This is just Jeff’s brand of comedy, his specials have always been like this. It’s just like if Netflix put up a new Dice Clay special, you know what to expect.
I saw Dice 6-7 years ago and he was really good. He did his newer matured comedy for the whole show and then came out to do the nursery rhymes as his encore. He has definitely still held onto the Dice persona, but a granddad Dice now.
I'm not a Foxworthy fan AT ALL, but this is not worse than Schaub. Foxworthy at least has the rhythm, the cadence of a professional comedian. If a joke is otherwise worthless, it still goes down better with a good delivery. Sorry, but this isn't worse than that. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
I definitely agree. He at least sounds like an experienced comedian. There will be people that find his topics relatable or funny and him being able perform a good delivery will be good in that case. Even if you found Brendan’s topics funny his delivery and cadence make it impossible to find it hilarious. I think all you have to do is look at the comments under both specials. Jeff’s has a bunch of people saying they enjoyed it and Brendan’s is just people shitting on him non stop. Even IMDB rating is way higher which tells you at least someone is finding this watchable
I agree. His comedy isn’t for me but it’s definitely better than schaub. I think Foxworthy’s comedy is directed at boomers and well….a dumber crowd? 🤷🏻 I don’t think he’s ever done anything worse than Schaub tho lol.
I think there's quite a bit of hair splitting here. Like, yea we all know Schwabb has always sucked, but Foxworthy can at least pass as entertainment for a certain retarded middle aged demo that extends to the almost dead, life long smoker baptist demo. Given the parlance of his time, of course. You gotta have a frame of reference. Brandon doesn't have the benefit of the "You might be a redneck" confidence that Foxworthy presents. He tries to be cool and fails miserably and fails to capture an audience in that way. There was a time when Billy Bass, the singing as seen on TV fish was a big thing as well as Billy Bob teeth, and WWJD bracelets. I'm almost 37, if you're 5 years or more younger than me, you gotta believe me, Foxworthy was a fucking rockstar level comic. Top of the heap. To even have to argue semantics against a total tallywhacker like Brandon the Retard is a point for the author of this comment. Is Foxworthy better? I mean..do you want to hear either, ever? No. And has Foxworthy always been terrible? yea, he has. So, there is a line to be drawn here.
There’s a reason Jeff teamed up with others back in the day. Ron carried the crew. Even back in his prime, it was the group moments that were funny, mostly because of Ron and Cletus.
That's a shame. I never felt Foxworthy was laugh out loud funny, but I always considered him to be a likeable guy, if not corny. It's disappointing to see Jeff call it in like that.
What does "likeable" have to do with "funny"? You watch comedy shows and go "gee I hope he's a likeably friendly guy". That's usually how I pick what surgeon I go to, I look up how slick their Nike collection is on instagram
@@dissraps I didn't say being likeable has anything to do with being funny. I'll also readily acknowledge that all it does is create a prejudice to want someone to do well, and it's disappointing when they don't. It's as simple as that.
Yeah, seriously missed opportunity. Those O&A bits about how crazy the '50s were are still great 20 years later. Could actually criticize modern times along with the "good old days" by highlighting how problems/dangers have simply shifted (ie. less lead exposure now but more exposure to microplastics).
I mean secretly it is. I know people exactly like this being from the south and they 100 percent miss the being racist and bigoted that was just common place in the "good ole days"
Jeff and his crew had a great run back in the day, at one point I'm pretty sure he made more money than any other comedian at the time. He should have taken it for what it was, a great bit to do AT THE TIME. It was inoffensive humor for Midwestern Dads and grandparents. Home improvement was on TV and a few beers and a Foxworthy special was a great night for some 40 yrold dude in the 90s. Why on earth he would try to resurrect it is beyond me but I guess one last money grab to keep the mansion running was needed :/
Because it sounds so much better than today's social media dating app social distancing filled dystopia of today, and everything is somehow racist now...

I most definitely haven't wasted my time viewing this special, but I'm almost positive that I've heard most of these jokes before... so he's either rehashing his own archaic material or he's stealing ancient jokes from other comics. And honestly, I'm not too sure which of those is more pathetic.
jeff used to be a legit great comic back in the 90s. even as he got older he didn't get into the boomer or edgy "cancelled" bullshit even if you knew he was a kinda conservative guy. he's just an old dude now...
I don’t know man, I don’t think Jeff deserved this. He’s an old, over the hill comedian who’s just phoning it in at this point. He’s harmless. There has got to be far more deserving people of this brutal criticism. I will compliment you on the artwork, you keep getting better and better 👍🏻
YES! I'm glad to see that you, me and, well, everyone else who watched are pointing out this obvious fact: Foxworthy is stale and banal, but he isn't awful. I wouldn't cross the street to watch him for free, but others are much worse.
While I wouldn't say it was totally undeserved, I do agree there are almost certainty more deserving targets. The thought that kept occurring to me was that this comedy was probably perfect for Foxworthy's fanbase, or what's left of it, anyway.
As a central Texas resident I can say, this is definitely the over sanitized dreck that is super common among the southern Christian (but also coincidentally very racist) crowd. Obviously it’s boomer humor and is by that nature painfully unfunny. But there’s also always this confusing conflict of ideology within the culture of people who would enjoy this shit. Like they feel like boobies and peeing in a beer can is the most inappropriate risqué stuff they could ever fathom. While at the same time living their lives on a regular basis perceiving the world through racist stereotypes and judgments of people they’ve zero experience with. It’s all too common around here.
20 years ago, I would describe Jeff Foxworthy as "inoffensive" Today, that still holds true. It's not my type of comedy, I started watching stand-up with Bill Hicks. But this is not even the worst stuff from the time capsule it was digged up from.

I’m not sure where you were raised, maybe on a elitist coastal city… But for like 90% of the people in the country… Foxworthy has been extremely relatable and entertaining for several decades now. He was always a guy you could pop in a cassette tape on a road trip with your family and everyone would be laughing and smiling. The fact that there's a "participation trophy" joke is just baffling, because that was a trite observation even way back then. It's like having jokes about car phones and fax machines, just wildly out of touch and delivered like he's dropping bombs about modern society.
"It's like having jokes about car phones and fax machines" is exactly what I thought about this special.

Jeff’s brand of comedy is the furthest thing from comedy. Therefore, it’s fair game to call it garbage.
"His specials have always been like this" bro this is his first solo special in 24 years. How old are you
I'm not a Foxworthy fan AT ALL, but this is not worse than Schaub.
It's just how boring it is, you can't get any kind of laughs from it
Schaub has been a comedian for like 6 years, Foxworthy opened for Pompei Magnus in Rome.
Always viewed him as a Dominick Cruz type of douche!

Yeah, seriously missed opportunity. Those O&A bits about how crazy the '50s were are still great 20 years later. What does his age have to do with him being a shit comedian?
20 years ago, I would describe Jeff Foxworthy as "inoffensive"
Today, that still holds true. It's not my type of comedy, I started watching stand-up with Bill Hicks. But this is not even the worst stuff from the time capsule it was digged up from.
