- When the resort first opens, there's a lot of stoke and usually not a lot of snow. You could either stick to the one crowded groomer, or venture off and go to battle with rocks and stumps. Marcus does exactly that in this episode, charging hard despite low-snow conditions at Alta and Snowbird.

What a fantastic video and amazing skiing! I just can't believe Snowbird/Alta open this kind of terrain. In Colorado, most resorts keep the steeps closed until there is ample coverage. Something like this would never fly at most resorts I've been to before. Maybe I need to loosen up a bit, haha.
Alta is one of the best early season ski areas because they will open things on very limited snow, allow early season only traverses, and there are a few steps that have grass/bushes underneath instead of rocks. You can get real turns earlier than almost anywhere else.

YOu'd be surprised. I ski in those conditions almost exclusively and rarely, if ever, get core shots.
