is HORRIBLE. It’s weird how some comedians can only write jokes and come off cringe and completely unfunny in conversations and others are the opposite.
The podcast scene is over-saturated with comedians pretentiously rambling on and on about "coming up with material", and "doing sets at The Comedy Store". Especially when the majority of them are mediocre at best. In fact, it almost appears as if stand up comedy, in general, is over-saturated.
@@philsmith3019 over-saturated is when there's a lack of opportunity and an abundance of talent. what's happening right now is exactly the opposite. Netflix is giving everyone who's ever sold a ticket a special and that goes double if you're part of a minority group. But honestly imo this is great for comedy fans. More opportunity means more hacks but it also means more talented comedians. Ignoring the shitty ones is easy.
I've seen rogan in person a few times. He's really not that funny on stage. And I listened to all his podcasts and loved them. But I fell off the podcast bandwagon and havent heard much other than the JRE clips. Rogan's popularity really comes from his podcast. He is a funny guy, but a mediocre comedian.
I'm a comic and hate everything standup these days. Seeing Brendan Schaub get a special was heart breaking. You have a keen eye in a time when everything that isn't praise is considered mean. Great job.
I first heard about that in Bieber's roast and I immediatly knew he sucked when he made 2 Isis jokes that we're gory and awkward and nobody laughed. Look it up, the joke takes forever and every second is to long.
I can see how it's worse than Schaub's. Don't get me wrong, you'd be surprised was as bad as it gets, but at least Schaub is fairly new to stand up. Delia has been doing stand up for a while and he is so fucking trash. I'll never understand how he's famous.
Theo Vons and Bill Burr solo podcasts are hilarious. They both have quick wits off the cuff.Delia has his moments but he try’s too hard. Its unbearable 80% of the time.
BaronVonBielski I’m aware, I guess I don’t find him funny. I’m was being a little harsh in my prior comment. Some people find him funny which is totally fine, but I just don’t get he’s so famous. I feel the same about Bert kirshner (spelling) . I don’t get why these guys are funny”. Maybe I’m just being a snob
I really found Chris unfunny when I saw one of his specials a few years ago, but he can be hilarious on podcasts. If you don't think he is at all funny, I recommend checking out the Ten Minute Podcast and any of his guest appearances on the Fighter and the Kid.
I don't even agree with the premise. I think D'elia is a funny guy. He also had coherent points and followed a story-line throughout the whole special, which often made his punchlines and references that much funnier. The fact that he even compares Brendan's special to D'elia shows that he's an internet criticizer and has no idea what would actually make a funny special.

He doesn't have to succeed. He's just another trust fund kid who made the best of his connections. There is literal no pressure to succeed because of his massive safety net.
He's at his best without a script. I think he has admitted to having some kind of neuroticism and he told on the Your mom's house podcast about some small issues he had shooting the special which made him nervous and self-conscious. They also often shoot specials 3 times which also can make it seem more forced. That still doesn't excuse his terrible though. In a way the same has happened to Rogan too where he tries too hard to be a comedian and tries to polish his jokes. He has always been bad but i think he was more loose and relaxed in his 2006 special than in newer ones. D'elia has also been better in some of his older stand up.
It doesn’t matter what his recent takes are, this video is still relevant and accurate. You’re just trying to deride beige frequency because you either don’t like it when people call out Chris Delia, or you’re simply just dumb enough to not seeing the accurate observations presented in this video.

Same . Only thing that made me laugh is the Eminem impression

Most of the comedians who orbit around Joe Rogan like little Rogan moons suck at stand up. A few of them are funny podcasters but a lot of them aren’t even good at that. The Legends canndo both, like Louie, Patrice, Burr
User 1984 his podcast is garbage though lol
A lot of comedians have this problem, they are great on podcasts but just terrible on stage....
