    Josh - When speed matching I set my throttle to the 28 step speed mode. That gives a one-to-one match with the JMRI speed setting sliders. That makes it quick and easy to test two locomotives at the same speed step.
    Once matched, I revert to the 128 step mode. The increments between the larger steps are computed by the throttle.
    Not being critical. This is just a matter of personal preference. You do a great job with your videos.

    Fantastic video Josh. As another comment requested, it would be helpful to know how to connect computer to dcc system. Also which dcc systems are able to connect to JRMI Interface and what additional hardware would be needed.
    Cheers,

    Josh: I have most of my locos paired and matched. My "keys to success" are: (1) use the JMRI program; (2) pair the same locos by the same manufacturer (eg: Proto 2K SD 60s); (3) which have the same decoder (same manufacturer and same number ( eg: Digitrax 169LO). This works best for me - few hassles. Give me a shout if you'd like to do a tour of layouts in the Charlotte area...

    ThrottleUp was how NCE was known 30-40 years ago. Made/sold sound systems.

    Thanks for this video. It really helped me a lot. The next suggestion from me is, do a video about how to relocate a headlight.

    Wow… another great vid. would you know how to change the decoders max voltage cut-out? i have a athearn genisis sd45-2 (with tsunami sound) and i have a british dcc controller (i have mostly british trains) but the train will only run if i have several other locos sitting on the track. :( p.s you are definitely one of the best model railroad channels on you tube by far keep up the good work

    For the new beginner, could you do a short video on how to hook up a computer to your track or dcc system a and what you need. Thanks

    To give you some constructive criticism, I’d suggest you use some software on your computer if you wanted to capture your screen, It’s much better/clearer than a camera pointed at the screen could ever be for monitor recording. Otherwise very great video!

    Different decoder manufacturers are a pain to try to speed match. Jmri doesn't even read the decoder and if it does it's very limited from what you can program. Is their a fix to this?

    Thanks , just got JMRI downloaded and I am working on putting my 20 csx trains on the roster. Can you do a video explaining this program deeper? I wanted to knowhow to hook up the computer to the dcc system , am running mrc , how do I hook up my pc to the layout? Thanks for your time.

    Great video. Would you speed match your Tsunami decoder units the same with an ESU Loksound? If not any differences with the speed matching with a Tsunami and Loksound?

    Great video Josh! I have a Digitrax system on my N scale layout and most of my decoders are Digitrax. Every now and then when I enter a loco address for a certain loco, the loco does not respond. I have to reset the decoder and reprogram it. I keep a log on my setting for each loco so reprograming it does not take long. Have you experience this on your HO layout? I can see the advantage of having the JMRI program to speed up the reprograming process along with speed matching locos. I am definitly getting this program.

    I have a friend with JMRI and train club as well. I've seen jmri can be slow sometimes. Is yours slow?

    Couldn't you just speedmatch all of your locos to the same level so you could run any consist? I hope that doesn't sound dumb, but I had to ask

    • @nsmodeler24
      @nsmodeler24  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      No because each motor is different and needs to be fine-tuned to run with others.

    Would this also work for loksound select decoders (with the latest software of course)? I want to speed match a few things, as well as change some of the light functions. I was of the impression some of those things could only be done with lokprogrammer. Another question, does the lokprogrammer (to your knowledge) have a similar speed step ability. At some point ill need to get a system like this, just trying to decide which one

      modeltrain9500 Yes this should definitely work with any loksound! The only benefit, to my knowledge, is that a lokprogrammer can program sound files into the select decoders and custom sounds into the v4.0, while JMRI cannot. Both can program speed, lighting, and motor functions though.

    Hey Josh what did you use to connect the track power to the computer?

    • @nsmodeler24
      @nsmodeler24  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      A digitrax pr3

    • @k4kfh
      @k4kfh 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** I use a PR3 as well and it works great (I use it to connect the PC to my LocoNet-based layout, not in standalone program mode as it can also be used) but I've also heard good things about the LocoBuffer-USB from RR-CirKits.
      Just my two cents :P

    hello, Josh, (if I may call you that) I was wondering, can I send you two of my athearn blue box locomotives, and, could you paint them for me please!? I've tried painting them before, but, I stink at painting. I really do not know how to do all this. I was hoping if I send them to you, you can paint them up nice for me. Also, how much would it cost? Sorry I had to comment but I don't know how else to contact you. If you need my email, let me know. -
    Luke
