I actually have one already, Bought it on Prime day when it fell 200$ in price. Works for me as yours works for you. I to agree its kind of cumbersome to setup, but when you need it its quite handy... One thing to keep in mind for your Mac peeps, The Airs can only drive one of the displays not both... The MBP can drive both as you demonstrated... In my case its on my Legion 7...

If you will connect your iPad via a cable there will be no disconnecting issues (just don't forget to answer that you trust your Mac when it asks it on the first connection). Sidecar is a great feature, the only downside is perhaps Sidecar's system requirements could be a bit lower - you'll need a modern Mac and a modern iPad for it work. It would have been nice if the older iPads were compatible as well, they have great screens, and this feature could have given a second life to them.

I use my iPad pro 12.9inch as a second display with sidecar. I use a cable instead of wireless because it disconnects on wireless. It didn't disconnect until I installed Monterey. I'd love to a have a multi-monitor setup for when I do dev work on the go. Using the iPad wired drains my laptop battery to charge the iPad.

I have been wanting to get something like this for a while now (the kickstarter for Slidenjoy, etc.), but with the price point so high, I have traveled with two laptops quite a bit. It is good to hear that the prices of these are dropping! If I don't win the raffle, I'll definitely look into these again! Going from multiple screens down to 1 screen when traveling definitely feels cramped especially when I try to keep one screen dedicated to monitoring my T1D blood sugar levels! Thanks for this raffle!

5:19 - I also noticed frequent disconnections from iPad running Universal Control/Sidecar. Honestly, this is one of these things which causes that - after initial excitement - I don't use this feature anymore. Shame on you, Apple!

I purchased a similar one two months ago and it has worked wonders for me. Once connected all is great, however, you are SOOO right, it drains your laptop battery quicker if not plugged in. I make sure battery is at 100% when connecting extenders with plugged power cords. If at any moment I am not in need of the extenders, I disconnect the HDMI and cable-C's.

Thanks for the review. I have used multiple monitors in coffee shops (go to one of many in Asheville, NC!) or especially in coworking shops.
What I refuse to do is spring-attach this triple-system (actually dual) to a nice MacBook. The resolution of the LG Gram View is 2K (not the 1080p), lightweight, has mirrored USB-C ports on each side, and is very thin (easy to protect in a sleeve).

Sidecar with iPad disconnects when streaming videos on it due to some copyright issue playing media on a secondary device. It also freezes when a RAM intensive app window is displayed on the iPad. My guess is bluetooth's limited bandwidth can't handle the data transfers. Other than these 2 limitations, the iPad makes a really good companion for a MacBook on the go.

To answer your question about more monitors, YES more is always better. During the lockdown I built my home work setup to SEVEN monitors total including the laptop screen. Going back to the office with only 3 monitors was hard and I do feel less productive in the office because of it.
I'm considering this setup for my work office to take me to six monitors, including a spare monitor I'll take into the office to setup in portrait mode for letter documents, a very useful setup I have in my home office.
